A full minute had passed since the rogue node/worm Avatar fell dead to the sand, but Dr. Crates had not yet noticed. The beast of blades had joined Mephisto and made a few experimental slashes on the fallen worm creature to be sure of it before trotting over to Crates; when the medic ran out of damaged tissue to treat, and was looking bewildered by this sudden lack, it nudged him in the elbow.
“Oh!” Crates nearly jumped, and turned to his Avatar. Then he seemed to get a better grip on himself and looked around, spotting the downed node in the process. “Ah! I—I see…” he trailed off uncertainly, “What do we do now?”

By this time the 'old man' and his BA have found you. They seemed relieved. "Good, it is done. We can start to set things right. But outsiders are here. They are in danger, this .. thing has upset the Nexus. They must be warned." he seems fatigued. "It is time old friend. Time to rest." he pats his Battle Avatar on the shoulder.
"Yes, we should rest." Came the avatars reply. He helped his 'master' to where the worm is. Both start melting, forming yet another crystal.

Team Overlord - Outside it becomes obvious that things are not right. Curfew posters are everywhere, and signs proclaiming "Gemini knows what is best for you, obey or be eliminated." are everywhere. MEGA troops are out in full force, and armored and there are way too many of them. MEGA was near destroyed not a week ago.
Also, the city itself has changed. Every building is exactly like the other. Same size, shape, everything. Banners hang from every corner. They are white with a black starburst in the middle.

Dr. Crates felt his stomach twist as the eccentric Don Vergard melted into crystal. The process seemed no less horrifying to him now than it had the first time, but at least it was over now. He hoped.
“Shall we go greet our new guests, then?” he asked aloud.
Rather than simply nod, the beast of blades began pushing him towards an exit.

The team stopped as soon as they exited the base. Even Overlord who was a newcomer in this world knew that what they saw is not how it's supposed to be. Strangely enough, NX was the first to speak:
"Toto, I don't think we're in Kansas anymore..." 7 pairs of eyes looked at him in confusion as he tried to explain himself, "That's a quote... I've read it once... in an old book... really..."
"JUST SHUT IT, BLOB BOY!" roared the Overlord, "IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT HAPPENED RIGHT NOW. WE HAVE A MISSION - TO FIND THE TRAITOROUS PALADIN. LET'S MOVE!!"
Overlord's anger was so apparent that no one had the courage to argue and they all just walked behind the black knight as he walked down the street. The little girl grasped his armor clad arm in fear as a squad of MEGA troops passed right by them. The buildings, the streets, the huge amount of troops and the shocking lack of civilians outside, it was all so wrong and even though most of the team's members had lived on for hundreds of years and one of them was a floating data bank, no one had the slightest idea of what happened here. After about an hour of pointless wandering around the city Overlord stopped at a crossroad and looked around trying to decide yet again which way to go. Malice approached him and said with all the bitterness she could harness:
"What's the matter? Don't know where to go? Maybe you should have waited for Wylde to get us some intel so we know which way to go."
"MAYBE YOU SHOULD STOP TALKING SO YOU STILL HAVE YOUR HEAD ATTACHED TO YOUR NECK."
At this time NX approached the officers and spoke to them:
"Sir, I'm sorry, but could I suggest something? Knowledge is the key to everything, so maybe if we could find out what happened to this place we could understand where to find Jorn and what our next move should be. So I suggest we find the local archives... or a city hall... they usually are at the same place anyway... and then do some research."
"RESEARCH?!?! WARRIORS DON'T DO RESEARCH, THEY FIGHT! I AM NOT ABOUT TO DO RESEARCH!!!"
A sarcastic smile formed on Malice's face as she commented:
"Does that mean you have a better idea?"
"... FINE. WE'LL TRY IT YOUR WAY, BLOB BOY. BUT IT BETTER NOT END UP BEING A WASTE OF MY TIME, OR I'LL CUT OFF YOUR... WHATEVER IT IS YOU CALL A HEAD!".
And so, after asking directions from the nearest MEGA troops, Overlord and his team headed out to the city hall.

