Chimeras is a mix of different animals. The basic chimera from the myth was a lion with a snake as a tail and a gots hind-body, it also had the goats head around the middle of the body.

Ps:
My lineup will be like this:

Lv1: Weak mage
Lv2 : gargoyle
Lv3: Another mage
Lv4: Warmachine(youll see)
Lv5: Biig Birdy
Lv6: Chimera
Lv7: Manticore

Asylum

Associated colors: Dark Purple, (Light) Blue, White
Symbols: Birds, wings, mist
Motto: We make dreams a reality. (Stolen from Leadtek, but fits my faction)
Worship: none, but they "like" Malassa

Hero: Dreamseeker
Main skills: Attack - 30%, Spellpower - 25%, Knowledge - 25%, Defense - 20%
Spell Schools: Summoning, Dark
Hero looks like: very similar to a Necromancer. But Dreamseekers look more "alive", they wear long purple/dark blue robes and ride on a horse. They hold a Staff instead of a Scythe. Attack animation is similar to Necromancer and Warlock, they use a hand for that.
Casting animation - they put their both hands together (like praying) and a beam of light shoots out from the tip of the staff.

History:
The beginning of Asylum dates back to the 5th century and is connected to the foundation of Necromancy.
There lived a young man named Ra`Ahmel. His father was a renown golem crafter and a wizard. Ahmel was expected to follow his father`s footsteps and so he did. For many years, he learned how to create "life" through magic and handicraft. Ahmel turned out to be very skilled in wizardy, even suprassing his father, but his crafting skills weren`t remarkable.
The reason was simple - Ahmel didn`t think much of those mechanical creatures. To him, they were too fake, soulless beings not worthy of existing. Nevertheless, his ambition was to find ways to create real life and by doing so, become a greater being.

It was the year 461 YSD that changed Ahmel`s destiny. A new magic was found, Necromancy. After hearing about the basic concepts of it, Ahmel decided that necromancy might be the key to achieve his goals.
He traveled to Seven Cities and there, joined the necromancers. Because Necromancy was still in it`s early stages, there was room for mages to experiment on different methods on how to raise the dead...
Although most mages were satisfied with simply reanimating the corpse, young Ra`Ahmel wanted to dwell deeper into the souls of those who were once living. Through corpses, he seemed to establish some kind of connection with the lost souls. Some other mages were impressed by his work and began to work with him. Together, they created a separate cult, called the Soulseekers.

Then, after years and years of experimenting... Ahmel died. Although the cult remained for a while, it began to fall apart. Mages began to argue and fight each other.
Then, at one night a young, fool mage named Gedir, trying to get revenge on another member of the cult, Zir, used his magical soulseeking abilities on him. But his target was alive and sleeping.

Next morning, news of a horrific monster attacking a nearby village began to spread. The body of Gedir was found in Zir`s bedroom. Soulseekers realized that Gedir had awaken a monster from Zir`s dream. With this a new age began. The cult took a new name, The Dreamseekers.

The Dreamseekers began experimenting on living people and soon realized that mentally ill people are best subjects because their minds are more open. Through these people, they discovered a new dimension, which they called The Dreamworld. Although this world is different for every individual, it seems that there are certain aspect of it that all people share. For example, similar guardian spirits roam the planes of all Dreamworlds.

Their power grew larger and larger and finally, The Dreamseekers decided to build their own building complexes to experiment peacefully. Only time will tell, how powerful their magic will eventually become, because this is only the beginning.

Town looks like: It looks like a monastery/church on top of a rocky hill, the monastery/church is not very flashy, maybe with one or two towers. The sky is dark, gray and cloudy, but not as dark as Necropolis as it`s daytime. But, there is a small ray of sunshine falling down on one side of the monastery, painting a small spot on it slightly yellow. More little buildings and towers and walls appear as the town progresses.

Creatures:
Note: although Dreamseekers can theoretically create any monster, in the Asylum army, there are certain creatures that all heroes can create. It is easier to stick to a single lineup for the army.

Tier 1

Follower
Story: They are the basic followers and apprentices of Asylum heroes and their magic.
ATT: 2
DEF: 1
HP: 5
DMG:1-2
INIT: 10
SPD: 5
Abilities: Fool`s Luck*
Visual: they are human, basically like the peasant, but thin and don`t carry any weapons.

Lunatic 1st Upgrd
Story: The enormous amount of magic affects the mind so much that many Followers go literally crazy.
ATT: 3
DEF: 2
DMG: 1-3
HP: 10
INIT: 10
SPD: 6
Abilities: Fool`s Luck, False Image*
Visual: lunatics look like Followers, except they are in a straitjacket and seem more "crazy" overall.

