Writer's corner
Hello Heroes Community and welcome to the writer's corner.
This place is meant to be a creative hang out spot. I'm hoping it will be a little more structured than the Volcanic Wastelands. On the other hand it doesn't need to be as in depth as the things that go on in the Bards Glade.
A forum isn't really conducive to pages and pages of writing but I think some short stories or even ideas that people would be willing to share would get some great feedback from our members here at HC.
Once in a while I get a creative urge to write creatively. You can see an (silly) example here. I can't be the only one. This thread provides an outlet for me and for all of you who feel the same way.
I do not want to see any bashing of other members' ideas or attacks on peoples language skills. I won't tolerate it in this thread and I know the mod team will back me up within the COC.
I know that for many here at HC English is not the first or primary language even though the boards are in English. If you feel you need help with something, spelling, or more advanced, you can ask for help in this thread or you can ask in the advanced lessons thread
Hopefully this will take off and inspire me to contribute some stories! After all, this is a tavern, and we should tell some stories.

Cool idea. I hope it takes off as well. I might even contribute some stories as well (when I have time). It will be cool to see what you and others can come up with.

Writers block is where I cant start or finish anything.. Watch....
See? I couldnt come up with one line lol.
OK after some time I came up with 4 basic segments...
my message is lyrical
Underneath the skies.
A translucent delusion
Breaks before my eyes.
Never take the chalice
If it means your own life
Hold it to your lips
And feel the ice cold knife
Whats it going to be now
Says the blind to the seer
Only he who can see himself
Will know which side of the mirror
Which side do you stand on?
Are those feet that your using?
do you feel your thoughts?
Is this message confusing?

This is a poem I made(with alot of help from my friend del_diablo) to one of my many unfinnished stories/books/tales/whatever they are.
Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you: The Poem of Death
Sword and shield,
bow and arrow
and all that is narrow,
all weapons used by foolish men.
They are used well by the fools,
but all could really drool,
he who dedices who don't deserve,
dedices who is ready to serve.
Who is gonna rebuild the lands,
its all in the reaper's hands!
Elfs don't see it,
Kra'Sans don't hear it,
Dwarfs don't taste it,
Minotaurs don't smell it,
Goblins don't think about it,
Humans don't belive it,
everyone is unaware,
the real master of the battle.
Wolfs smell it,
Rats sense it,
Bats taste it,
Dogs see it,
Cats hear it,
But he can't touch them.
The death for them is not his to decide.
But mere mortal can resist him,
but will always bow in the end to him.
But not always because of his hands,
or if he feel like letting him live by his hands.
He is Death,
Fear him,
Pray to him,
But he don't care.

Barely a poem... ;)
So I wonder now if what you said to me
ever meant anything,
because I thought we were meant to be.
Perhaps we are, but not in the same way.
Not in the same way I thought us to be.
But, it doesn't matter; it's just a day.
Tomorrow may not be the same.
For yesterday was special.
And today shall be as well.
May tomorrow be a claim to fame.
Even if we're far apart,
You're happy now, with someone else.
I am happy in that you're happy,
and maybe I should play my part.
Being a friend, that's all I can be for now.
And watch you smile.
And hold you tight when you're in pain.
And cry with you.
Because as a friend, that is what I can endow.
You have a special place in my heart.
You surely know it.
I'm sure I have one there as well.
Somewhere.
Inside some place you may never reach.
But, to me, this is just the start...

That's beautiful, winter.
I'd almost say that that's true love.
It reminds me of Philip larkin, somehow:
The difficult part of love
Is being selfish enough,
Is having the blind persistence
To upset an existence
Just for your own sake.
What cheek it must take.
And then the unselfish side -
How can you be satisfied,
Putting someone else first
So that you come off worst?
My life is for me.
As well ignore gravity.
This is not a HC writer, but just look what I compare you to...

