Things are looking up for the group, Ripple gets tired of dodging the woman..and the next time she appears backhands her knocking her cold. The boy (the paladin) was having a bit of rough time with the felines, but as managed to hit both at once knocking one out. Which meant the other could not switch powers. He was taken out by the fire elemental. Soon only the Brick, the warrior, and the speedster was left standing.
Still fighting Overlord, it was a epic battle. Both were giving as good as they got, despite Overlord getting weaker every second he was in the presence of the warrior. Soon it was too much, and Overlord couldn't even raise his sword anymore. The guy closed in and went for the killing blow. CLANG! His sword met a sword of Energy, and a quite physical sword. On one side was the quiet little girl Overlord was ment to protect, and on the other the Paladin. Easily the man sends both flying, only slowed a little.
However, seeing the other girl hurt Fate suddenly gets a very angry look on her face. Energy starts gathering around her..and she starts advancing toward the two remaining foes. "YOU HURT HER!" she growls. "SHE WAS JUST PROTECTING A FRIEND AND YOU HURT HER!" the field intensifies, litterally pushing down to the floor everybody, including your group..it is impossible to move. "NOBODY HURTS HER!!!!" the field unleashes slamming into both of the remaining two enemies..the 'brick'and 'speedster' falls instantly.
To everybody's suprise the warrior takes everything Fate throws at him and remains standing barely. He slowly drops his sword. "I yeild."
You hear clapping..."Bravo...Bravo. You are stronger then we thought. Now, it is time for the main event." Dropping from the ceiling is two figures dressed all in black with a white starburst on their chest. Identical in everyway, including the cheesy capes they are wearing. They look at Jorn. "As cheesy as ever I see. We thought we killed you once. We will not leave anything this time, just to be sure."

Dr. Crates was mid-stride when he found himself pushed to the ground by mysterious force. As a result, he skidded down the rise of rubble he’d been climbing and ended up with a mouthful of grit. He just finished spitting the loose gravel and melting ice out of his mouth in time to witness the appearance of the twins in black and white.
The medic blinked owlishly up at the smug twins for a moment while the part of his brain still wrapped in shock-inspired numbness filtered through a few tidbits of information he’d managed to soak up in spite of his current mental affliction. His home world didn’t have the same constellations or it would have been obvious, but nevertheless he’d seen and heard enough to be suspicious…
The masked man’s voice, the one who was dying. “They are coming. We can't fight them both together.”
A poster on a building, identical to a hundred other posters on a hundred other buildings. Gemini knows what is best for you, obey or be eliminated.
Jorn’s voice, now. “…I don't think we can handle them both together…”
The woman at the portal. “Gemini has been getting worse and worse over the years…”
A white banner with a black starburst on it.
“…Now they are just purely viscious.”
“Are you…Gemini?”

Overlord stood up, still shaking from the battle, he approached his opponent despite the pain it caused him and dropped to his knee.
"YOU WERE ROBBED FROM YOUR RIGHTFUL VICTORY AND FOR THAT I APOLOGIZE. YOU HAVE DEFEATED ME IN A FAIR FIGHT AND IF YOU WISH TO TAKE MY LIFE NOW, IT IS YOURS."
"Where would be the sense in that?", the warrior answered, looking straight into Overlord's burning eyes, "The battle is long over. Killing you now would only mean taking a great warrior from this world and there aren't too many of us left nowadays. Live, warrior, and maybe one day we will cross swords again."
Overlord nodded and went over to the girl and the paladin boy who still lay on the ground. In the background Gemini made their appearance, but Overlord didn't even notice them. He reached his saviors and leaned on his sword, his powers returned to him as he got further away from the holy warrior, but he was still weakened by the fight. He looked at the two little children who endangered themselves in order to protect him. One of them barely knew the black knight and the other never get an ounce of affection from him. And still, here they both lay after bravely jumping into the fray against a much stronger opponent. Overlord spoke, notes of irritation ringing in his voice:
"I DID NOT ASK YOU TO HELP ME. YOU INTERRUPTED A FAIR COMBAT AND ROBBED A GOOD WARRIOR OF HIS VICTORY..." Overlord paused for a moment, "AND IF THAT'S NOT ENOUGH, YOU ALSO SAVED MY LIFE, AND THAT'S NOT SOMETHING I CAN FORGET OR LET PASS BY UNNOTICED. A DAY WILL COME AND I WILL REPAY MY DEBT... TO BOTH OF YOU."

