Actually, if the article where they said it is the same I've readen, they expressedly claimed that they were looking at this contest to execute a faction, but avoid mentioning an eventual Heroes 6. I'd be surprised if they were doing anything different from a patch. It would also be a weird marketing move to speak of the contest in the article, but not of the game they're working about.
I'm not sure what we should expect to see. If it's not HOMM6, what else can it be? My guess is another addon for HOMM5 or a different game, based on Heroes of Might and Magic, like the Kingdoms of Might and Magic...

Wow, this better be a joke, the thought of having a "Faction ideas and design by Adrius" written on a game just gives me the chills
I should have made a faction...

I think that's a fairly ungrateful thing to say. First of all, they did resurrect the series, I think that should classify as caring for the fans in some way. They made the game based on Heroes 3 rather than Heroes 4, which I think is also respecting the fans. We even have reason to believe that they changed their plans for the second expansion to include Orcs to favor the fans. The latter might be just speculations, but I really think we tend to go a bit hard on Nival just because they don't make everything exactly as we want it.

I got used to that in every forum about Magic The Gathering:

People just love complaining.

I must say you had me on this one, but that was mainly because when I read this it was still 31th of march. Good joke, you realy got my hopes up on this one and it has been a fair bit since I've fallen for this kind of jokes.
