Some New Dark Ages?!?
Well seeing how the economy is going how the politics are going and many other facts I think that we are going back to the Dark Ages, on the one hand this is good because , normally, we are going to have a new renaisance too but on the other hand we are going to live very dificult.
What do you think?
Am I right?

I think the media reflects a dark age type of scenario, but not really that a new dark age is coming.
What economy are we discussing? American or global?

We're not heading to a new Dark Age. It's just bad news being blown out of proportion. We've had the Great Depression and World War II (far worse than what is going on now), and we got still didn't go back to the Dark Ages. Even if global nuclear warfare happens, I seriously doubt than everyonen will die. Just 3/4 of the population. And we'd be able to rebuild quickly.

Well, if we lose the abstract and elusive spirit called internet, fall into anarchy during war time and if we let the clerus rule us again... Yes, in that case, we do fall into the dark ages.

If US get paraboid again and this time actually end up using a nuke, and then we got a nuclear war......... yes we migth go back to the dark ages..........
Because it would do following:
*EMP killing PC's and stuff
*Nuclear winter
*Killing soo many people and maybe a effect similar to what the "Black Death" did in Norway about 1350ths.
The killing would mean a small group would survive, then after that the arevage max age would be lowered by a insane amount. Then after maybe 2-3 generations trading becomes normal along with new religius extremist groups surviving the war along with some new ones. After that we would be around the tecnologi of maybe........ 1600 in the best case.......
However i think Island and Australia would esquape this war. Some of south Africa too, and maybe even Japan. If they are however draggen in too, we are back at the dark ages for the entire world.

We would probably be thrown back into the technology of the early 1900s, but would be able to rebuild quickly.

For one, I belive "dark age" is simply being incorectly used as a metaphore for hardtimes.
Secondly, the Renaissance didn't fallow the dark ages. There was the (classical) medieval period between those.
Thirdly, neither the dark ages nor the renaissance are repeatable, since historical conditions are different.

With Dark ages, I do believe that we talked about technological retardation. And if we wouldn't return to the dark ages, I would consider that we at least went back to the Ancien régime, if our society would face severe hunger, war, decimation, injustice etc. We will cling on to the old ways once again 'cuz our mutual consciousness would sense the safety we found in the order of the old ways. Thusly, the Ancien Régime... (to ppl who aren't taught West-European history: the ancien régime starts with the dark ages and dies at the French revolution)

Too many economies are totally unaffected by the american market for it to even come near to such a scenario.
All knowledge-based economies will be fine. All countries that rely on money sent back to them from the US will be fine because people will return to their native countries if the pay is roughly the same. All of the huge metal importers will be fine. All the countries with an insanely small but profitable population will be fine.
