Will pay someone to help customize rmg.txt

Hi,

I am willing to pay via paypal for help modifying an existing rmg.txt template to suit the needs of my friend and I.  If you are interested please let me know

I have been experimenting with some of the rmg.txt examples on http://www.toheroes.com/myths/maps/new/rmg.htm

When I play heroes, it is either:

1.) Me playing vs all computers on one team with XL/UW

2.) My friend and I playing online on one team vs all computers on one team with XL/UW

I was wondering if someone could help modify one of the existing templates to suit the needs of my friend and I.  I have spent hours trying to figure out how to get things right, but can't even get it set up for allies to work.


The feature I am looking for are:

---------------------

2 humans vs 6 comps on 1 teams or possibility for 1 human vs 7 comp on 1 team.

Map is reasonably rich in resources.

Starting areas big, but no too big that it is insane.

A map with a large amount of utopias, good chance for azure dragons and dwellings for the most powerful creatures

A convoluted and enormous underworld

Many treasure areas with tons of great artifacts in upper and UW

Not too many portals, an average number of castles but not too many.

Nothing banned.  Starting castle is on proper native terrain.  All areas about equally good.

Any bonuses that might help make the computer stronger than usual but nothing ridiculous.

Extract the original RMG from the game, delete all the lines except the ones for 2Sm4d and 8Xm..something, and you will get what you want.

@xarfax: i dont think 2Sm4d has a "good chance" of getting azure dragons. at least ive never seen any on it in the last ~100games ive played.

Not sure what you mean.  I didn't see the text you mentioned in RMG.txt templates like:

Also, the I am looking to configure it so I can play as either me vs 7 computers on one team, or 2 human players on one team vs 6 computer players. XL w/ UW

you can extract the original rmg.txt from the "H3bitmap.lod" file which is located in the data folder of the h3 installation using "resedit.exe" or "lodman.exe".

i googled for resedit.rar and found the program and got it working.

2SM4d didn't appear to work for XL/UW maps
8XM8 looks solid but could use a few slight adjustments..



i want to make it so all creatures and all creature dwellings have possibility of appearing on map, including rust, crystal and azure dragons. i have never seen crystal or azure dragons, or their dwellings, on a standard random map, but i would like to.. could somebody help me out with this?

other than this, i can't think of anything else that needs to be changed.

Is there a way to fix the 8XM8 template so pink isn't always landlocked?  It appears they are guaranteed to be landlocked every game

Midnight's mix is a template, which is not what you want, but spawns greater dragons lairs and is very good imho.

Ok...have to admit I completely forgot about that project. Sorry for that. I got some time to spare between X-mas and New Year. I will create a new temp with the settings you described, and also try to adjust the 8XM8 template a bit so the landlocked part should be eleminated, and some colored dragons should also be seen.

No, sorry. Mostly because I forgot I do not have Excel on my comp at home, and working on rmg.txt with text-editor is a pain. So I have to do that at work. But at work, I can't test those rmg's, coz I do not have H3 installed
I will create the basic matrix for your rmg, and than test it at home. The little adjustments I have to make afterwards aren't that hard to do without Excel, but the first creation has to be in a form where you have coloumns and lines etc...

Will tell ya when I am ready with my first release...

I started already, but it is much more complicated to make a template for 8 players then for 4. Especially the area sizes are tough to handle. This will take a little bit more time. I don't wanna give you a rmg which is completely boring due to too many flaws. I have to make some more experiments to see how I can arrange it better.

Some questions:

1. How many areas all in all do you wanna have? (approx.)
2. Do you want towns in every area? (means there will be a road in every area too)
3. Areas without towns could be "connecting" areas, means you will have at least 2 roads crossing in that area, or they are connected by 2way monoliths.
4. You wanna have those Azure dwellings and similar richness in all starting areas, or in connecting areas?
5. You wanna have ALL starting areas on above terrain, and all other areas in underground (for example)?
6. What difficulty do you play mostly? (Is important for the strength of the guards to 2nd, 3rd etc.. area)
7. Is it ok the template can ONLY be played on XL +U?

Will come up with some more questions when I have built more of the rmg...

RMG.txt includes hidden symbols, so some text editors may not save it correctly. I highly recommend to use specialized editor for homm3 files: TEXTEDITOR

I have completed the rmg today at work and will try some maps at home later. I will give some feedback when done...



Ok, here is the feedback:

Template fits your description pretty well:

1. Map size is XL + U
2. Playable as 2h vs 6c or 1h vs 7h
3. Every starting area has starting town (with fort prebuilt) and 1 additonal town of same type (without fort prebuilt)
4. The 8 starting areas are all in upper world, normal size.
5. Every starting area has ONE connection to a second smaller area. The guards here for human player are 3 times tougher than for the computer players. (area 1 is connected to area 9, area 2 to 10, area 3 to 11 ....area 8 to 16)
6. Human player starts in area 1, and second human player in area 5.
7. First contact with other players are possible between those 2nd areas (area 9 is connected to 10 through area 17, area 11 is connected to 12 through area 18, area 13 is connected to area 14 through area 19,etc...)
8. The connection areas 17-20 are very rich, similar to Treasure area in Extreme II (tons of boxes, relics and utopias)
9. Big junction area 21 is insanely rich, similar as in Frozen Dragons (many Azure dwellings etc...)
10. The guards between 2 areas are always weaker for computer players than for humans.
11. Starting areas could be tough due to strong guards everywhere. Even wood and ore mine are guarded by level 1 or level 2 units. (can reduce that if u want)

Please check it out and gimme some feedback what things you wanna have changed.

I checked this template now and saw the creators completely forgot about additional connection for area 8 (starting area of pink).
Do you have the original rmg.txt? Or an extracted 8XM8?
If so, I can explain to you how to add the missing connections. It is pretty simple. You just have to add 4 more numbers, that's all.

And one more note: Teams can't be determined in a template, only in random settings in the game itself (where you define how many players etc...)