Brainwashed 2nd Upgrd
Story: Brainwashed are the most unlucky of the simple-minded Followers. Because of their mental instability, the Asylum heroes have no choice but to wipe the minds of many Lunatics. Brainwashed are completely controlled by the hero and do whatever they are told.
ATT: 3
DEF: 3
HP: 12
DMG: 3-3
INIT: 11
SPD: 6
Abilities:Numb Mind*, Sacrifice*
Visual: also human, but they are more calm than Lunatics and wear long gray robes.

New Abilities:
Fool`s Luck: regardless of enemy luck, attacks against this creature can be unlucky, also works against Nature`s Luck.
False Image: Lunatics see higher Tier creatures as weak, small creatures and attack them fearlessly, doing extra damage and gaining Initiative.
Numb Mind: This creature is immune to all mind-related spells and moral effects.
Sacrifice: This creature can sacrifice itself to add points to the army`s Dreamstate points.

Tier 2

Imp
Description: Though "monsters" in the eyes of Asylum heroes, the Imps are an invaluable source of wicked thoughts. They are a relatively new addition to the Asylum army. They were captured some time ago during a battle and are now bred to be stronger and more intelligent.
Stats: great attack, defense, damage and HP, inferior only to Blood Maiden. Attack-oriented.
Visual: Imps look almost the same as the ones in Inferno. But, they are a little bit larger. Also, their color is more orange and less red and they don`t have any flaming effects.
Abilities: Devour Mana*

Imperator 1st Upgrd
Descritpion: The physically and mentally strongest of imps are selected as leaders. They are given the best equipment and battle training that the heroes of Asylum can allow for this inferior species.
Visual: Bigger than regular Asylum imps. They wear black armor (like Stronghold Warmongers) and helmet. They tend to stand straight rather than lean down as regular Imps.
Stats: Improved minimum damage to decrease dmg range, little better ATT and DEF. Huge improvement in HP (about 23HP).
Abilites: Magic Proof 25%, Sealed Curse*

Impagus   2nd Upgrd
Description: Those Imps who possess the strongest magical abilities, are trained by the Asylum monks.
Visual: They are as large as regular Imps, but more red in color, almost glowing. They have a small wooden stick.
Stats: A small statistical upgrade, improved DEF, max dmg (and thus, bigger dmg range) and HP a little. But, Impaguses are ranged spellcaster.
Abilities: Shooter, Spellcaster (Spellbook: Basic Slow, Basic Weakness, Decay No Mastery - if it`s possible?), Mana Shot*, Devour Mana

New Abilities:
Devour Mana: The Imps can steal enemy hero`s mana to replenish their own and heal themselves. Activated ability. Note: because regular Imps do not have any mana points, they only use the enemy`s mana to heal themselves. Also, the amount of mana drained by Impaguses is greater. Adds points to Dreamstate.
Mana Shot: This creature uses it`s mana to shoot at enemy creatures, draining one mana point per shot. Ammo Cart does not work on this creature.
Sealed Curse: Activated ability. The Imperator casts a random low-level curse on an enemy. The curse may land on a creature that is immune to that particular spell (eg Weakness to Blood Sister), in that case, the spell wont work. Can be used three times per battle. Adds points to Dreamstate.

Tier 3

Nighthawk
Description: Nighthawks are the first and weakest of the real Dream monsters in the Asylum army.
Visual: Nighthawks are 2x2 creatures, but they aren`t really big, to be exact, they are the smallest of any bird-type creature. When idle, they fly (like the Phoenix). Brown in color.
Stats: Average ATT, DEF, HP. DMG is a little below average.
Abilities: Flier, ???*

Ba   1st Upgrd
Description: Ba is a guardian spirit that takes the form of a bird. It is believed that even if the body dies, the soul of a Ba remains on the battlefield.
Visual: Ba is a bit darker than Nighthawk and has a weak light blue aura.
Stats: slightly better ATT. DEF and HP increase is bigger (making it a defense oriented creature). Slightly better dmg, SPD and INIT.
Abilities: Flier, ??? Guardian Spirit*

Garaida   2nd Upgrd
Description: Garaidas are more fierce than their counterpart.
Visual: a little lighter in color and emits a purple aura.
Stats: Offensive creature with better ATT and DMG. minor increase in HP. SPD and INIT are same as Ba`s.
Abilities: Flier, ???, Supreme Speed, Soul Missile

New Abilities:
???: This creature can attack an enemy standing behind it`s initial target. Works even if the first target is a large creature.
Guardian Spirit: this creature can guard one friendly creature (like Retaliation Strike). Guarded creature gets a morale boost and cannot be killed by normal means (that is, it remains to 1HP no matter how strong the enemy is), but can be killed by spells and special abilities such as Vorpal Sword. Moreover, if the Guardian Spirit is killed, it rasies the morale of all friendly troops by 2 and adds points to Dreamstate.
Supreme Speed: Speed and Initiative of this creature cannot be lowered by any means.
Soul Missile: Activated ability. Two times per battle, this creature can become a magical missile that penetrates all enemies in one line, stunning them and doing extra damage. Adds points to Dreamstate.

