Because you didn't say they suck.

You called them snows.

What's worse, you are defending this bull with your life, in fact you are insisting on being perfectly alright.

Which means, you deserve to be called a really stupid mothersnower.

Check how fast this thread evolved from easthetical discussion in the first post to insulting and attacking the people.
Sorry for that.

It's just that I am always literally annoyed when people speak stuff about me wrongly (such as, being "Jack the Ripper" and such, you know what I mean ).

Quote:
Tell girl she's not attractive and then -suprise!-  I'm a gay. For sure it will be very funny.
Can't you really see it's all offensive?
I don't understand what you mean, but what I said was this:

Gay people say ALL women aren't beautiful and that men are MUCH BETTER. Does that make them sexist?

One thing is for sure though, I find it worse for someone to remain silent and not know how he is on the inside than to let him speak. Of course I understand why people get annoyed by the word "snow" (technically it's not an offensive word on the same level as you know what... but still bad), but I have said countless times that I don't mean the literal version of it.

I have absolutely no idea how to put it differently -- we have "emo" and "goth", but there's no word that I know of for this in english at least (could be my stupidity though).

@JJ: No I already said that I don't mean the english literal word of "snow" (I already said, in romanian we have such a word to describe it without resorting to "snow", but I don't know how to translate it, and some translators put there either ***** or "snow", which both are wrong, and some don't translate at all).

Ok I already said, it was a mistake from the beginning to use "snow" (but I put it in quotes) but frankly since I always used quotes for the last few pages I'm not sure how to replace it with a single word or a small sentence, not a whole paragraph like I explained.

I would like a word like "goth" or "emo" but for these 'type' of girls (in short, a word LIKE that but NOT one of those). I assume those aren't offensive?

And what if I say that they LOOK and act like snows (this time literally)? I mean based from my experience at least (both first-hand and from the media).

Now I realize it COULD be offensive, but let's just clarify this before moving on.

EDIT: and with the "sucks" thing, I said heavy makeup sucks

You don't know many gay people do you? Eventhough this may sound like nit picking I'd just like to inform you that you're wrong and this is another horrible generalisation.

I'll reply to all your stuff later I just really don't feel like spoiling my good mood now (what a hedonist pig I am).

Ok seriously it was just an example lol.
Some people say that they find nothing beautiful (truth). Then again there are those with synesthesia who find colors "delicious" and "feel" sounds and "hear" numbers (no, they are NOT crazy).

Ok I have to apologize now for any aggressiveness but sometimes I just can't help it, even though it's rare.
Sometimes especially when people start to call me certain ways I am not. Of course especially after there are misinterpretations. (yes I acknowledge, I did TOO misinterpret some things, not just you did).

I hope it's ok

I've been suggested the word "snow" (even though technically, it doesn't have the correct definition I have in mind, but it has TWO alternative definitions on dictionary.com and I take the first one). Is that more "ok" than "snow"?

Is it better to let woman kill her unborn child or let it live without hands? You may have your opinion, but I see the problem elsewhere.

Why the hell do you seek the most negative words possible to express your opinion? Do you really not tolerate them at all, find them not worth calling a woman? What, who causes all this hate? Please explain as I really can't understand.

I'm not saying that women who dress sexy are snows. Far from it. I'm saying that they often look like snows.

Mvass when you made that "usually" statement did you have any ground to base it on?
Yes. Personal experience. In fact, I can only think of a couple of girls that are an exception to this general rule. In the vast majority of cases, it is true, at least from my perspective.

JJ:

Very well, perhaps you'd actually like some quotes from girls I know who dress sexy.
Girl 1: My parents trust me, so I can break their trust all the time! I tell them I'm going to visit my brother, but I really go to my boyfriend's to have sex.
---
Teacher: What year did [something] happen?
Girl 2: 1876.
Teacher: No, try a little later.
Girl 2: 1878.
Teacher: No, right in between those two.
Girl 2: There's not an 1876 and a half!

And these are just occasional examples.

You read and don't understand.

Try and find a word that fits which would be possible to use on both men and women for the same behaviour.
If you can't come up with one you are thinking in indecent-for-women/no-matter-for-men categories which you simply should think over.
Remember, women have the same rights than men. Women can have as many sex partners as men. Women are allowed to have sex ONLY without thinking about relationships and children and stuff.
Would you call men hanging out in clubs showing off muscles and good looks with the intention to score snows? Or snows?

