Resident Evil 4 wasn't a horror game.
It's an action game.

well, you had to behead people and there was quite a lots of blood if I remember well. also, the state of the various place was quite horrific (apart maybe the castle, it was quite clean overall)

It never really scared me either, except for the good old Out-of-Ammo-Panic-Situations.

re4? I finished the pro mode with a case full of ammo. I mainly used the pistol and the knife.

btw, saddler isn't too bad in pro mode, but I had quite a lot of grenades for him

RE 4 was an action game indeed ;p but a very good one in my opinion!
I have it to wii, and i gotta say, that it's some of the best "adult" games to the wii you can get!
But now you mentioned it:
Is the other RE games scarry? (Not "dead space" scarry, but "fear" scarry?)

the other resident evil are scary in the way of being surprised by the enemy... and the sense of urgency to survive... not that much on enviroments or suspense...

Lots of blood and beheading don't make the game scary. The feeling of unknown and hopelessness does.

RE 1 and 2 were scary. Not like fear or like dead space. Different kind. You were low on ammo all the time, the zombies take a lot of punishment and the camera work is brilliant, you often only hear the zombies but can't see them since the games used fixed angles. And they aren't run throughs. Enemies weren't in every room.
RE 3 and Code Veronica were all right but had no ammo problems and the zombies were weaker. Plus you all ready know the games so well they aren't much of a challenge. Also better controls make them a little easier.
RE 4 was all different. Had loads of ammo. No Zombies. And most of the diffculty was from one hitting surprises or tab the right buttons. And a lot more enemies.

I should learn to separate my answers.
Try Eternal Darkness if you want a scary game DisturbedGnu. It's filled with psychological factors.

Use an emulator. 
Silent Hills are more psychological than REs. You might enjoy those more.

Hmm i can only find emulators that works from Nintendo, Super Nintendo, and Nintendo 64 (Which by the way is awesome ;p Project 64 for the win)
But if the silent hill games is working like the movie, i'll hate it..
But then again, i think when you play a game you are more a part of the horror than if you whatch a movie!?

there is a working emulator for GC.
Never knew there was a movie about silent hill so don't know about that.

Dual core and a decent GPU are enough.
Disable sounds and single core only lags a bit.
Buy the huge box with both NWNs. Problem solved.