A Little Dose Of Love
I'm posting another article I wrote for my blog a few days ago. I hope you'll enjoy it!
------------------
A choice of profession is a delicate thing. It’s as important as whom to marry or where to make a home. Working is a multi-layer necessity, first of all because it’s the sole source of income for most of us and second because even wealthy folk who do not rely on salaries have to do something with their time. Besides, we are forced into getting involved with things and meeting people, which can be a challenge for the more sheepish of us to achieve otherwise. The bottom line is, we work to fulfill needs and when a consideration of priorities is given, it’s evident we often have too much on our plates.
Indeed, there are many things to take into account when we plan a career, all depending on which needs come first. Financially it must be adequate to cover an expected standard of life. Second, the personal qualities: shy, meek people don’t make good salesmen. Third, willingness to get involved: don’t go for MD if you don’t want to do the overtime. Next: fringe benefits and prestige. And then of course we all have expiration dates. I don’t know of a 60-year-old supermodel. What a hodge-podge! No wonder that most of us get into a certain profession purely by accident.
So at the time I was 16, I could already see the light at the end of the tunnel with high school coming to an end in a year or two. That meant it was time to take care of that delicate thing called choosing a profession. This also involved a few years at the appropriate institute of higher education. All things considered, teaching, engineering and social work were out of the picture for being too low-paid, tough to do for a woman or simply unfitting my background. I’m too squeamish to go into medicine or dental work, or so I thought at the time. Law was just the first portion in the expression a law-ong way to go (in the wrong direction too). My choice of profession was the most obvious for an intellectual with health issues. An accountant I reckoned has a comfortable chair in a clean, warm office, works 8 to 5 and just like good wine her expiry date is past retirement age. There is a big economics university in town, so there you go!
All good but an accountant should know how to take all things into account and I certainly didn’t. Keeping books all day long, all life long is simply not for me. Why? Because even the most comfortable chair in a clean, warm office can give you a pain and even shy people like me may be more comfortable communicating with humans, rather than numbers. There is a personal parameter in the “what’s the best job for me” equation and I had done the wrong math. I was at the end of my third year of studying when it finally occurred to me a fundamental mistake had been made. Too late! You can’t void three years with a click of fingers; even the best accountant in the world can’t. This is how I graduated with the gloomy anticipation that I’m stuck in life with the wrong profession.
It’s true that people would choose a job that either fits their type, or balances them out. For example, let’s take a girl, call her Violet. Violet is pretty but shy and she is definitely the intellectual type. If she goes out with friends on a regular basis and has children and/or a boyfriend as well, she may happily and successfully work as a bookkeeper. However, if this is not the case, she may go for a more communication-involved job such as a travel agent. In this case it would balance her need of interaction. Another example, Danielle. She’s charming and very social, working for the PR department of a big company. Her interpersonal skills make her very good at her job but at the end of the day she’s sick of meeting people and wants to go home and chill. Even going to a busy nightclub with her friend doesn’t sound that exciting to her any more.
Of course while still in University I was totally unaware of this scheme. I was a miserable little snowflake – I knew the general direction I was going and I had to obey, like it or not. It is exactly that inevitable natural force that took me to that big sex store on Commercial street in Ptown. The best, just like the worst things in life begin by accident, or in other words, in a folly. When I stepped through the door and looked around, I had vacation, not vocation in mind. Had I had more money to spend, I would have invested it in a bonework corset but what could a geek do with only $25 in her pocket? Buy a book of course. That’s how I ended up with an illustrated guide to full body massage.
I had never been aware before of this enchanting, secret world, the entrance fee to which was only $25. With growing fascination I observed how friends reacted when I told them about my new toy. Yes, people have their own personal space and most of us are very keen on warding its preservation. This rule, however, is immediately abolished when bodywork becomes involved. That’s the first step, and then the second step is when the person is on the table. Tension, sadness, even hostility are gone within half an hour. I often think of it as being the captain of a ship who goes out sailing only when the sea is rough and returns when tranquility sets in.
There’s power in it, and there’s magic.
Even if they don’t realize it, people shy away from physical contact because they associate it with negative experience. Strangers do no touch us in a good way. It usually takes place in the public transport or in crowded malls or while standing in line. Nurturing, soothing touch is something quite extraordinary, exceptional and this is exactly the fashion in which the body responds to it too. In textbooks we read that relaxation and the general feeling of well-being in Swedish massage come from the successful application of 5 fundamental techniques: effleurage, petrissage, friction, tapotement, vibration. What the textbooks don’t say but I firmly believe in, is that the attention and gentle care contribute much more to these benefits. It is more than an hour of rubbing and rocking that people come for. It is a little dose of love.
And how else? In the very least a full body massage is that – a full body massage. Therapists get to touch places off-limits to other mortals, except for lovers. The nature of contact is not sexual, but intimate all the same. This often brings up memories of past experiences, some vivid, some buried deep inside the mind of the receiver and while a few surface up, others only channel a feeling. It is so very Freudian of me to say but I do believe that subconsciously we go back to the time of our very first massages in life – when as babies our mothers lovingly rubbed us with baby oil after bath. As we grow up the exclusive right of access to our thighs, tummies and buttocks is passed to the intimate partner and no one else but the health care providers and therapists. It always takes a very special form of trust to literally place yourself in the hands of a stranger. It may be very hard to let go on the table and ignore the instinct of self-preservation. It may be equally hard to accept caring touch when offered, regardless of how badly it’s craved.
A crucial part of mastering professional massage is learning and understanding anatomy. For me it was a slow and enlightening process and since then I see human bodies as a work of art. I’m amazed how every little detail is integrated in a living, working mechanism to a level bordering perfection. There is a reason and a meaning in everything that exists in the body. And every time I lay my hands on one, I know I am holding the most precious thing in the world.
It is a very demanding kind of business and quite draining too. In the long run I’m happy I don’t have to be so giving for a living, but that I have found the right point to bounce back when the madness of numbers catch up with me and I need to get a hold of myself.
After all, to have a profession and a craft and be happy with both, isn't that the most delicate balance of all?