Before answering Crates question they turn to the last standing Warrior. "Your orders were to finish them. You gave your word of Honor to fight who we tell you to fight. Finish them."
"My word does not include children, you very well know that. My sword will not take the life of a child for any reason. I am less for even striking them, but I could not cease my reflexive blow." he stands with square shoulders not backind down from Gemini.
"You will be dealt with at our leisure." they turn to Crates. "We are indeed Gemini. Surrender and we may let you live."
The warrior looks at Overlord and the group. "Go, flee. I will hold them here for a short time. Seek the Nexus, gain enough power there to defeat them then return." he picks up his weapon and stands between you and Gemini..facing them.
About that time Ghost pops up with Jorns team, having freed them in the chaos.

Crates was starting to haze out again.
He had been staring at empty space over the nearest Gemini's shoulder, and was only just realizing he was doing so when he noticed the girl with the muzzle shaking his arm. She seemed rather frantic and was signing something rapidly--he was too out of it to make sense of what, though. At her urging he got shakily to his feet, and the two of them went to regroup with Jorn, Overlord and the others while the swordsman distracted Gemini.

Overlord stood up, his powers still haven't fully recovered, but at least he could stand without shaking now. He raised his sword and stood up next to the warrior facing the Gemini. The warrior looked at him for a moment and said:
"What are you doing? I told to get out of here. I'll hold them."
"NO. I WILL NOT RUN FROM BATTLE. I WILL STAY HERE AND FIGHT BY YOUR SIDE."
"Even at the peak of our power we could hardly defeat these two. And now when the two of us are weakened after the fight and you can barely stand when I'm around we have absolutely no chance. If you really want to thank for sparing your life, take your team into the Nexus, get stronger and then come back to avenge me. Now go!"
Overlord hesitated for a moment, but finally let out a frustrated growl and ran towards the exit. He picked the two kids who were still lying on the floor and shouted to others:
"YOU HEARD HIM! EVERYONE MOVE TOWARD THE NEXUS! NOW!"
As he passed Jorn he snarled at him:
"IT LOOKS LIKE YOU'VE BEEN SAVED AGAIN. I HAVE MORE IMPORTANT THINGS TO DO THAN CUTTING YOUR HEAD OFF NOW."
And without stopping to wait for a reply Overlord kept on running back to where the entrance to the Nexus was waiting.

As the group made their way to the Nexus portal..Bolt started to slow down. "It ain't right." he mutters..then he stops. "You go ahead..I can't let him face them alone. I am going back. They will find they can't drain me, cause I am not a mutant. I am .. something else. They will find out exactly what this old soldier has left in him." and with that he turns and races back toward the Geminis.
Even from where you are, you can see that the warrior is giving Gemini some trouble. Your not sure how, but it seems Gemini can't drain his ability..which means he will deffinately slow them down. You hit the portal, and on the other side...
Something feels like, briefly, it is ripping you apart. ((Overlord and Jorn only, Crates is use to this)). Your powers are ripped from you and form a seperate entity. Overlords 'Battle Avatar' is a Husk of black metal armor with firey orbs for eyes. ((Have to come up with the Avatar's 'powers' that would corrispond to the powers in MEGA)). Jorn's is...well different. It looks like a iceberg given human shape (and only about as big as a human).

