An idea to add something to the yellow stars

I don't know whether it's technically possible, but the yellow stars don't really say anything.
A first and quite simple idea would be to color-code the number of postings, either for each forum or at least subforrum differently, so that they wouldn't just show how much someone posted, but also in which (sub)-forum mostly.
The trouble here is, that it will probably not be possible to change things for the already existing stars.

What I would really like, though, is something like the Hero classes in HoMM 4: just switch skills for (sub)-forums and you get what I mean. You'd simply take the 2 forums most frequented with posts for each user and award them a "class" accordingly.

The downside here is, that there are too many forums for that, while the sub-forums are probably one short and too different in size.

However, if people like the idea, I'm sure a solution would be possible.

In any case I'd like the idea that people posting mostly in the VW and the Tavern (or even the OSM) might have the class "Blabbermouth", while someone frequenting WoG/H4/Mod sections most could be a "tinkerer", just as an example.

I'm sure most will agree that would be somewhat charming, the question is, can it be done technically?

Cool idea, I like it. And it also will give other members possibility to see where does this member appear mostly.

I see that the mods are a lot more enthusiastic about staging an April fool than giving simple technical information about whether it's possible to count posts separately for forums or forum groups or not; also it looks like regulars' opinions on things have exhausted themselves over April 1st for whatever the reason. Probably still shocked dumb from the massive stress that came with it.

There are 17 active forums on Heroes Community.
Good luck making 272 titles, dude.

136 are enough, actually.

Still, that's a lot, that's why I askad about forum GROUPS.You could group a couple and bring it down to, say, 8, and then only 28 titles would be necessary.

Yes it is cool idea and i like the sound of it. More ranks will tell more to other who we are here....

The technical issue shouldn't be a problem if the new counting system would count the NEW posts..(after this system would be turned on)

If this idea finds support maybe someone will think about Sponsoring it.

Jolly Joker seems awfully impatient in his follow-up post. What exactly do mods have to do with the technical aspect of the forum? They enforce rules.

My understanding is that Val would have to do the technical work or hire someone to do it.

I think it is a great idea.

Two years ago Gnoll_Mage set up a page and members were able to check their posting stats. Sadly, the page doesn't work anymore, but maybe Val could make something like that...? It would automatically check your posts and set a custom title. For example, William has posted mostly in The Other Games, so he would become a "Heretic". To keep it in the spirit of Heroes, the red stars could be converted into levels, so William would be a "level 9 Heretic". How does that sound? The current QP ranks make no sense anyway.

We could all post suggestions for custom titles (e.g. ToHers could be Overlords, Altar posters Alchemists, VW posters Demoniacs  etc. Some H4 and H5 classes and racials sound good too).

Needless to say, I'm not a programmer so I have no idea how much work it would be or whether it was possible at all.

I like your idea Vlaad, it's very cool. Only one thing: maybe Alchemist doesn't fit Altar very well. Maybe Philosopher or something? I think Alchemist would be more appropriate for Workshop.

Anyway, if Val would make such page, we can easily imagine the names.

I like the idea of color-coding the posts, but it might be hard to come up with enough "secondary classes".

Yup. I like both the idea of giving a name for 2 most frequently forums, as well as Vlaad's idea on levels depending on reds. There is a problem though with the level of "heroes" with only -qp's ...

Back to the characterization of 2 most frequent forums for the user I am with Baklava; we need the full amount but there can be an easy way out; e.g. Library and Tavern can be "librarian who drinks" and "drunk librarian" depending on which one of the two has more posts by the guy. Oh, and probably a name is required for all those who show up for just 1 or 2 posts on one forum and they never post again; I don't know ... "comet" ?

All in all nice idea. But I am not sure I like the "rainbow" transformation on yellow stars.