Tier 4

Felinius
Description: Like the Ba, Felinus is a spirit in the form of an animal. This cat-like creature is probably the most fierce warrior in the Asylum army. It should be noted that the first Dreamseekers who tried to seal this creature were killed in a matter of seconds.
Visual: Felinius is half cat and half human. It stands on two legs, but not completely straight, it leans forward to support itself (like Pit Fiend). When moving, Felinius uses all four legs. It has quite big ears, a big tail and is covered with fur. In general, it looks more like a cat than a human. Plus, it has quite big paws and very long claws. Felinius is black in color.
Stats: Good attack and defense stats. Great damage, but slightly lacking in HP. Great Speed and Initiative.
Abilities: Unlimited Retaliation, Scratching Claws*, Feline Agility*

Matago   1st Uprade
Descritpion: Matagos are quick and agile and expert hunters. No monster in the Dreamworld can match their speed. At night, they move as shadows, unseen and feared.
Visual: Looks almost the same as Felinius, but is even more black, shining black. It also has a black shadow-like aura and glowing blue eyes.
Stats: Greatly improved attack, defense and damage. Hp is improved a little. Speed is increased, but Initiative remains the same.
Abilities: Unlimited Retaliation, Scratching Claws, Shadowrunner*, Feline Fury*

Kasha   2nd Upgrd
Description: Although Kashas seem calm and cuddly at first, don`t be fooled by their white paws. In their natural home, they are as deadly as Matagos if not deadlier.
Visual: Also black, but its paws and tail are white. Has blue glowing eyes.
Stats: Slightly improved attack, damage and defense values. Hp is improved greatly. Speed and Initiative are both increased.
Abilities: Unlimited Retaliation, Scratching Claws, Feline Agility, Soul of a Predator*.

New Abilities:
Scratching Claws: this creature`s attack can inflict a critical wound.
Feline Agility: This creature takes 25% less damage from ranged and 20% less damage from melee attacks. Moreover, this creature can walk over obstacles on the battlefield.
Shadowrunner: an improved Feline Agility. This creature takes 35% less damage from ranged and 30% less damage from melee attacks and is also able to walk over obstacles. There`s more - if this creature moves at least 4 tiles to attack an enemy, it inflicts a critical wound and gets no retaliation (plus adds points to Dreamstate).
Feline Fury: Three times per battle, this creature can attack a 3x3 tile area, damaging every creature in that area. Adds points to Dreamstate.
Soul of a Predator: When in Dreamstate, the white parts of Kasha turn red. Kasha gets the No Retaliation ability and does increased damage.

Tier 5

Higher Apprentice
Description: Advanced Apprentices are the ones strong enough to withstand the enormous amounts of magic in Asylum. They are one step closer to becoming a real Dreamseeker.
Visual: They wear long gray robes (like Brainwashed). Their clothes are decorated with golden bird/tribal stuff.
Stats: Average Defense, Attack, Speed, Init and damage. Great HP.
Abilities: Shooter, Spellcaster (Spellbook - Portal of Luck), Spirit Ritual*

High Priest of Asylum   1st Upgrd
Description: The brightest of men finally become High Priests. In addition to their magical training, High Priests also work on their physical form. They believe if the body is strong, the mind is strong too.
Stats: Well improved attack, Init and defense as well as damage. HP is increased greatly.
Visual: Are almost the same color and have even more golden decorations. They have a purple "fog" around their feet.
Abilities:Shooter, Spellcaster (Spellbook - Advanced Deflect Missile, Portal of Luck), No Melee Penalty, Spirit Ritual.

High Priestess of Asylum   2nd Upgrd
Description: Women are respected in Asylum. Some believe that women possess even greater magical abilities than men. But Asylum Priestesses think that their abilities are different from men, rather than more powerful.
Visual: Has a more lighter color and wears white beads around the neck. They also have an aura that looks like wings on their back.
Stats: Improved attack and damage. Hp a little. Speed is same and a bit bette Init. Mana is increased to support the new spells. In terms of attack power, Priests are better.
Abilities:Shooter, Spellcaster (Spellbook - Nightmare Syndrome, Advanced Arcane Crystal, Portal of Luck), State Hold*, Splash Shot*, Spirit Ritual.

