Then, testing "how good they are with children" is a lot more difficult, but that isn't covered in most papers either.

Yes, I suppose that teachers who have teach us before they graduated won't be tested on any way they interact with children

I don't get it. It's one thing to be a student, and completely different to be a teacher.

And yes Corribus, but it's pretty hard to measure how well one can teach. It also depends on the students, the mood, etc...

You say they aren't tested at all on that matter...

That's not true. We usually have alot of students here who teach us, because by next year they might graduate. If they suck at standing in front of the class, then ... Well, I have no idea what happens then.

Oh yeah that kind of testing, IMO it usually sucks and they don't do much -- sometimes they're too shy etc... And they usually get good 'grades' because their situation is understandable, but basically it also means that the test is poor.

But isn't that exactly the type of testing you proposed? A test of skills and abilities rather than grades?

Yes but I said that it is difficult to do that (and even now it is done) -- I mean it's not really difficult but with that 95% of teachers will not get the job because that's how it is usually at first sight
