I will request special no mentoring at all rule in my games .

Rejected !
From what i see almost all go for swifmind and most races cant get it and mentor in same time.
Only one rule: no boat stealing
We can set no DV from Seraph too. Its all no more rules.

Thanks for invitation, very good map indeed, but i hate home work , so random maps only, say no to home work !

There is no homework required, just play a game vs. Zilo on the map and you can ask him for directions and stuff . Homework is for the weak to cover their weakness, kinda like your obsessive play of RMG 2m and nothing else... just a way to hide your weakness

Hahaha ... you don't need Swift mind on the Mentoring Hero, you need it on the Apprentice, to fight final battle with him, so there is no conflict

If you don't accept my rule, I won't let you choose town

Actualy you need Swifmind on mentoring hero to can kill garisons and up enough lvls or your mentored hero will be so low lvl. I dont know 1 game for now in TW where this tactic to be used success so no point from restriction.

BTW i dont know what race to use I love academy but look like its most weak race here.

There is absolutelly no need to afraid from mentoring. HNR is not a real option here. If u skip swift mind, main garrisons are ultra risky as anyone could see in my replays.

But to offer a solution I think no mentored kamikazes is a good rule. It allows main hero to be educated, but decreases hnr to own developing heroes (1 or max 2)

I understand that mentoring a main knight with wizard seems to be an option for Elit, but in reality, thanks to the design of the map, its very difficult/almost impossible to get your mentored one to visit boosters all around.

I see totally differently HG, BZ ans TW issue. For me BZ is very similar to HG, just one size bigger. While HG is a 1.5 hero map, BZ is 2 hero map. Both HG and BZ offers more possible ways to develop. Both maps, thanks to witch huts and trees give you chance to create a superhero with full inventory of skills. Spells are not a problem there. Creeping is not that difficult as in TW.

On the other hand TW never gives you everything. Perfect skilling and spells are very rare. There are no such big variety in route of main hero as in HG or BZ.

HG and BZ is very rich map in the sense of money and artifacts availability, but TW you will be always short in money, and there are limited number of arties.

In our last game with Strider I reached lvl 30 with Lethos, but I had xp artie set, visited 5 trees, broke  two main garrisons. This is very high lvl(Average is 26-29) In hg and bz lvl 30 is normal, 30-33 is not a big surprise, but you can reach even higher.

But there are some reasons, why TW is really special: difficult player controlled garrisons, heavy creeping issues and real logistical problems of hero chaining.

I like all 3 very much.

What I can suggest to anyone who want to participate, and does not want to make so much homework, they should try in single or hot seat the first week. Taking garrison on day 4-5, lvl 6 dwelling in day 6-7, and gold mine on day 6-8. The logistical part is quite difficult, its almost impossible to make it when the game is going.

But after that first week, its getting simplier.

Completely agree here. Towerlord is the best example here - game with him was one of hardest i've had for while and he was playing on the level I would compare to Kisp's. And that was in the situation that this was in fact his first game here (even more, he hadn't play full games for eternity before that ).

As for the rules - picking town/hero will stay as our basic game-starting principle (in order to have Elit in ). Mentoring - won't be banned officially (Kisp alrdy explained basic why's). Yet, if this will seem to be of so great importance, I as well as hopefully Fred and Ownage will agree to play with no-mentoring

Welcome to all joiners!

Finalization of players list is the reason why info on how we proceed is delayed (still hope that a few more fellas will join our crew ). So far it looks that we gotta split whole party in two groups and go for 1/4 playoffs afterwards.

Since it seems that all who wanted to join, have expressed their wish (Willgefors is in as well ), we can start gaming.

I updated masterpost of this thread with final rules and format of the tourney info. But if you are too lazy to look there , here are the most essential things:

...

Format Of The Tournament
1. Tournament will happen in two stages - preliminary group round and playoffs.

2. During the preliminary round there are two groups of 4 or 5 players per group. In each group everyone plays with everyone one game.

3.Groups are:
Group A:
Fraudatio
DrOwnage
Jinxer
Fiur
Bala Car

Group B:
Elit
Willgefors
Lord Michal
Destro

4. Final ranking in the group is determined by the number of wins. If two players has same number of wins, the decisive factor is the win in the game between them. If three players has same number of wins, their final rank is decided by playing 3-way game on map "Rat Race".

6. Two best players from each group advance to playoff stage, where they meet 4 players that have wild cards directly to playoff round (Strider, Towerlord, Kispagat, Zilo).

7. Winner of each preliminary round group can choose one from two wild card players he wants to play with in 1/4 finals (Towerlord or Strider for winner of the group A and Kispagat or Zilo for winner of the group B).

Reporting System
All reporting will be done through ToH forums in a separate report thread (here).

Basic Rules:
1. Both players can choose starting town/hero.

2. There are no restarts and no reloads - this is suicide world, folks

3. Game settings:
- time limit for turn: unlimited
- difficulty is "hard"
- autosave is on
- sim turns are on
- dynamic battles are off
- ghost mode is off.

4. No boat stealing.

5. Color of the player for each game is represented in the score table of the tourney in the Reports and Rankings thread.

Advanced Rules:
1.About choosing starting town/hero:
Both players choose their starting town/hero without knowing opponents choice. If both players want to play with the same hero, choosing town/hero should be redone (during second choosing both players should choose different town/hero from the first choice).

2.About boat stealing:
"Boat stealing" means that you use Vessel of Shalasa spell when u don't have any free boats. Doing so is is forbidden during tourney games. If this happens, another player can ask for reload or summon stolen boat back during next turns.
Only exception here is if you summon boat near the center lake or at the side of the opponent - in those case "stealing boat" is allowed.

Players can use different rules, if both can reach the agreement.

Deadlines And Judging
It is expected that all players will be able to play at least one "Twilight World" game during 3 weeks, therefore final deadline of the preliminary round is July 31st, 2009.
All games that won't be played till the deadline, will count as losses for both players (unless one of the players can prove that he tried to arrange the game, but it was not possible to find the opponent).

...

So full trottle and bring some glory into the gloomy walls of Moria

P.S. If there is somebody else who is willing to join, you still can do it (preliminary groups are limited with 5 players per group, so now there is at least one (and, most likely, even two) free spots

Simpliest way - you both count "one, two, three" and then press enter

If this seems no good, you both choose your heroes and send them to somebody else (u can ask me to help or just anyone)

But in general I'm quite sure that most ppl will be happy to play all random, so there won't be much need for this