New Abilities:
State Hold: For 2 turns, this creature becomes inactive. During this time, Dream power cannot be altered.
Splash Shot: Does splash damage to all adjecent enemies of the first target.
Spirit Ritual: Once per battle, this creature can increase Dream power points.

Tier 6

Spectral Warrior:
Description: Latest experiments on human-beings have led to the creation of Spectral Warriors. They are essentially people who have been imbued with the power of the Dreamworld.
Visual: A warrior with flashy silver platemail armor and a big zweihander. (remember H2 Crusader/Paladin)
Stats: Great defense, average HP. Init, Speed and dmg are below-average though ATT is average. So this unit is basically a tank with Double attack helping to increase it`s otherwise pathetic damage.
Abilities: Enrage, Double Attack, Immune to Mind Control

Spectral Force:
Description: Leaving their physical bodies behind, some Spectral Warriors are almost completely transformed to spirits of the Dreamworld.
Visual: Same silver armor. White light comes out from various parts of it`s body.
Stats: Small addition to Attack, HP and defense values. Initiative is also increased.
Abilities: Enrage, Double Attack, Immune to Mind Control, Aura of Protection* (renamed Shield Allies), Force Burst*

Spectral Avenger:
Description:
Visual: They have black armor and their big zweihander is black and purple.
Stats: better suited for attacking than Spectral Force, their attack, Init and damage is increased to average, same with HP. Defense is increased slightly. Stat-wise, it is basically still more defense oriented
Abilities: Enrage, Double Attack, Immune to Mind Control, Mighty Blow*

New Abilities:
Force Burst: Activated ability, 2 times per battle. Spectral Force unleashes magical energies stored in him, damaging all neighboring enemies and pushing them back 2 tiles. Adds points to Dream power.
Mighty Blow:There is a chance that this creatures attack Stuns the enemy and lowers it`s defense for one turn. /the name Mighty Blow sounded familiar, maybe there is a skill named that way, but i`m too tired to check).

Tier 7

Chimaera:
Description: The most powerful Dream creature is the Chimaera. It`s power lies in the fact that it`s not a single spirit - combining the dreams of different beings has led to the creation of this wonderful being.
Visual:Looks like a regular Chimaera, except that it doesn`t have the goat head.
Stats: Again, this creature has above-average attack, damage and HP. Mediocre defense. It`s downfall is lack of Speed and Initiative.
Abilities: Large Creature, Fear Attack, Spit Poison*

Chimaera of Firestorm   1st Upgrd
Description: If all goes well, the Lion head of the Chimaera might be replaced by a dragon head. The chances are small, though, as there are few dragons found in Dreamworld.
Visual: Has a dragon head instead of a lion. Snake tail is also more dragon-like. Is a bit darker in color.
Stats:Little increase in Attack. Damage is slightly above-average for a level 6. Defense and HP are increased greatly. Speed and Init are same.
Abilities: Large Creature, Fear Attack, Stranglehold*, Immunity to Fire, Fire Breath, Firestorm*

Chaos Chimaera   2nd Upgrd
Description: Chaos Chimaera can be somewhat considered a failure. If too much energy is drawn from the Dreamworld, a creature might not be able to hold all of it. But, there are exceptions where the creature survives and then, the Chaos Chimaera is created.
Visual: Chaos Chimaera has a lion, snake and goat heads. The lion head has long teeth, the snake is covered with black spikes.
It`s color is reddish (as you might expect).
Stats: Great increase in Attack and damage. Defense is below-average, but HP is above-average, but not as much as Firestorm Chimaera`s. Init is increased slighlty.
Abilities: Large Creature, Fear Attack, Poison Vapor*, Force Charge*, Cry of Chaos*, Immunity to Poison

New Abilities:
Spit Poison: Activated ranged attack. Chimaera uses it`s snake head to spit poison to damage the enemy, poisoning it.
Stranglehold: If the Chimaera of Firestorm attacks an enemy, the snake head strangles it, immobilizing the target and doing little damage every turn.
Firestorm: The Chimaera raises it`s dragon head and bursts out hot flames around itself, covering a 6X6 tile area with flames.
Poison Vapor: This creature is surrounded by a poison vapor. Any enemy creature coming near it instantly becomes poisonous. Moreover, the snake head of this creature can also spit poison, damaging the targeted enemy (a small 1-tile vapor cloud remains there for 2 turns, poisoning any creature going in it).
Force Charge: If the Chaos Chimaera attacks the enemy from at least 4 tiles away, it uses it`s goat head to destroy enemy`s armor. Defense is decreased by 10.
Cry of Chaos: All heads of the Chaos Chimaera do a battlecry. It raises the initiative and defense of this creature and decreases morale and luck of enemy creatures. Effect lasts for 3 turns. Adds points to Dream power.

