Latest thread posts in reply window

When I have to quote more than one post and only parts of some posts, it's clumsy to copy paste them separately by going to reply window and back as many times as I have to quote something.

Could we have a feature that shows, for example, five latest posts of a thread in the reply window so necessary parts could be quoted without any back & forward clicking?

Excellent Idea

Though I think it should be the lastest 10 posts, at least.

Yes, very good idea. I've seen this on many forums before and it's extremely handy.

I think it's easier to keep a tab open, than having the last ten monster posts hog all the space. I'm talking about OSM, glade and sometimes AOH, here.

That was my first thought too. I don't think it's that complicated so implementing this new future seems both unneccesary apart from having the disadvantages Dagoth already mentioned.

I understand. Sorry for making a joke where there is no room for it. I'll take care of it. Too bad really this could have been great Dagoth. Some other time in the wastelands.

WTF? That is completely pointless argument. The window would be exactly like it is now except that you can scroll down to show the replies. It doesn't eat up any space. If you want, you can imagine that the replies aren't even there. I don't see where it would eat space from.

Well it's true that generating those replies to be displayed will load up the page more but I think that's negligible with nowadays connection speed and server specs.

I don't really care though (about this feature I mean), I can keep a tab like others said and I do most of the time with no problems.

hey I went to this forum where the "post reply" function linked to a smaller window!!! Where we make our post and we could easily minimize or move and review the threads content!

Just an idea/solution to consider. I like it and it does not load up the thread again. it has more perks than this though, I wont go into them unless asked too.

*rubs temples*

I meant, of course, the viewing space... You press 'post reply' and boom! Ten massive quotalicious postspop up and hog your vision, along with some extre kb of bandwidth... It sounds hard to cooperate, and honestly, I don't see why an extra tab hurts. Call me a conservative veteran, but I doubt the practicality of it all...

Now, I wouldn't mind, if I could shut the function off.

Nah, this idea isn't so good for me (I also use tabs).

What would be cool would be a "quick reply" for those who don't use smileys or BB codes by clicking (but rather by writing). This quick reply would be display below of every page on a thread in a rectangle like the Post Reply one, and have a button "Quick Reply". That's all.

What's wrong with the button at the bottom of the post reply window that says Click Here To Review Thread?  That's always worked just fine for me.

lol it's not a button and I noticed it before but it is in a way put into the page that I forgot it existed

I think the solution is already here!! Let's see, does it erase the text I type in if I push afterwards?

*presses back on the browzer to return to this text*

Well, it is great but we have to either click it before we start our reply, or copy our text and past after we press it. . That is easy enough for most people to probably not worry about it.

Great feature, thanks MM for reminding me about it.

If easily implemented it would be nifty to change the whole thing into a button, would be pretty noticeable that way.  Not required though as long as we know it exists.

You mean people actually write replies in the post reply window? Unless it's really short, I write everything in notepad then copy/paste it when I'm done (usually after running a spell check since I'm terrible at spelling).

perhaps there is a command for the most cool mozilla add on I have ever used!

Fire gestures. Use either the middle, left or right (right by default and best for a few reasons) to move the mouse in patterns like a circle, an X, whatever, aslong as it bears the up, down, left, right, etc, it prompts the program to initiate preset scripts to do various things.

I have down, to reload (helpful in dragon cave)
I have left down to copy the page title and url
example done in a mouse click

etc.. anyways.. Ya maybe I can find or make a script to do stuff, to.. make reviewing threads easy lol
