(HoMM3+4) How do I edit the built-in campaigns?
Well, I want to play through the HoMM3 and HoMM4 campaigns, but they're too hard for me to do without the cheat codes. Can you open them up with the campaign editor and edit them so that they're *cough free azure dragons cough* easier?

Omg... Just try harder that is how professionals come. By playing without any cheating (you can consider map editing as cheating )

If I wanted to aggravate and annoy myself, I'd go have a nice chat with my mother.
I play games to win, not to lose.

Ok, now for another patent-pending tutorial by the HC chicken.
1. Download ResEdit here.
2. Enter ResEdit, click Open and locate your Heroes III data directory. Open the file named H3bitmap.lod for RoE, SoD or WoG campaigns, and H3ab_bmp.lod for AB campaigns.
3. In the tab next to QuickView, highlight .h3c. You should be able to see plenty of campaigns to extract.
4. Extract the campaigns you want to edit. Their names are self-explanatory. To set an extract path, press Ctrl+F. To extract highlighted files to that path, press F2.
5. Now meddle with the extracted campaigns using the campaign and map editors. Once done, pack everything back into the campaign.
6. To play the edited campaign, just drop it into your Heroes III map directory, start Heroes III and select Custom Campaign from the New Game menu.
Note. It's possible to repack the edited campaign back into the data files, thus making your changes permanent short of a reinstallation. However, you need a different program for that, and it's possible to make game-crashing errors in doing so.

Are you kidding? The Campaign contains all the scenarios, just export them, edit them and upload them back to the *.h3c file. Then back to the *.lod file

Hmph,i likely like this idea, but how could i edit the In-Game Sounds?
I saw some campaigns have the in-game musics, and some voice cover.
I know how to do one,but how to play it during prologue or epilogue ?

Can anyone tell me if this is still the best way to create/modify a campaign or point what has changed?

For now absolutly the best tool is MMArchive. Easy elegant and fast. For all games from MM6 to MM8. Will be good add H1-2 tools to have all oin one. For H4 we have Ilive tools... Resedit is danger because may destroy files so only to preview and extract.
Older good tool is Mh96. And maybe H4ResEx.
