Yeah sorry for the confusion. Will be checking the replays soon

On sq's game I think you kinda sold it. Shooting the poltergeists with ballista was a good gamble, even one shot would be a relief there. And even afterwards you did not focus on them(that had vampirism, haste while your units defense was getting lesser and lesser) but used implosions on zombies that you could take down at any time. Ok maybe not any time

I think the turning point was when i had 16 Poltergeists left, and Arcax shifted attention to the zombies to make the attack efficient, why ? I think last game, the zombies was nasty with vampirism as well.

My lesson in this battle is never to give up until the last min
Before i could touch his main army, My level 1,4,6,7 were almost all gone.

Main decision for me this game is

Trying out the frenzy on 45% druids was a poor decision especially after the first decay went thru.

Making the decision to kill the ballista, luckily it went thru

Main decision for Arcax
I think its the 16 Poltergeists he choose not to kill.

But on the other note, There was no sign to Arcax that i would have expert summoning until the first raise dead. I think I concealed it well

Also he pushed me all the way right from the start I couldn't do anything about it

Maybe he didn't expected the raise dead to be so much in numbers ? Stopping vampirism on zombies was more important

Although the game went in my favor eventually, Arcax played a really good game

Zombies could hardly raise their numbers as fast. He could leave them entangled and keep defending Also if I'm not mistaken he could have predicted better the incorporeal attacks, there were a few cases where he missed some good attacks.

It went like that mainly because i was too confident after seeing that only Poltergeists and Rots are standing while I myself had around 27 Unicorns,19 Treants 75 Dancers and almost all druids. I feared that if Zombies kill at least one treant their numbers would sharply increase.

On the other hand my key strategy should be to protect ballista at all cost but I didnt pay enough attenton to this element.

Played the final game with blizzard, score is 2-1 in my favour. Now I've gotta find pera

The game was academy vs haven, a long challenging game where my high mana eventually allowed me to outlast him. He had a typical light build with attack, leadership and basic defense for vitality while my wizard had light/dark with stormwind and complete master of wrath/mind sets and mass endurance. I got +6 knowledge from arties and decent defense so after a mass endurance my army was pretty resistant, the only problem was that his champions managed to act before my 15 init djinns before I could do anything. Initially morale refused to trigger often so he could not press his attack as much as he'd like but later it became extra annoying with his empathy. His divine guidance saved him from a few puppets

Good game.

I almost forgot we have a new challenger! Veco prevailed in the small final, congrats. Your next opponents are radar and blizzard.

Blizzard 0:1 Veco
Necro vs Haven
Now that was a very close game Pedant of Conflux and Mass Cleansing saved my butt more than once but sadly my 25%+10% resistance didn't show up untill the very last moments of the game saving me from the inevitable. At the end I accumulated mana for one more Ressurection + my vindicators would take down the ghosts in 2 hits. And Blizzard finally ran out of mana, that firewall was insane
Thanks for the game

contestant power ratings:

just wanted to point out average points per game for each contestant:

sq79: 8
radar: 5
elvin:4.4
arcax: 4.2
blizzardboy: 3.3
perathekojot: 3.25
veco: ?

it appears sq79 is favored to win

some might argue that he has only played in 2 tournaments, but at the same time this means less is known about him giving him an advantage; after all knowledge is power.

so who do yo think will win?

Did another game with Veco. It was my Stronghold vs his Dungeon. I came into it with very little confidence since I didn't get retribution despite building up to it. Fortunately, I forgot that I was Stronghold so I was able to mindlessly and idiotically pave over him without any thought and secure an easy undeserved win:

3rd game was my Inferno vs his Sylvan, which is one of my favorite match ups, however I misclicked the sphinx on 'No' and it wouldn't let me learn.  I guess we're doing our third game sometime later.

Loved the first game, simply exciting I haven't seen a dark/destructive necro in ages and the knight surviving though all that is damn lucky remarkable.