Here's a poem I made in "advanced" English (advanced as in extra, not better than anyone else). The "main character's" name, Bob Core, comes from "Bob Kåre" which is a Norwegian lolname. Not every sentence rhymes completely, and some sentences are longer than they should be, though with a little imagination it goes fine.
Here it goes:
Bob Core was a boy from the slum.
He had no toys, he could only hum.
For his ciondition to heal
He had to steal,
So he stole from a toyshop a drum.
Bob Core now had a toy,
And he wanted to make some joy.
So he walked down the street
While he hit a funky beat,
Though he really did nothing, but annoy.
Down the street came this rich, old madame.
When she saw him she had to say: "D@mn!
Who is this young fellow
With his drum in yellow,
I'm really impressed, yes I am!"
Bob Core then started to say:
"Dear lady, I do sleep in hay!
You can't improove your beat
When you live in the street,
My condition is pretty grey."
The old lady then answered: "Oh dear,
We've got to get you out of here!
Why don't you stay
In my home in LA
Your life is so sad, I do hear."
Bob Core then lived with the old lady.
Though he realised she was a bit shady.
She looked like a crocodile
And she was pedofile,
So he had to get out of there badly.
Bob packed his all stuff and then fled
But soon the lady got dead.
So the lady's attorney
Sent Bob all her money.
Then Bob really got glad.
But his pride was still a little sore.
So he went to the shop where he'd stole before.
He gave them his money,
'Cause then he was sin-free
He was a good lad, he Bob Core.
Please don't laugh at it (it's supposed to be funny, so just go ahead).
EDIT: No replays? I didn't know it was that bad

When I saw this thread I just had to share and old song I wrote about lost love. Almost everyone knows how it feels to be left by someone we love, and this is a reflection of what went on in my head at the time for some years ago...
Whispering voices in my head
Sounds like they calling my name
My body falls too the floor
I try to crawl towards the door
How can you just leave me on my own?
Solitude is a painful friend
You turn the lights off – Your not home
Can’t you see I need your help?
I try to close my eyes, I try to break the spell
I reach out for the door, I want out from this hell
Every window that I look into, I see the same face appear
And everybody on the street is wearing the same face to
They are all staring at me
There’s nothing I can do
This is your face speaking
What should I do?
I’m sick of this pain in my head
I’m scared I’m being left for dead
How can you just leave me on my own
You’re dragging me right to the edge
I’ve got to go when you jerk my rope
I don’t know when the good turned bad
I’m sick of this pain in my head
I’m scared I’m being left for dead
I’m sick of this pain in my head
I’m scared I’m being left for dead
It’s getting more than I can take
It’s like a band tightening around my head
If you keep pushing, something’s going to break
It’s making me think I’d be better of dead
How can you just leave me on my own?
Solitude is a painful friend
To live my life is like falling down
I just want this nightmare to end