Dr. Crates does not take long to find something out of the ordinary. A gateway that leads to what looks like a world of all metal. What Dr. Crates sees inside does not look to inviting however. Armed people in the streets, a group of people standing looking around as if lost, and the banners ((as MEGA city was described earlier..not a friendly looking place)).

Team Overlord - Here is what your research turns up. This can not be your world. No Ironclad (ever), no meteor strike, no alien invasion, and Gemini has been controlling this world with Iron fists for over 2000 years. You also find video proof that a Jorn Saber paid a bunch of people to attack the various towers...but find records that Jorn Saber died less then 2 hrs ago..before you went to look for him. That and Wylde was always saying "like" and speaking like a surfer, and this Wylde is all business. A little unbalanced to. Not to mention here it is not WyldeChild, but WyldeCarnage. You deffinately are not in Kansas any more.

Team Jornsaber - pretty much Ghost reports all that to you. Appears the other 'you' was just trying to end Gemini's oppressive regime. Had little chance against Gemini and all of MEGA however. She informs you the you from this dimension is dead (and in the final sleep dead).

All - There is a humming sound loud enough to carry in the streets. Electricity sparks everywhere, and glass shatters and steel buckles. The ground in the street starts spiderwebbing (being torn up) and then the air gets sort of bright.
Once you can see again, a man is standing there. He is wearing a long black trench coat and shades. He is dressed all in black, except a white skull face mask. Mega opens fire on him, but the bullets and lasers seem to bounce off him harmlessly. They bring out the 'neutralizers' and have about as much luck. He just starts walking down the road, headed straight for Overlords team. Explosions and such go off all the way around him, but he seems not to even notice.
He comes straight up to Overlord..you notice that a forceshield comes up protecting the group. "Come with me if you want to live, or come with me if you want to bust some heads. Whatever works for you."
((Jorn you don't 'see' this, but ghost tells you what is going on))

Overlord looks at him and says:
"COME WITH YOU IF I WANT TO LIVE OR BUST SOME HEADS? HOW ABOUT A THIRD OPTION - I BUST YOUR HEAD HERE AND NOW!"
Overlord raises his sword and points it at the man. The latter doesn't even move a muscle, he just answers calmly:
"You can try if you wish, but nothing will come of it except an enormous waste of time..." he pauses as if considering something before continuing, "Besides, there will be much more fighting where I'm taking you."
After a minute of hesitation Overlord finally lowers his sword.
"FINE. I'LL GO WITH YOU FOR NOW. I CAN ALWAYS KILL YOU LATER ANYWAY."

Passing through the gate was a unique experience.
Even dazed as he was, he couldn’t miss the change. Crates stumbled as the reassuring pressure of his Avatar—the one constant since his arrival in the Nexus—suddenly vanished. He reached out to catch himself on a smooth metal wall and discovered to his further disconcertment that he was armored.
From head to foot he was covered in armor like stylized bone. His glasses had disappeared along with his Avatar, a fact that bothered him more than it should have. They had been replaced by a visor that ran across his eyes (though, after a moment of experimentation he discovered it was not affecting his vision—and yet somehow he could still see. Were his implants working again or was this yet another effect of the Nexus?).
A tiny corner of his mind had just decided that this must be where the beast of blades had gone when he heard the pound of marching feet approaching. His combat reflexes took over in place of his rather battered consciousness, a reaction reinforced by the presence of his new ‘armor’ and he ducked out of sight in time to see a virtual parade of soldiers pass him by.
He was wary enough not to call out when the column of soldiers passed—that way lead to fatal gunshot wounds. Once they had passed he moved on through the corridors of metal, dimly noting the black-starburst banners and posters on the walls—taking cover whenever more soldiers approached. A curfew boded ill for his presence on the streets, whatever the reason. He was too out-of-sorts to notice if anyone from the arena had followed him, if indeed any had.

