It just sucked because if I had read the title right, I wouldn't have been in this situation.. :/
But Im going to the local city and I might trade it for the original or just buy it
Or is that a bad idea, is the expansions any good?
(those I bought by accident are the two first, The pitt and Anchorage)

I think Anchorage is needed for some mods since it raises the level cap (kinda like how Shivering Isles gave tons of stuff for the Oblivion modders). The others... meh not so much. The modders out there have made far more awesome stuff anyway.
But I'm hardly an expert on this game so don't trust me ok?
I have Fallout 3 on 360 so I'm stuck without mods, but the vanilla version is pretty damn good anyway.

how do the extensions work?
do you have to start a new game on a new map, or can you continue with your save and enjoy new features?

You can continue with your current character afaik.
EDIT: Ofcourse, if you've finished the main story in the vanilla version which actually ends the game, you'll have to start over. But if you haven't completed the original story mode and get the expansion, you'll be able to complete the main story without ending the game.
Dunno why they made it that way in the first place. In Oblivion you could complete the main story and then just continue having fun...

They are mods with some modfication of the hardcoded part of the game.
So they are drop and install as far as i understood.

I should get broken steel to level up level 30. there are some abilities I wanted and couldn't take.
what are your favourite perks?
so far mine are :
comprehension : with all the books in the game, it's quite a huge bonus
Educated : works well with comprehension
Size matters : quite a nice bonus to heavy weapons
Night person : not only you can see enemies from much further, but you are also more effective at lockpicking and hacking during the night.
Pyromaniac : this ability must be imba. turns the flamethrower and the shishkebab into powerhouses.
Robotics expert : Who said robots are hard to destroy?
Action boy : allows you to perform a few additionnal attacks in vats mode
Grim reaper's sprint : makes you almost unstoppable

Hmm.... Robotics Expert I think. It makes all robot battles a breeze even on the highest difficulty. Just sneak up behind em and deactivate, really useful for those Sentry Bots.
I feel that comprehension isn't really needed if you're not a super hardcore player who wants to max everything, educated gives all the extra points you need and you don't have to run around looking for books all the time.
My next character will probably be a flame/explosives guy in Power Armor. I'll probably go for Bloody Mess with that character, I didn't like the exploding bodyparts thing when I was shooting with normal guns but with a Flamethrower it'll just be beautiful... a body exploding into 6 burning limbs, yay.

comprehension may give way more points than educated
bloody mess offers quite a big bonus overall, but I would rather take something more specialized like demolition expert and pyromaniac.
actually, sometimes I sneak up behind robots and don't think about deactivating them but with the shocker (power fist with additionnal damage against robots) + 25% bonus damage, it's still not bad
when I play broken steel, I may try to get the perks for unarmed combat. +15 damage + chance to paralyze + better criticals sounds almost imba
but in another hand, since I mostly play with the waser wifle, I don't know... maybe that perk which increases your accuracy after each shot, that way I can use it instead of the sniper

Mwahahahaha, with the right perks and equipment you can make 8 shots in V.A.S.T with the Wazer Wifle, it's a totally awesome weapon. Even better than the super Plasma Rifle you get from the Android quest, and cooler.

so far I can shoot 6 times with it. I suppose I can reach 8 or 9 shoots by using a jet + a nuka cola quantum.
before, my weapon was the railway rifle, but I can only shoot 4 times with it I think. in another hand it does some good limbs damage.
oh and the alien blaster is cooler than the waser wifle. but you don't have much ammo
I think I'll keep it for the behemoths...

You know what kills Behemoths? Jack (the unique Ripper)
It's SICKLY powerful, you can take down a Behemoth in lower than 5 seconds when in Sneak mode. (with Better Criticals, maybe Ninja too)

I have the ripper but not jack.
I killed one behemoth, but it took a long time. missile launcher + laser rifle I think (I didn't have the wazer wifle)
are you really talking about those 10m high mutants? not the master ones who carry miniguns?

I encountered one in some museum, I used the Victory Rifle. It causes Knockdown on critical so the Behemoth was mainly just lying down while I was scoring criticals.
I met one earlier too... think I finished it off with a few Fatman rounds and a bottlecap mine.
EDIT: Yeah the 10m ones, Jack is a sick weapon
It makes like 40 hits per second and all of them have a critical chance, and it ignores armor too.
The Master Mutants should die in less than a second.

if you have not seen gameplay from god of war...
trust me, you will feel the slave daggers upon your wrists if youre anything like I am (skip like 30 seconds into the combat scenes if you wish)
I am picking up 1 and 2 this weekend. When and if I decide to get ps3, i will get god of war 3, if it is out yet.
Note: the graphics or something require later versions of playstation 2, when playing god of war 1, and I imagine god of war 2 also. As far as I know any version that is slim will work.
Additional note, I can bet they are using a less than normal mode (maybe it is called easy) with this trailer. I personally always got into fighting huge enemies which pose challenge, but with normal mode + even the regular sized guys fulfill that need I have of excitement.

hm, that guy knows how to chain attacks. I found it easier to do some kickass combo in gow1, the special attacks are cooler. in gow2 I mainly use a hit and run tactic.
were the games released on another platform than PS2?

they made one for psp, didnt do well.
Not sure if god of war 3 is released at this time but, i would bet it is gonna be great. It is or will be for the playstation 3.
It is the only game, I felt immensed in a large reality, not knowing what to expect, seeing massive giants from afar smashing 1000s of people in a city the whole time I was on that map, that I would fight one day. The puzzles? Genius, I hate to say this but I might actually have to check wiki from time to time. Not because they are impossible, but whoever can work every last one of those out deserves props from me.
I never played 2.. I got really good at one though, made it to last boss (the horde of those guys *not giving spoilers*) in hard mode, and got pretty far in that challenge where I had not be hit once...
Plz, do not raid ebay this weekend (thats what I am gonna do tommorow) , but the console itself, and games, on a bad day 75 bucks I can get like 5-10 games and a PS2 slim, functional condition.
I considered Xbox but, nah, GOW its my favorite hands down console game, possibly favorite game of all.