It seems like we came back on topic and discuss the way they dress, not who they are and how we might insult them.

It looks like a high time to give some examples, doesn't it?

It was just a word I was suggested, no need to get that deep into it

I'm not really familiar with that term either (and consequently, with some english about it), so I asked before to make sure and you act as if I went ahead and called them that when I only did it to make sure.

Thanks Azagal for letting me know it's just as bad as "snow".

And yes I call men "snows" too
I thought it was common to do it? Seems my english regarding this stuff is worse than I thought.

I don't understand why you think I only blame women for that though (since some times, those "macho" guys who also happen to be "snows" are the ones actually who SHOW OFF too) -- remember that of course, I am more biased towards women (as to how I perceive them), because I don't particularly find guys "beautiful" or "ugly" (well some indeed I do find ugly or whatever but not that detailed), since I'm not gay

So technically, I can't really express it as well as women, but I wouldn't mind if someone else (a woman, or someone gay/bisexual) would.

We love them dressed or undressed, it's just that some of us can express it better, while others sink in "snow" comments. What about getting the debate higher and deserve by that the 7'th word marvel, the Woman.

Edgar Allan Poe: Annabel Lee

"It was many and many a year ago,
In a kingdom by the sea,
That a maiden there lived whom you may know
By the name of Annabel Lee;
And this maiden she lived with no other thought
Than to love and be loved by me.

I was a child and she was a child,
In this kingdom by the sea:
But we loved with a love that was more than love -
I and my Annabel Lee;
With a love that the winged seraphs of heaven
Coveted her and me.

And this was the reason that, long ago,
In this kingdom by the sea,
A wind blew out of a cloud, chilling
My beautiful Annabel Lee;
So that her high-born kinsmen came
And bore her away from me,
To shut her up in a sepulchre
In this kingdom by the sea.

The angels, not half so happy in heaven,
Went envying her and me -
Yes! that was the reason (as all men know,
In this kingdom by the sea)
That the wind came out of the cloud one night,
Chilling and killing my Annabel Lee.

But our love it was stronger by far than the love
Of those who were older than we -
Of many far wiser than we -
And neither the angels in heaven above,
Nor the demons down under the sea,
Can ever dissever my soul from the soul
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee;

For the moon never beams without bringing me dreams
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee;
And the stars never rise but I feel the bright eyes
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee;
And so, all the night-tide, I lie down by the side
Of my darling -my darling -my life and my bride,
In the sepulchre there by the sea -
In her tomb by the sounding sea."

*shakes head*

What are you people arguing over? It's just a damn word. It's already been said that it's offensive. Everyone knows the word is not meant literally. Everyone has some idea what is meant by it in the context of the thread. It's simply a poor choice of words for a woman who is dressed in a way that some may find vulgar or not the "virtuous girl" they'd want to marry.

What the heck is vulgar anyway? Is an Arabic woman who doesn't cover her face vulgar? Is Marie Antoinette displaying large amounts of white powdered bosom vulgar? Is a completely nude woman going for a swim vulgar? Is Michelangelo's statue of David vulgar? (don't look because his pee pee is showing)

Whatever term you want to apply, whether it's vulgar, sleazy, snowty, snow, or whatever, we all have some image of what is being referred to based on our own culture and personal idea of when it crosses some line from being tastefully sexy to being [insert choice of word here].

There's more than one way to discuss similar topics. Here's an example. This thread was in response to a picture that was posted at HC in the RL pic thread.

Well, it's not JUST a damn word. Words are POWERFUL: snow;  heathen; infidel; snow; subhuman. And so on.
They suggest inferiority in some way, morally, religiously, humanly, which lead to them being viewed as inferior, "unworthy", less than human, and so on.

There is no excuse and no justification for this kind of thing.

If someone shows off with something you are free to look the other way. It's something you have to learn in capitalism anyway, because capitalism tries to hook you any second with simple direct incentives. Some advertising, for example, works like that.

But it's even worse. Experience shows that those who are loudest and strictest with moral labels are often those with the biggest skeletons in closets, morally spoken. As a rule of thumb - those who cry "snow" loudest are straight favorites of trafficking with them or at least wanting it in secret.

So, no. It's a lot more than JUST a word. It's much, much more.