Who is ‘Gemini’???
The thought was so detached that at first he didn’t recognize it as his own. He had located Vergard’s ‘outsiders’—or at least, he thought he had, as it was the only group so far that looked like it felt like it didn’t belong. Thus, Dr. Crates was currently taking cover in a plain metal alley exactly like every other plain metal alley in this place while he pondered what to do next.
He had not yet finished pondering when his armor started to hum.
No, he realized after listening more closely, it wasn’t coming from his armor. It was—
Lightning popped between the walls of his chosen corridor, leaped from ground to building, scorched the fringes of a nearby banner. Cracks appeared under his feet, radiating out from some unknown source, and he had to shield his eyes for a moment.
When it ended, a man in black appeared and gunfire quickly erupted. The man made a sniper-line for Dr. Crate’s group of lost strangers and brought up a shield.
Not trusting his new armor to take a hit from those weapons, Crates started to look for a way around the line of fire, though he wasn’t yet sure if he should join the targets. If he couldn’t find a safe route, he reasoned, at the very least he could watch and get a better idea of what was going on.

The mega troops started closing in, which means the gun fire stopped. As Ghost and Jorn start materializing the mystery man eyes seem to turn to flame and in a voice much like Overlords. "ABOUT TIME YOU SHOWED UP! WE ARE IN THE MIDDLE OF A .." he stops as if he just noticed something. "You are not him. Close, but not quite."
He looks at Overlord. "My shield won't hold long. Not that these insects are much of a threat. No we have bigger worries. They are coming. We can't fight them both together. But we can bust up some of their toys on the way out. Once they figure out you are not the Overlord they know, they will try to destroy you also."
Without looking at the newcomer. "They will not care you are just a visitor, or believe you innocent even if you are. I advise you to get close, we are about to go away.

Though the man in the skull mask hadn’t looked at him, Dr. Crates had the feeling that last comment had been directed his way. The gunfire had stopped, so he drifted out of the maze of identical side streets over to the group and tapped lightly on the shield.
“I have come to warn you about the Nexus.” Crates glanced sideways at the group of soldiers closing in. “Maybe now isn’t a good time.”

In a voice hauntingly identical to Jorn's the mysterious figure raises his hands to the sky and says.
Light come to part the night, show me the way illuminate my sight.
Shear the cold with heat and flame, as I announce to the heavens my new name. Let passion rise and waves of flame roll, for I am PYRE SOUL!
As the shield expands to fit all of the people around inside of it, the man is lifted slightly off the ground by an unseen force. Flames envelop him making him but a pillar of fire for a small time, and when they clear his mask has been burned off, but no face can be seen in the blue flames that now cover him. The flames envelop the group, but are painless..and when they clear the group is .. somewhere else.
Looks like a sewer hub, made into a sort of headquarters. The mystery man sort of collapses as the flames die, but several people are waiting to catch him. "Take it easy..you have expended a lot of energy." comes the soothing voice of a woman with blue/green hair.
As you get a chance to look around you see a lot of glass chambers with very familiar looking people inside them. In fact the whole group is there..except Overlord and Jorn. They look lifeless however. Or at the very least in some sort of suspended animation.
Six individuals are looking at the group after making the mystery man comfortable. Besides the blue/green haired woman they all look..familiar somehow. Almost like the mystery man (who can now be seen because of no mask). Though the six look more..normal then him.
That is when it hits everybody. The reason he looks familiar is .. if you took the best features off of everybody in your group and combined them..you would look exactly like him.
The odd woman looks at your group. "Welcome. Though you don't know it yet..this is your home. So welcome home."

