Question to Corribus:
How do you behave/What do you do when someone goes ballistic on you? (either you deserved it or not)

Interesting question.

My usual response is to plunge my fist into their abdomen and rip out their spine.

Failing that, however...

Hmm, actually I don't think I've ever had an occasion where someone went ballistic on me.  I'm usually fairly good at diffusing hostile situations with my charismatic charm.  On an occasion where civilized conversation is impossible, such as, perhaps, with an extraterrestrial cyborg, my inclination would be to just walk (or run, in the cyborg case) away.  Fighting with a rabid idiot or intergalactic flesh-covered robot is beneath my dignity. Perhaps more to the point, I'm 5-10 weighing in at a svelt 145 lbs.  So, barring superior firepower and high elevation, I'm not going to be eager to start sparring with most people over what is most likely something not worth sparring over.

Unless, of course, it's a ten year old kid.  I'd kick his ass in 5 seconds flat.

Next question:

Azagal: So you're out on a date with some girl you really like (but have only dated once or twice) at a really nice restaurant.  You're about to order some appetizers when another guy comes over.  It's someone your date knew in high school.  He completely ignores you and starts hitting on your date.  What do you do?

Well I'd wait for a moment to check out the reaction of my date. I wouldn't exspect her to engage in any flirting since I'm so captivating and my charm so irresistable that I should be surprised if she even noticed him standing there. Should she look surprised and genuinely happy to see him I'd let them small talk for a little and shrug his flirting off considering that they're friends (I wouldn't blame "outsiders" for mistaking my behaviour as flirting when I'm with certain female friends of mine), should he really hit on her I'd get up introduce myself and tell him that it was nice meeting him no matter how nice pals they are. If he doesn't leave when asked I'm certainly not going to cause a scene at a restaurant so I'd ask the waiter to remove him and that should probably do the trick. I certainly wouldn't play any games with him or be goated by any behaviours of his, he has no manners - I have. I'd let him feel that.
I'm pretty sure that my date would have asked him to leave sooner rather than later though since I'm charme incarnate... and I doubt I'd date the kind of girl that would leave me hanging while on a date with me.

So Vokial: Is there something you truely envy others for? And what would it be?

A really hard question.

I desided against naming a series as my favourite. If I had done that it would have been Morgan Kane. I've read all of the 82 books at least thrice and some closer to twenty-thirty times. It's a series about the life(more often near death) or a certain man named Morgan Kane, a gunman, a Federal Sheriff, a Texas Ranger, a murderer, a legend, an alcoholic, a woman's man, a card player, a man with past but no future in the last times of wild west.
The kinda man who everyone wants to be but no one has the guts.

I have some favourites but naming one isn't easy. Not to mention I haven't been reading much in the past three years, maybe five new books per year or so.

The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint Exupéry, what I'd call perfection. It is excellent in every aspect. Philosophy in a fairytale.

The Surgeon by Tess Gerritsen, a thriller. An excellent thriller. Her other works are rather mediocre but this got me good. There's just something about it that makes you shiver.

Cats' Paws and Catapults: Mechanical Worlds of Nature and People by Steven Vogel, one of the many "heavy" books I have. Basically it's a mechanism book explaining how things work. Just that this explains things rather deeply and it compares the natures way to do things to those of ours. Quite entertaining.

Gate of Ivory, Gate of Horn by Robert Holdstock, it has been a long time since I read this book. Twelve years I believe. That it's still lingering in my mind should prove how good it is. It revolves around a mystical forest, a forest where impossible things happen, and a boy, who lives next to the forest, whose mother hang herself on a tree. The book is brilliant. Compared to your usual fantasy novels that are written by people whose literary gifts are on the same level with high school kids Holdstocks writing shines. He doesn't tell, he doesn't show, he let's you see.

Jonathan Livingston Seagull by Richard Bach, This is the book I've probably read the most times in my life, I think that makes it my favourite. A short book about a seagull who wants to learn to fly like a hawk. A story about breaking the limits of society and conquering your own shortcomings.

There are five of my favourites. I've always had a rather adult taste in reading so while things like Harry Potter are entertaining and good they have never struck me that well. I quess that's thanks to reading what my parents read. Finished Tarzans and Barsoom series by the age of nine, things like Timeline by Michael Crichton(quite good) as a 11-year-old, Platon and Dostojevski were regular readings around 13, science and philosphy in particular a lot around 15 and so on.
As is my way I probably forgot some crucial book or I would otherwise be of a completely different opinion in a few months time.

As by the rules is necessary I'll bombard DG. How's your love life? Anyone in the crosshair? Please tell us about her if you do have one.

Well, I don't have anyone, but I assume you're also curious about the person I set my sights on.

She's a friend I met a few years ago. She studied latin - maths in the same class about four years ago. I went on to do latin - languages two years ago, due to lack of interest, but we still kept conversing. We used to go on the bus back home together, back before she left the city I lived in. She came to Belgium when she was 10. Her dutch is excellent though. She is good at drawing and playing the piano. She was also a top student (well, you kind of have to be when you're a latin - maths student). She had to move because her mother's medicine degree proved to be worthless in this country and she had to go to university again. So, they went to Leuven (a university town about a hundred or so miles removed from Antwerp), because it's a higher quality education than Antwerp. She'll study medicine this year, because she was rejected at the conservatory (well... it's complicated...) and she really likes scientific studies. She hates it when people express pity and sometimes likes to portray herself as arrogant, but really isn't.

She is also of the opinion that genius should never compromise, lest they stop being genius. *hearty laugh*

Oh, and she also gives me the feeling that I don't need to prove myself around her. When she's not angry or stressed, I can always make her laugh. From the previous line you can deduce we became a bit estranged over the year that she lived in another city. Oh, yeah, and I occasionally miss her, but it's not like that matters.

Well, that's as much as I'l share and it's actually quite a lot.

Boring question aimed at Baklava: Have you ever played DnD? could you tell us about your first session? If you did not, could you tell us about your first roleplay session, because I'm pretty sure you've had those (call it a man-hunch).
