I never paid much attention to the details, I just listened to the music. I always thought Clapton did most of the singing with Cream.

I never heard of Trower until Bridge of Sighs. The first time I heard him I heard the title track on the radio and called the station to find out who it was. I think it was a couple years later I saw the concert. I'd guess around 1976 or so.

No, Clapton was focussed on his guitar play with Cream.
Trower had been guitar player for Procol Harum, but that wouldn't work, obviously, because PH were pretty keyboard-dominated due to Gary Brroker's dominance, so he left rather quickly. I was looking for someone who might induce some Hendrix-feeling at the time and eventually discovered Trower.
His first albums were great, imo: Twice Removed..., Bridge of Sighs, For Earth Below. Long Misty Days already felt a bit thin. In City Dreams was great again, imo, but style changed. Caravan to Midnight went straight to the 80s and the next one even more so, and with those two albums Trower vanished from my field of vision.
However, German TV showed a recent concert a couple of years ago, which I watched - and it was pretty good. I re-discovered him, checking into his newer work then, which is bluesy again.
I wasn't so fortunate to see him in the 70s, though.

For some reason Cream never touched me THAT deeply. Sure, they were good and all, and they had a couple of really good songs, but I found their longer songs, those with long improvisation parts, too unstructured, especially live, if you know what I mean: if guitar AND bass are playing solo, and the drummer is giving all as well, it gets difficult to follow, so-to-speak. I was more into the Hendrix Experience style, especially the last line-up with Cox on Bass who even then had a slightly funky style, playing rather a note less then one more, plus Mitchells precise drumming. And the man on the guitar, of course.

I went to see Eric Clapton in concert in May.
No support acts, just full on Clapton Live.

I also saw Santana last year who was great, though even better was Roger Waters (from Pink Floyd). Not only was the music amazing, but he also told stories about how some of his songs came about accompanied by footage and images projected behind him, along with floating spacemen and giant pigs spray-painted with 'IMPEACH BUSH' bouncing around the arena.

My brother always made fun of me because I was the one yelling "Turn that music DOWN".  I have somewhat sensitive ears, and loud noises can cause me physical pain.  ((Somebody starts yelling, I have to leave the room)).  So if I can go to a concert, believe me it is not very loud.

You know what I hate?
People who make stupid assumptions. Or limit their choices.

Where does it say anything about "damaging" yourself in recreation? I missed that part. Are those activities the only recreation you can possibly think about? Talking about narrowmindedness.

I mean, computer games are also teh evil. Look at WoW for instance. Definitely there's no other choice, is there... kinda on the same level of narrowmindedness.

It's all nice and all to equate recreation with concerts, but please don't say that it's what I implied or even believe.

Ok I realize it doesn't make any sense without it so here's the summary:

Binabik said that you have to live your life, and did so in reference to recreation, somehow implying that I said recreation is bad for your health or something (on the contrary).

This I said, I found ridiculous because I was not talking about recreation, I was talking about loud concerts. The problem is that, while he probably equates loud concerts with recreation (I find it impossible, since damaging oneself is not so much of a recreation in my book), I don't.

With the "narrowmindedness" I meant that just like some people equate "computer games" with "WoW" (sarcasm was used in my post), which is completely and utterly ridiculous, so is loud concerts equate with recreation.

What I'm saying is that, by the nature of his post, he meant that you either have loud concerts, or no recreation at all. That is, no other 'real' recreation (at least in my book).

So since I did not advocate loud concerts for reasons explained previously, he assumed that I am against recreation. Totally wrong. That's all. Make sense?

This is what got me confused in both of your posts. I'm sorry, but no matter how I read Binabik's post I cannot see that. I see his post consisting of 3 parts:

The first one is about coolness, where he indeed mentions recreation. At the end he adds a wiki quote about it. It's true that you didn't say anything about recreation, no one accused you of doing so, but it wasn't the main point of Binabik's post.

The main point comes in the second part, where he explains why in his view concerts are still good despite the damage they produce.

And then there's a third part, where he actually talks on topic and mentions the concerts he was at, but who cares about stuff like that, right?

Well I know this thread is about concerts that I have been to but I thought this was cool enough to share with all of you.

Just learnt that my dad, back in the 70's went to a few concerts. There were a series of about 4 or so concerts of Uriah Heep, he went to 2 of them. There was also Black Sabbath and Uriah Heep and he went to that as well. However, the best concert he said he went to was Led Zepplin live at Sydney Showground in 1972 or 1973 or so. Was about 98,000 people there. He said it was the best concert he'd ever been to. He's a big Led Zep fan.
