Poll Question:
Magic system

Which systems do you you want to see in Heroes 6?

I must confess although i want to see Chinese systems (5 elements instead of 4), i also think using Might and Magic 6-8 one is also cool (although it might require Mage Guild makeover )... However. one thing for certain....

Heroes 5 systems are rather confusing!

Responses:
Indian Elemental System (as in Heroes3)
Chinese Elemental System (Earth, Water, Wood, Fire, Metal)
Purposive systems (As in Heroes 5)
Might and Magic 6-8 system (Indian Elemental Systems + Clerical system + D&L
Chinese Elemental System + Yin and Yang
Racial systems (as in Heroes4)

Should people be given rights because of their sex, race or beliefs? There were hundreds of systems to hadle this question, but none of them turned out to be right at the end. You should start from creation, not separation.

Don't care how you name it, it has to be playable and consistent. The perfect example is sphere designed by Alcibiades some months ago. He aimed at balanced and flexible system and he got it, there is no single flaw in his creation.

First choice should be Indian/Greek/Buddist/Japanese, although those ones are also technically 5 element systems (they all have aether or some equivalent, but this is often ignored). Choice 5 should also not be in, Yin/Yang is a concept of duality, and so does not technically belong here.

Indian Elemental System sounds most enjoyable for me. H5 magic schools are alright but i prefered Heroes 3; Water, Air, Earth and Fire as the simple elements.

Other. I'd like a mix of H4 and H5, Purposive schools, but with a number of Racial spells (Fireball is fairly universal but Death Cloud would be Necro only, for example)

And Raise Dead as well... I always thought that spell should be available only to Necros.

Agreed, although I also think that you should be able to raise higher level creatures with increased mastery (eg, only Skeletons for no mastery, but right up to Vampires at Expert).

Other Racial Spellers would be things like Holy Strike (Haven specific, weak but does double damage to Elemental, Mechanical, Undead  and Demonic Creatures) And Inferno (Inferno specific, does massive fire damage to all squares in a x*x area, where x is 4-7 depending on mastery)

Nor would racial spells be limited to destruction (Fire Shield for example would be an Inferno only spell, whereas Haven would get Counterstrike, and Academy would get Arcane Armour).

Purposive system of magic is great. The only I would suggest is the addition of few exclusive racial spells for each school.

For example Death Ripple and mentioned Raise Dead should be available to Dark energy wielders. And so on.

The H3 system was a good one,but I didn't find anything "Indian" in it  The Ying-Yang one can be intresting to see it,but only if in H6 will be an Asian faction

But I go for the H5 one

I agree with asheera!

i think that each faction have to have 2 or 3 favoured schools, and 1 forbbiden
Heaven is focused on light *blesses and protection* and water* blesses, mind spells and ice demage* and not use darkness *rise dead and dark spells like weakness and decay*
Sylvan is facused on Earth *a bless - stone skin - some curses - slow and entagling roots - and summoning lots of creatures - treants, pixies, eath elementals...* and air, and dont use fire *destruction!!!*

Well if you think from the usual "Earth + Fire + Air + Water" system, of course Light and Dark wouldn't be elements.

However, there are a lot of games which have all six of those 'elements', or something similar. For example, in Spellforce we have the following resistances: Fire, Air, Water and Dark. Light is not there as a resistance because it has only buff spells which can't be resisted (obviously), and Earth is a special magic school that can't be resisted, so that's why it isn't there.
