Overhearing the exchange between the Captain and newly arrived Chief Engineer, the good doctor pipes up quickly...

"Yes Commander, thank you so much for coming so quickly. If you would just take a seat over there I'll have you out of here in no time at all".

Makes gesture towards the same bed that the Captain had just been sitting. While waiting in that brief moment for the Commander to respond, the doctor couldn't help but glance at Idon's left arm. With a short nervous smile he continued in a lower voice so that Ensign York wouldn't overhear...

"Commander, I'm very curious about the positronic workings of your prosthetic arm. If you have the time I..."

The doctor cut his query short as Ensign York came near to him holding a white box with clear glass lid.

"Dr. Grey, would you like me to run initial tests on the cortical stimulators? Everything on this ship is new and I would hate to need them and..."

Holding up his hand gently towards the Ensign and glancing her way

"It's ok nurse, and yes that would be great. Thank you for your thoroughness. Oh and while your here, Ensign..this is Lieutenant Commander Brikando, the ships Chief Engineer. The doctor stated with a large smile

"It's good to meet you Sir" Ensign York said with a beautiful smile, and serious face...

"Likewise." Feigning politeness is a skill Idon developed over the years.

"If you don't mind my curtness, that arm was a token of what happens with hyperaccelerated plasma comes in contact with biological flesh. It does have its advantages though. I never quiver and I can touch a live wire without any damage."

Brikando patiently waited for the naive doctor to respond.

Uncomfortable pause prevails as the doctor recomposes himself.

"Ah, yes. Well I could see where that would certainly have its advantages"

continues scanning with tricorder

"Well your scans seem to agree with your medical files from Star Fleet. Please don't hesitate to call on me for your health needs. Also, if you would please send up your jr. officers from Engineering that would help Commander."

turns around after a quick smile to the Commander

"Nurse, can you please log these first scans into the computer and hand me that tray there? hands nurse tricorder I want to make sure that everything is uploading correctly."

"Very well Doctor." Tapping his combadge, he orders "Lieutenant Brikando to Engineering. All Junior officers are to report at the earliest opportunity to Sickbay for routine examinations. Brikanod out." He concludes with a curt nod to the Doctor signaling he expects nothing short of complete workups on his crew.

The captain had made his way to the turbo lift past all the hallways and the crew.

"To the command center please," Captain Reeds bellowed in the turbo lift and was responded with the mechanisms running the turbo lift activating and starting to lift it to the saucer section and the command center at the top of it.

The captain didn't have to resort to any elevator music when he already had arrived at his destination and the doors opened.

A view of a round room filled with computers opened before the captain's eyes. There was the grand main screen of the ship, the tactical panel, the frontal panels and the greatest of all: The commanding officer's chair.

Tingling with excitement like a little child; captain Reeds merrily started skipping towards his nice and comfy looking chair when he suddenly heard a familiar voice coming from the floor: "Good afternoon sir!" The captain was startled and looked around the floor for the source of the voice.

The captain's eyes widened as he saw Commander Lucas King laying on his side on the full floor carpet. "Number one! What on earth are you doing on the floor!" "I was starting to feel like having a little nap so I decided to take the chance to test if the new carpets are nice and comfy. They passed the test. I hope that the starfleet keeps up their efforts to make the starships more comfortable places to live in."

"Would you please get up! You are making a fool out of yourself!" The captain shouted to mr. King who answered: "No one is watching, don't worry." After letting out a long and drawn out sigh the captain said: "I guess you are right number one."

Finally getting to sit down on his chair, the captain revelled in its nice soft comfortness for a while and then asked Lucas: "Would you like a drink while waiting for the permission to take off?"

--The good doctor sits at his desk in his office located in sick bay--

A small office, but well appointed and situated off to the side. Well out of the way of the two rows of beds forming a half circle around the room. His office is made up with the back wall being the bulkhead of the ship. The front wall and portions of each side make a semi circle to match the room. A wall at waist level with glass partitions rising the rest of the way to the ceiling of the Duchess. There are openings at each end.

"It is important for there to be maneuverability and a clear view within sick bay." he nods in satisfaction and says quietly to himself

The doctor glances up to see Ensign York sending a curious look his way. He sends a quick quirky smile her way and makes himself busy with a comp pad.

"I guess she'll just have to get used to me talking to myself"

he pipes up a little bit  "Nurse, please continue the health exams for the crew as they filter in." makes another quick look at the pad he is holding "Ensign Kargan should be reporting for duty soon. Please have him assist you with the checks. I want to be notified immediately if there are any complications with any members of the crew."

Ensign York sounds a quick affirmative "Sir" and dutifully returns to the task at hand.

--The doctor places his head in his hands and leans over his desk-- "You can do this Eliot" he mumbles to himself "They will like you well enough. Just do what you know you have to do. Your the best and you know it. You have a beautiful sick bay and the chance of your life. Now don't **** it up! This crew will need you. Now get up and get to work. Besides, a Klingon Nurse in Star Fleet has already caused enough chaos. You need to be there to introduce York to him. Hmm, maybe I should just..."

--The doctor's thoughts trail off into action as he rises from his desk and towards Ensign York--

"Nurse, before Ensign Kargan arrives I wanted to first let you know...

The doctor put on the professional friendly smile he had practiced in his quarters at SFMA (Star Fleet Medical Academy) for hours and continued to inform the young and beautiful Ensign

--The Dr. had personally signed off for Ensign Kargan and accepted him on staff. There had been plenty of reason not to, but to the Dr. that was all the more reason to allow him on board. Star Fleet was all about chances, and the young troubled Klingon was getting his--

Finally... Brakindo walks back into Engineering to the sound of the warp core slowly thrumming with the dilithium matrix. He walks to a workstation and continues his diagonostics. He checks every system and subsystem before finally calling it ready and good.

He walks up to the warp core to do some visual diagnostics. When he notices something odd. Hmph, so they don't trust me here. He walks to the node and rips it off the underside of the banister. And Obsidian Order sensor probe. Lets not let this get out of hand. He stows the nodule in his utility pocket of his uniform. He then walks back to the diagnostics panel. Dutifully double-checking the power flows, his combadge chirps.