As Dr. Crates passed back into the Nexus, he felt as though a weight had been lifted off of him--then he realized that it had: his armor was gone as mysteriously as it had come. He was once again in his medical uniform.
"Welcome to the Nexus, I suppose," Crates remarked aloud to those assembled.
He blinked to clear his eyes, but without effect. He patted the bridge of his nose experimentally, only to find it clear of any form of optical correction. Just as when he'd first arrived in the Nexus, everything more than six inches from his face--including his current company--was heavily blurred, and on top of that he didn't have his glasses. Someone somewhere was laughing, he was sure.
A large, semi-familiar shape parted the humanoid blurs around him with a speed that was just shy of threatening. The beast of blades butted its head under his seeking hands.
"Hello you," he greeted his Avatar.
What he didn't see--and, judging by their nature, never would--was the pair of transparent triangular plates on his Avatar's head that melted at his touch. He did feel something wet trickle over his hands--and decided after a second or so that no, it wasn't wet, it was--metal?
My glasses! "Thank you." Crates picked them up and placed them back on his face, the world clearing instantly.
((Lol, I just realized--he still hasn't introduced himself! XD))

The first thing that Overlord felt after entering the Nexus was... weight. The enormous weight of a full plate armor suddenly lay down on his now meek body. Surprised, he held his enormous sword in his right arm and lifted it... about 2 inches higher. Even more surprised and slightly worried he tried lifting it up with both hands. That helped, he could finally hold the sword steady, but there was absolutely no way he could ever swing it. Hundreds and hundreds of years of practice in the skill of swordsmanship, both in world of the living and that one of the dead, were now completely useless to him because he could not lift up his weapon. Overlord focused all his rage caused by his state on the sword, trying to surround it in flames... nothing, not even a spark. This was more extremely disheartening.
Exhausted from all this, the black knight put his sword down and leaned on it. Suddenly, another thought occurred to him - not only did he feel the weight of the armor encumbering him, he did not sense it. Since the day he put on that wondrous metal there was sort of connection between it and him. It became a part of him, protecting him from all harm... until now. That feeling, that connection was gone. Now it was nothing but a piece of black metal, which menacing as it was could never protect him from any serious weapon.
He cried in anger:
"WHAT IN THE NAME OF HADES IS GOING ON!?!", the sound of his booming voice seemed to calm him down a bit, at least he still had this much, "WHAT HAPPENED TO MY POWERS?"
As those words left his leaps he heard the clank of metal approaching from behind him and a tall shadow covered him whole. He turned around and saw a huge set of armor with red glowing eyes. It was like looking in the mirror... through a magnifying glass because the armor towered high above him.
"WHAT THE HELL IS THAT THING? WOULD SOMEBODY FINALLY EXPLAIN TO ME WHAT IS HAPPENING IN THIS WRETCHED PLACE?"

The girl known as Fate speaks in her typical meek voice. "This is the Nexus. Beings of great and terrible power come here to prove themselves. Some would have too large of an advantage if they have access to all of their powers. So the builder of the nexus, whoever that is, set forth rules. One such rule is the Battle Avatars. All your powers go into one of them. They will obey you without question."
She is about to continue with more information when a being of light appears. Fate sort of pales and gulps. "Child." the voice is powerful but gentle. "You have broken the sacred laws. Your power is not meant to be used on mortals..for any reason. You know this."
He moves toward Fate, gliding more then walking, but you notice a bit of sorrow in his eyes. "You had an agreement with HIM. You broke the covenant. I am sorry, you must come with me."
"Technically.." answers the NX (? the floating jellyfish)."That is incorrect Michael, and you are well aware of that. She can not use her ability on Earth, now called MegaCity, or in any part of the universe that Earth is home to. Since, we were in an outlying province of the Nexus when she used her powers, she did not break the covenant."
Turning the Angel flares up his wings, now looking like they are on fire, his aura shining brightly and painfully, he produces a flaming sword. "You DARE challenge me!?"
NX looks perfectly calm. "Seeing as you have no jurisdiction here, and most of your power is for show in the Nexus, yes. We both know that though you and your ilk do not have Battle Avatars, your powers and authority are greatly reduced."
Michael closes on poor NX, not looking as if he has lost an ounce of power..