Instead of answering Overlord pushes the woman aside and thrusts his sword forward, stopping it mere inches before the mystery man's face.
"WHAT MANNER OF TRICKERY IS THIS? YOU HAVE PROMISED ME A GLORIOUS COMBAT, BUT INSTEAD OF A BATTLEFIELD I FIND MYSELF IN A SMELLY SEWER. RIGHT NOW, YOU ONLY HAVE A FEW SECONDS LEFT TO LIVE, YOU'D BETTER USE THEM TO CHANGE MY MIND!"

He looks up and slowly grins. "Your combat is not far. In fact..it is right above us. Lots of toys for you to break. I brought you to the best place for you to fight. I did not lie. Mistea will show you the way.."
The woman seems to have had enough. As she prepairs to do .. whatever a small child comes forth. Looking as if she is part animal, she leaps onto Overlords back. She starts biting at his armor, but can not peirce it. Suprisingly it doesn't seem to hurt her teeth either. The woman shouts "Feral! Get off him!" but the girl is already peacefully asleep, though she continues to 'chew' on Overlords armor.
The woman laughs. "Guess I have to just show you the way up. Threaten my family again, and we will settle this, however. The hard way." she points to a latch with a ladder leading to it. "Give me Feral and you can do whatever you wish. Up two flights you will find a MEGA headquarters..fight to your hearts content."

"They killed everybody. Anybody who stood up to them. The other Jorn was undercover with them awhile, but they caught on. The other Overlord just vanished. Think because there was nobody else left to kill." he still seems to be having trouble even talking.
"Then..they got their DNA...and created me. Their biggest mistake. Though..thanks to Jorn's blood...I am dying..so they don't have to worry about me for too long. Mixing dead DNA with live has some..odd side effects it seems."
The woman goes over and puts her hand on his shoulder. "Gemini has been getting worse and worse over the years. I know it is hard to imagine, but this world used to be like a paradise. Over the years they have taken more and more freedoms away. Now they are just purely viscious. They won't risk attacking here yet..not where he is strongest. Unfortunately they know he is weakening, it is only a matter of time before he won't be strong enough to fight them. So we will move soon, to somewhere they can not find us. We must go out..to the Nexus..."
"NO! Not before either Gemini comes to their senses, or until they fall. I don't care if it kills me."

Dr. Crates, who had been gazing as though entranced at an otherwise unremarkable patch of wall, animated at this.
“Lady, I must warn you—the Nexus is not safe. Or rather, it is less safe than it was. A madman meddled where he should not have meddled, and now it is very…” Crates trailed off momentarily. “‘Upset’ I believe was the word he used.”

Overlord was trying to decide in what manner he wants to hurt the little beast who was napping on his back when theirs hosts explained the situatio. He was just about to come to an agreement with himself when the woman finished to talk, but suddenly he stopped. The little nameless girl looked at the black knight in surprise. She was at his side from the moment they brought to this world (or rather the previous world they've been in), but she never saw him like this.He did not look angry or bloodthirsty anymore (at leas not as much as usually), and still the girl never seen him so excited. Instead of slamming the feral kid face first into the floor, Overlord just shrug her off and the kid ran away to continue its nap elsewhere. As the stranger in the bone armor finished his warning, Overlord spoke. His was a weird cocombination of his regular thunder-like volume with the tone of an excited 10 year-old boy.
"THIS IS THE SECOND TIME YOU MENTION A PLACE CALLED 'NEXUS'. IS THIS THE PLACE I HEARD OF BEFORE MY DEATH? IS THIS THE PLACE WHERE ALL WORLDS CONNECT? WHERE THE GREATEST OF WARRIORS FROM ALL THE POSSIBLE AND IMPOSSIBLE WORLDS COME TO SEEK POWER AND TEST THEIR STRENGTH? IS THIS THE DREAM OF ANY WARRIOR - THE LEGENDARY NEXUS?!"

Dr. Crates was a little taken aback by the black-armored being’s eagerness, and had he been in a healthier state of mind he might have reiterated his warning rather than answer directly. He wasn’t, however.
“That sounds like an accurate description, although it’s not legendary where I come from.”
