Download C&C Red Alert
You might remember that EA released the original C&C for free a while ago. Well now they have done the same with the original Red Alert! 
You can find the download mirrors for the files at the bottom of this page.
The files are .rar so you will need a decompresses like winzip to open them.
After that the .ISO-files can be burned to a CD or mounted on Daemon tools. The files contain install instructions for Win 95/98/XP but there are ways to make it work on Vista too. Here's one that I cant test for obvious reasons but is claimed to work. I'm sure there are many more, just browse sites like planetCNC, CNCden, etc.

Install Red Alert 1.08 patch:

run in 640x480 screen resolution
disable visual themes
disable desktop composition
disable display scaling on high dpi setting

What?People who already don't have Red Alert should be ashamed!And while they release old PC games for free, they increase the prices of weapons/vehicles/maps/skins and other stuffz in consoles

Awesome game, I still remember sitting in front of the Pc with a dictionary as a kid, trying to find out what the hell that mission was about! 
Hmm... it would be awesome if someone made a graphics mod for Red Alert, like Spring for Total Annihilation...

All other aspects of the game are much easier to mod. You can mod the graphics easily too but they'll have to stay 2D and in that sense there's not much reason to start modding them. Making them 3D would require source-code modification and that's a huuuuuuuge or nigh impossible job.

The Game is pretty good too, (The bad thing is that there is no map editor. I actually disliked it fast), but Heroes is THE BEST

I mean an editor that comes along with the game (like HOMM), not one that needs to be additionally downloaded.

There is supposed to be one. Just look in the game directory. It is named EDWIN or RAEDIT. EDWIN is for windows RAEDIT for dos.
There is no official scenario editor though.

Hey, don't thank me, thank EA. (I can't believe I just said that.  )
But it's true. They really have done well releasing C&C and RA for free. Maybe they will release the expansions for RA too. Well probably they won't but still one can hope. (I have them but not all do so...) Counterstrike and Aftermath. I like them since they are much harder than the original game. To tell the truth I was a little disappointed because Red Alert was so easy when compared to the C&C but after playing those add-ons can't say that no more, no.

Well maybe the expansions come out with the RA 3 expansions and maybe when RA4 come out the source code of RA(1) will come out.Also, yes there is an editor, go to the start menu to the folder where RA is and you will find it.
Also now I'm a little nostalgic cause these were one of my favorite games when I was a little kid and now is abandoware.....Anyway going to play RA now(alies)

Tell me about it.  But nostalgia is good. It gives you that nice little feeling. I've actually been nostalgic a lot lately. Maybe entering adulthood does that to you. To remember the good times.

No worries. As long as I'm a Mod in Other Games you can rant about EA as much as you want....just so long as I can join in.
Funny this topic came up. Today at work we started packaging a Warhammer collectors set with the game, a hardcover comic book, an artwork book, and a figurine all placed in this fancy trunk thing. One of the inserts with the game was for Red Alert. It was a code to get an exclusive map or something. Either way both games looked pretty cool.
I still despise EA though. They are the most picky customers we have ever had to deal with.
