Units... are u satisfied? Post ur ideal roster here if not.

Um... this is just another wish topic... about ideal unit rosters. Honestly, IMO, some units just don't correspond well with their magic/structure background and some just look lame. In any case, the following is my ideal unit roster, cuz if u haven't guessed yet, I'm not satisfied. I mean, it's been improved since HOMM3, but...

My ideal system is as follows: 3 creature levels for each magic type, and 3rd level creatures are toned down. All 3 level 1 creatures can be recruited, only 2 of 3 Level 2 creatures can be recruited, and only 1 out of 2 Level 3 creatures can be recruited (for one Castle).

Haven (Life) HEROES: Monk, Cleric
1)Halfling (shooter)
Will 'O Wisp (flyer)
White Tiger (ground)
2)Pegasi (flying shooter)
Unicorn (spell caster)
Paladin (ground)
3)Angel (flyer)
Valkyrie (flying shooter)
SUMMARY: My "Life" units roster generally have low hit points, but they have lots of flyers and shooters, making them more of a defensive army. Added note- Heehee, all of them are basically coloured white.

Academy (Order) HEROES: Lord, Scholar
1)Peasant (ground)
Pikeman (ground)
Archer (shooter)
2)Cavalier (ground)
Genie (flying spell caster)
Knight (ground)
3)Titan (shooter)
Griffin (flyer)
SUMMARY: The order units are mostly composed of humans. Rather fitting I would say, since laws in human communities in the middle ages were very strict. They were basically more lawful, than religious, unlike what HOMM3 portrayed. These units are very intelligent, making them excellent strategists. Their drawback is flying units, but they can persuade enemies to join their order and have a magic learning bonus.

Preserve (Nature) HEROES: Ranger, Druid
1)Sprite (flyer)
Centaur (shooter)
Treant (ground)
2)Elf (shooter)
Dryad (spell caster)
Giant Spider (ground)
3) Phoenix (flyer)
Wyrm (ground)
SUMMARY: A balanced set of units. I included as many "tree-dwelling" mythological folk I could think of, and not to gloat, but I really like this set. The Preserve units are skilled in Foresting, and have a travelling bonus in land, but travelling deduction in roads.

Stonghold (Chaos) HEROES: Assassin, Shaman
1)Rogue (ground)
Orc (shooter)
Wolf (ground)
2) Barbarian (ground)
Roc (flyer)
Ogre Magi (spell caster)
3) Cyclops (shooter)
Behemoth (ground)
SUMMARY: The opposite of Order, now the classic HOMM2 battles between the "Knight" and the "Barbarian" can be reborn, if my roster is considered by 3DO. Like the Academy, they lack in flying troops, but are generally sturdy troops.

Asylum (Fire) HEROES: Overlord, Warlock (male), Witch (female)
1)Satyr (shooter)
Harpy (flyer)
Cerberus (ground)
2) Medusa (shooter)
Efreet (flying spell caster)
Minotaur (ground)
3)Black Dragon (flyer)
Hydra (ground)
SUMMARY: Creatures of hell and evil. Balanced, sturdy and profficient in magic. They have a significantly large magic learning bonus, larger than Academy's heroes, but have generally slow creatures.

Necropolis (death) HEROES: Death Knight, Necromancer
1)Skeleton (ground)
Zombie (shooter)
Ghost (flyer)
2) Mummy (ground)
Nightmare (spell caster)
Vampire (flyer)
3) Ghost Dragon (flyer)
Devil (flyer)
SUMMARY: these units lack archers, but have a good range of flyers. A rather offensive roster, considering the added bonus of Necromancy (More skeletons!YAY).

INVENTED NEW Structures:
Palace (Water) HEROES: Dragoon, Priestess
1) Lizardman (shooter)
Pirate (ground)
Kraken (ground-sturdy as a level 1, but REALLY slow)
2) Mermaid (spell caster)
Naga (ground)
Amazon (shooter)
3) Leviathan (flyer)
Dragon Turtle (ground)
SUMMARY: the opposite of Fire units. I wasn't too sure what to make of the warrior Hero, but since water destinguishes fire, then I thought of making it a Dragoon. Notice the idea of the roster was partly taken from Lords of Magic and Master of Magic. Anyways, they lack flying units but has the strongest Level 1 ground unit and strongest level 2 shooter unit. They have a travelling bonus in water and do not need a ship to do so. But they are slower, but not considerably slower, in land.

Factory (Science/Tech) HEROES: Alchemist, Wizard
1)Gremlin (shooter)
Dwarf (ground)
Gargoyle (flyer)
2) Golem (ground)
Gnome (shooter, uses cannons)
Mage (spell caster)
3) Colossus (ground)
Stag Beetle (ground)
SUMMARY: Most of the units were animated by technology, by the "small creatures (Dwarf, Gnome, Gremlin)". They may be small, but they are very smart and have a natural resistance to magic. BUT, their magic capabilities are also limited.

Well, that's it for my ideas. How was it? Do u like it? I hope so. Feel free to post any disagreements, ideas, or ur own ideal roster. But please, no flaming... try to make the communication as mature as possible.

actually, some of those ideas are out of place imho, but some are really good. was quite refreshing to read it, and almost wanted to post my own creature lineup ideas here. but got puzzled with the sprites and the spiders being in the same town, and fighting side by side in the same army.

Heh, I just added the Giant Spider in the Preserve cuz in Master of Magic and in the Card Game, Magic the Gathering, Giant Spiders were considered Nature's army...
...
...
Wait a minute, are u saying it's weird that Spider's and Sprites fighting side by side are weird cuz spiders eat insect-like-creatures? ... Hmm yeah I guess, I couldn't think of a powerful ground creature other than the Spider so I decided to just throw it in there. Cockatrice doesn't sound so bad, although it's flying. How about Basilisk?

actually, as far as i remember, there were some bit more serious problems than sprites and spiders, like halfling being equal to white tiger in the very first town, but.. well.. it happens.

i think that the spiders would be nice.. but there should be a choice between spiders and sprites that excludes having both of them. just like it would be possible to put elves and dwarves in the same town when there is a choice between one or the other. i.e. no more reasoning here than the conflict between the otherways possibly similar type of creatures.

something from Incubus:

well, Dajek, I wonder would you have liked these ideas if incubus made them?

Thanks....
But my towns weren't that bad weren't they? I think everybody is just confused.. My towns were too perfect(LOL).. you all use normal wolves spiders and scorpions and most of all SNAKES! Most make the ice town with ice worms and pinguins.. I use yeti and Frost Giants.. more likely frost creatures from mythology of fantasy. Instead of making them overgrown or stupid normal animals like anacondas or cobras
I give them half human bodies and make them different... I don't like normal animals..(or spiders/snakes that are overgrown) what's special about that?.. And believe me Darkspirit, I know wich creatures love or hate eachother I don't put giant spiders into a town with also GOOD creatures in it like preserve and I don't put Basilisk into a Asylum town.. So please.. next time don't make such a post. I would never make such towns..

thank you..

That's also the reason I want the wolfs out of the preserve/game.. I already sent many post about that.. maybe they change it? Hopefully!

[Lith's comment]

I want the wolves in... wolves are not evil... in fact they are among the most caring animals...