Note: All Asylum creatures are living and can be resurrected.

Racial Skill: Dream Magic
Asylum heroes are masters of Dream Magic and can communicate with another dimension, which they call The Dreamworld. They use their abilities to create "life" (as Ra`Ahmel once wished).

In combat, they harness the power of mind(s) to cast special spells. But, probably their deadliest ability is summoning the Dreamworld itself. If summoned, the battlefield is consumed by a purple fog. As the heroes are yet not powerful enough to warp into the real Dreamworld, they like to call this half-here half-there situation the Dreamstate.

Warping to Dreamstate requires special power(points) which can be gathered during combat.

Actions that increase this power:
Special Creature abilities
Casting any Dream Magic spell
Any mind related effect (eg Nightmare`s Fear or Puppet Master)
If a Dream creature moves or attacks.

Actions that decrease this power:
Taking damage
Any action (except magical abilities that increase Dream power) if Dreamstate is active. For example, if a Dream monster moes during Dreamstate, points are decreased.

Dreamstate can be summoned at any time during combat and also unsummoned at any time (Dreamstate must be active at least one turn before it can be unsummoned). If Dreamstate is active, power points decrease after every action (yours and enemy`s). Other increase/decrease rules are same as above.

Note:In general, Dream power is easier to gather and harder to dispel if Dreamstate is inactive. If Dreamstate is summoned, it`s the opposite, because Asylum creatures get extra stats and are harder to defeat. This is to balance it out a bit.

Basic Dreamstate: The Hero can use the first circle of Dream Spells and enter the Dreamstate. Maximum Dream points are limited to 400.
Advanced Dreamstate: The hero can use the second circle of Dream spells. Maximum Dream points are increased to 500.
Expert Dreamstate: The hero can use the third circle of Dream spells. Maximum Dream points are increased to 600.
Ultimate Dreamstate: Dream power point reduction is halved.

Effects of Dreamstate:
Basic: All creatures in the army get extra defense, attack and 25% magic resistance (Warlock`s irresistible magic does not decrease this resistance).
Advanced: All creatures in the army get more defense and attack and magic resistance is increased to 50%. Dream monsters get extra Speed and Initiative.
Expert: Attack and defense of all creatures is increased even more. Initiative and Morale of enemy troops is decreased.

Dream Magic: (some possible spells)

1st Circle:
Portal of Luck: Opens a portal from Dreamworld, pulling magical positive energies from there. Friendly creatures in a 4x4 tile area get extra Luck and morale. The portal lasts for 2 turns and every friendly creature walking in it in that time gets the boost.
Magic Conversion: The hero converts Dream points to Mana. Gained Mana is obiously smaller than converted Dream power.

2nd Circle:
Dreamcatcher - Summons an immobile totem, the Dreamcatcher. The Dreamcatcher adds points to Dream power every turn. Can also be used to block enemy shooters.
Half-Shift: One enemy stack is partially transported into the Dream World. This creature`s defense, HP and attack values are decreased. Also, this creature has a chance to miss it`s target. The amount of creatures transported depends on the targets total HP and hero`s spellpower.

3rd Circle:
Nightmare Syndrome - Select one friendly creature and one enemy creature. The enemy creature gets morale penalty and takes extra damage from the selected friendly creature. Does not work on elemental, undead or mechanical creatures.
Soulseeker - This spell is a reminder from the old days. The hero calls back souls of slain warriors that were killed during combat and converts them to Dream energy.
Soul Serpent: Summons a magical serpent from the Dreamworld. Stats are based on hero`s stats (like Phoenix)

I`m avoiding numbers for a reason, it would take me a year () to decide the exact amounts for it to be balanced.

We have a thunderstorm here at the moment and I might not be able to finish my faction (as I`m going away tomorrow). So I apologize for that. Even if I don`t finish it now, I will eventually.

Hey there,
I'm back and I have not yet read your cities...

I will either make a flying town of Birds, Birdmen and flying monsters
or a "Fallen Church"-Town (as opposite for my first faction posted here ;-) ), but I'll need a bit of time...

Would some Kind of "Glider" also count as a War Machine?
I think of a mechanical Glider (like a hang-glider), controlled by a man (or woman) and equipped with some rather simple weapon like a stone or spear thrower...
