Huh... I just noticed I had a super-special awesome AVG Disccleaner tool. I used that one and it apparently removed all the entries without any problems.

Problem solved

I was running with root because I didn't want the stupid password prompts all the time. (Even when installing updates!) But then certain programs (like pulseaudio) don't like me being root.

But you are running Ubuntu, after the initial 2-4 updates, just chance the updated to just bug you once a month, and suddenly, you don't need to be root.

Funny as I never once had that problem. Just seems like you have absolutely no idea when it comes to computers (I've been reading your posts and lol).

Guys, do you have any idea what might be wrong with my PC?

It has to be plugged in 24h/day... else it refuses to start (the light on motherboard just keeps blinking; it tries to stabilize the 12V but fails and repeats over and over).

Today I got a 30min power outage and ofc the damn thing is dead and cannot be turned on. The bad thing is the light isn't even blinking anymore, it just seems completely dead.

Since I obviously have to buy something new, I'm torn between new power supply and new motherboard, since one of those things must have died... I don't understand how on earth it can work like that (it seems like it loses capacity when offline and within 5 min can't start but capacitors are all fine on motherboard...) Sure there are capacitors in the power supply but even if they were failing it shouldn't work like that. Lol idk. Ideas? I can't get someone else's power supply to check, I must guess which one failed, and I'd rather not take a bad guess.

edit: I did a forced start on ATX and the power supply remained dead... so yup, power supply

Well I know I'd rather replace the power supply than the MB!

Given that the power supply is both easier to replace and less expensive, you'll probably need to replace the motherboard.
