Obamas grandmother passes monday the 3rd

If you didnt know this has just happened a few hours before I'm posting. She died peacefully in her sleep. I hope republicans (which I used to be now I'm no party) dont try anything to make Obama cry or whatnot. Anyways, here is some news. Obama seems pretty calm about it he says "she's gone home".

assosiated press

the press assosiation (short)

etc - google.

I don't really see how this is of any importance but yes it's sad. The fact that it's Obamas grandmother that died doesn't make it any sadder though.

What's the thread for?

Some people just forget that it isn't strictly US politics/economics forum

joking. Tbh I also don't think it's worth a topic, though.

As sad as this is, it may actually give Obama some extra credit, due to simpathy issues and stuff.

Dam, now Obama may be remembered as "the guy who won the president election over his mothers body"......

A sad world of exploits.

Will you guys chill? It's not like it's his fault that she died. NO WAIT!! IT WAS ALL PLANNED!!

If this has a positive effect on his campaign he's simply "lucky" in that aspect. And no one would exploit the death of their own grandmother... Atleast no semi civilized ( Obama is way passed that) human being.

It's really not going to have that much of an effect.

To be honest I can't even imagine the kind of people who are still undecided between the two lol

But if he does win, he will definitely go down in history for obvious reasons and bore many a generation of school children to come

Having said that, I doubt he will remain for a second term, because America is such a wreck and he's bound to get the blame for what he's inheriting.

I agree, a lot of people die everyday and people ignore more or less, yet only when 'important' people die it's so sad that everyone goes with "OMG!"

Just because it's Obama's grandmother doesn't mean that she is more important than the other more 'obscure' people who die.

I feel sad for him... if she had lived like one day more she could very likely have seen her grandson as president

I hope he wins

I recall numerous times when relative of any competitor in any competition dies and then he wins the competition.

If you don't have anything to contribute but complaining maybe you shouldn't post at all. Let the thread die instead maybe? Since you think its so worthless maybe it will.

At another forum is where I got the news and there was a nice discussion about the whole situation. Maybe I had my expectations up wrongly for HC.

I wonder if someone's in the voting booth thinking: "awww, man, this guy's grandma just died... I can't let him down, can I?"

Theres a lot of voters, I'm sure at least one of them will think like that, especially if they are on the fence.

I wonder if the people of everywhere will ever say it was a conspiracy. They say that to anything that involves one making it out more ahead.

So it's President Bush's fault when everything goes wrong but if something isn't working well when Obama is president, it's not his fault?

Key difference is that Bush has been in charge for 8 years and now the country is a wreck.

Obama has been in charge for 0 years and the country is a wreck, how can it be his fault?

I can't really see how you can argue that Bush hasn't done a monumental job of screwing things up.
The simple fact is that his administration turned the largest surplus into the largest debt in history and bankrupted the country by fighting two wars on two tax cuts and two rebates, importing more than they export and borrowing more than they lend.
While other things might be other people's fault, for instance it's not Bush's fault that Lehman's went bankrupt or Obama's grandmother died or my maths exam yesterday was ****ing hard, but other things are his fault and he, as one of the most powerful men in the world, should be held accountable.

When Bush failed, the world blamed him and him alone.  But if Obama fails, you're prepared to blame Bush again because it wasn't Obama's fault things were tough.  Gotta love it.