The beast of blades stepped between the airborne jellyfish and the sword-wielding collection of intersecting lines ((XD sorry)) while Crates, squinting, looked on bewildered and feeling as one who has picked up a book halfway through.
Razor-blade feet picked their way carefully across the floor and the Avatar's head picked up regally, metal protrusions gleaming with reflected light. The beast of blades snapped irritably at the winged newcomer, tail swishing; the sound seemed scolding.

The Angel approaches the little beast of blades with fire emiting from his eyes and surrounding his wings. Made for War with the serpent, he is one of the greater angel's..some say death incarnate. Even the mighty Lucifer was cast down by his hands..but the little beast knows nothing of that. As he approaches the beast hisses and prepairs to strike. Throwing back his head the Angel laughs.."Oh I like this one! I think you are in good company and will be safe my daughter." he pats the Battle Avatar on the back, causing it a lot of confusion. "As you said.." he reverts to his normal angelic mode "she was not in our jurisdiction when she used her abilities. We will be watching."
As he disspears you notice that the halls of the Arena have changed a bit. Now whole worlds can be seen where doors once were. Yet ahead the Arena still beckons, a great distance off.

The beast of blades shut its jaws with a sound halfway between a snap and a click, then shook violently as though ridding itself of excess water; it seemed more disgruntled than anything. It trotted back over to Crates and circled him protectively, claw-blades clicking on the floor as it went.
The medic meanwhile seemed to need the support; he slowly sank to his knees, breathing heavily, eyes partially closed against the afterlights of so much brightness.
"Will someone please tell me what that was about?" There was an edge of desperation to the question, the last futile graspings of a man who felt he was only just barely clinging to the edge of sanity and about to lose his grip.
No more...too much strangeness...I can't take this any more...

Before anyone could answer the little girl standing next to Overlord collapsed on the floor. Overlord looked at her from above and asked in an annoyed voice:
"WHAT THE HELL IS THE MATTER WITH YOU? DON'T TELL ME YOU'RE TIRED ALREADY, WE HAVEN'T EVEN MOVED YET."
"Are you really that blind, protector?" Jorn looked at his counterpart with disapproval, "Your avatar has an unholy aura about it. I can't believe you didn't notice that until now. That wretched thing is hurting everyone around him... except you apparently. The girl you're supposed to protect will die if she stays to close to your own manifestation. Why did the gods give this role I'll never know..."
"GRHHH... AVATAR! MOVE THERE!" Overlord points towards the Arena.
The huge armor suit slowly walked in the direction it was pointed to. When it came to about ten feet from Overlord the girl opened her eyes.
"AVATAR, STOP! FROM NOW ON YOU ARE TO MAINTAIN THAT DISTANCE BETWEEN US, UNLESS IN CASE OF EMERGENCY, UNDERSTAND?"
The armor nodded silently and took a stance. Overlord looked at the girl as she stood up on her feet again. When it became clear that no permanent damage is done to her, he turned to Dr. Crates:
"YOU. YOU SAID YOU WERE IN THE NEXUS BEFORE, WHERE DO WE GO NOW TO BECOME STRONGER?"

((Heads-up: I'm going to be AFK from tomorrow morning until some time late Thursday--so for practical purposes probably until Friday.))
Dr. Crates took a short breath to steady himself before replying. "Anywhere. Everywhere. Most come here to fight, as you said. Just keep moving and you'll eventually run into something." A thought floated up out of murky mental depths. The medic pushed himself unsteadily to his feet, leaning on his Avatar. "If I were to hazard a guess however, I'd say you'd probably find stiffer competition closer to the center."