About dungeon what have I told you veco? Never summoning alone against a straight charging melee faction. Can't wear down their rage at the rate they attack so you just delay the inevitable. The moment you start raising it's target practice - free rage up for grabs.

I would have never thought that Enrage ability of Vindicators will add so much to attack. 46 Attack in the end

Easy, total points per tournament each of us participated in. But like the toh ratings such statistics mean ABSOLUTELY nothing when it comes to the better players. Maybe if we made it out of 100 games they would be more accurate but right now those who played few tournaments are the most susceptible to random factors. Sq lost to Azzie in the first round of chaos tournament, if that was the only game he played you might have considered him a noob

I had a late session with pera and excluding the first game the other two were amazingly fun and fulfilling Always a pleasure to fight such an opponent.

Now, first game was my haven versus his orcs. I initially wanted dark but it refused to appear early so I decided to skip it and aim for retribution, power of speed and endurance. It proved the better since he took shatter dark. My initiative was ridiculous legendary

Second was my summoning/defensive dungeon against his dwarves. His beginning was so damn irritating, if not for his constant bashes/paw strikes I could have at least slowed his battleragers Proved interesting but I was in disadvantage very early.

As fate would have it the final clash would be my beloved academy against its mortal enemy, haven. Not surprisingly pera went both light/dark and so did I but I did not have magic mirror. His mana was bottomless and his stats outstanding yet it proved one of my better games. Should have known that without cleansing two vampiric powerhouses cannot be brought down, not anytime soon. I did not save my remaining archmage's mana for cleansing as I was afraid the conscrips would bash me. And they did even when below 50 as if to mock me, gimme a break. Eventually I turned in the most annoying tactics I could think of, use motw with unmastered icebolt, crystal spam and a resurrection frenzy the likes of which have never been seen before Alas I could not wait till his vampirism/immunity duration was over, proved more than I could chew but I just could not give up. Went down fighting

Final score 1-2 in pera's favour.

Replays.

It already shows which players are likely to advance to semifinals With me having a score of 3/6 I would not be surprised if I was eliminated. Arcax will replace Radar's place as veco's opponent to speed up the process, haven't seen him lately.

Edit: I had a couple mistyped scores, my apologies to Arcax that thought he had 4 pts In the case we cannot determine the top 4 due to same scores:

If those players are from the same group the one that defeated the other in the first phase is the one that advances.
If they are from a different group then it will be decided in the best of three.

Finished my 3rd game with Radar.
Sq Orcs - Academy Radar

This one I was outrageously lucky, somehow I seem to be very lucky against Radar, I got that perfect retribution/tactics/battle frenzy/englightment build with bloody claw all in 1 go without much mentoring needed.
Hence it was abit hard for academy right at the start. Orcs win.

I don't think the power ratings are true. Arcax has given me super hard games and Radar is seems to be cursed by me hehe .
A lot still depends on luck and artifacts, guessing the position and starting atb.

I had a taste of Elvin's luck yesterday, destroyed 3-0 by him, it was definitely more deadly than Elven's luck

So its anybody's game

Cool matches. The ballista for the Dungeon was pretty nice. Ring of Caution (I assume?) isn't the greatest investment for Necro considering the vamp princes can get an almost guaranteed torpor on the first turn. The 11 vamps torporing the 8 black dragons was lol-worthy as always.

2nd game was interesting. I've been waiting to see the two ringleader armies go at each other. Fortress performed pretty well. I think perhaps it came down to what runes you ended up with. Rune of Battlerage and Etherealness would have been very helpful.

In the necro game I didn't have the Ring of Caution but the -2Luck/Morale ones. Also Cloak of Sylanna and Boneward, yet still 8 Bansees died after 1 meteor. Without that set I'd be blown away in 2 casts. And then there was the ballista, hehe

About the fortress one - uhh Rage kept his defences impenetrable, curses his shout and Fear My Roar, it would be a lot easier if I could get in an early fireball or two to keep the Rage down before those shamans got to my units
