Yeah, but Carolina is absolutely horrible.  Better off waiting another week to pick against the Cardinals. I haven't checked yet, but hopefully the Lions play Carolina this year.
Teams to typically pick against:
Carolina
Detroit
Tampa Bay
St. Louis
Buffalo
Oakland
Tennessee (surprise here)
If you are going pick one of the above teams this week, take Detroit.

Miami is definitely better than their record shows... look for them to get hot in the up comming weeks.

I have a gut feeling Minnesota is skating on thin ice... too many Brett Favre heroic stories this year.  They will lose to a 1/2 decent team with a good defense...6-1 is deceiving.

Teams to typically take each week:
New Orleans
Indianapolis
NY Giants
Denver
New England

Wtf, Lkru handing out NFL advice. Very nice allthough I could have figured out myself that you should go with the 6-0, 6-1 teams and against the 0-7, 1-6 teams. Why dont you go a little deeper?

Why are Carolina as bad as you claim?

Why should you normally pick against Buffalo? They do have 3 wins (won last 2) and allmost beat New England away.

Are the Giants really as good as you say? They sucked big time vs the cardinals. I dont see their offence producing much.

What has happend in Tennessee since last year? Are they much worse on papir or is it a moral thing? If its the last wouldnt you expect them to get going at some point?

Do you really see Denver as a better team than Pitsburg or maybe just luckier?

There are 2 reasons why I have picked Carolina over the Cardinals:

1. Arizona has 4 wins, but only 1 win vs a really good team, the Giants. The other 3 wins were vs Jaguars, Texans and Seahawks...not a big deal.

2. The Panthers are no.1 in the league refering to defense passing. The Cardinals are no.7 in offense passing. So the way the Cardinals prefer to play is exactly what Carolina is able to stand against.

The reason why I stick to the 49ers again this year is the way they have played in the preseason and how the have played in the regular season so far.
1. They beat the Cardinals fair and square
2. They had no problems vs the Seahawks
3. They lost IN Minnesota due to a holy mary from Favre in the last 2 seconds of the game.
4. They crushed the Rams
5. ....ok..no chance vs the Falcons that day
6. They played an awesome 2nd half vs the Texans and only lost close.

And not to forget they have quite an "easy" schedule this year:

Next games:
- Indianapolis
- Tennessee
- Chicago
- Green Bay
- Jacksonville
- Seattle
- Arizona
- Philadelphia
- Detroit
- St.Louis

Especially the last 3 games are doable for them. So I guess 8 or 9 wins are quite possible this year. And that should be enough to claim the division.

So they are much more promising than in any of the last 3 years...

I never said San Fran wasn't a good team... in fact I think their record doesn't represent just how good they are (as you said).  I like Mike Singletary as a head coach... he is a great motivator and you can see it in his team.  I believe San Fran will have a winning record this year.

Carolina? Who have they beaten (2 teams)... 1) Tampa Bay - Bar none, worst team in the NFL this year & 2) Washington - a team the Lions beat.... the LIONS.

@ Marettiolator... yes I know the obvious picks. I did try to throw some in there that weren't so obvious, like Miami for example.  Did you miss that?  How about Minnesota?  I mentioned that they are not as good as their record shows.  Bills suck... they aren't 0-7.  Lose to Cleveland 6-3? Are you kidding me?  Try to prove to me how Buffalo is good this year is about as likely as proving that Deemer is a good Main I think the Lions aren't pathetic... but missing some key players on D.  It will take a few years to undo what Lions management has destroyed over the last decade.
Ok, who is tough but not 6-1 or 7-0?
Houston
San Fran
Cincinatti
Jacksonville
Atlanta
Dallas
Arizona

These teams will battle even the toughest teams in the league and actually have a chance at winning.  Remember, if everything was cut and dry, people would make a living betting on games.  Case and point, the Giants as you mention get destroyed by Arizona.  Arizona has great weapons on their team, Fitzgerald / Boldin probably the best receiving duo in the league... + former Superbowl MVP Kurt Warner can still turn it on at anytime.

Teams lose due to injuries, outside distractions, being outcoached, etc... The Titans have good personel, but lack a team atmosphere in the locker room.  When you lose like they have, there will be lots of fingerpointing from fellow teammates and that will not win you games.  Confidence is shot, morale is shot.  Think of going to battle after visiting a tomb and no morale boosters  They may win a couple games this year to salvage some pride, but nothing more.  Nobody wants to be lumped in with the 0-16 Lions.

Hey Foomolator!

Dont get me wrong here. Im not trying to critize you in any way, just wanted you to share some insight with us. No doubt you are the one with the most NFL insight around here (maybe together with Corribus).

@Minnesota: I totally agree with you there. AP can be shut down if the opponent wants to and then its up to Favre to deliver. And you know my opinion about him They got severel lucky wins and luck wont keep going their way.

@Buffalo: Im expecting T.O. to lift this team on to a higher level any time soon.

@Jacksonville: Im surprised you mention them as one of the tougher teams. Not many tough teams will lose to the Seahawks like they did.

@Dallas: Showed great moral last week. Was one of the things i was missing from them, especially after the Denver game. I dont think they will do that well though. Romo seems to be crubling under pressure, especially on the road.

As we all know allmost anything can happen in the NFL. Damn hard to predict.

I agree that they got a few lucky wins.
Favre seems a little more careful it seems.
I disagree about AP. He is the real deal, he is explosive & very talented. I do agree he will get shut down in a few games. he has more then proven it will rarely happen.

@Buffalo: Im expecting T.O. to lift this team on to a higher level any time soon.

I dont know. TO is getting old & he is not playing with a good QB like he has in the other 3 teams he played for.
I think this is going to be it. What has lee evans done ?

@Jacksonville: Im surprised you mention them as one of the tougher teams. Not many tough teams will lose to the Seahawks like they did.
They are not as bad as you think.
I think MJD (Maurice Jones Drew) is a top 2 back & a good reciever. That Sims guy can catch & Garrard is back from that bad season last season. Plus they got descent not good D.

@Dallas: Showed great moral last week. Was one of the things i was missing from them, especially after the Denver game. I dont think they will do that well though. Romo seems to be crubling under pressure, especially on the road.

He always crumbles, like they said he is almost a celebrity status then an elite status QB.
He is a choker & one of the biggest chokers I ever seen on a good QB.

As we all know allmost anything can happen in the NFL. Damn hard to predict.

It is hard. You never know when Detroit will beat New England

Ugh... throw everything I just said out the window.  The real strategy is to flip a coin on each game.  Dirk, good thing you went with your picks.... St. Louis and Carolina... 2 right for you, 2 wrong for me.

1 week, Eli Manning is a Super Bowl MVP... today, he wouldn't be my first choice for Playground football.  My fault for assuming someone of his calibur would have too much pride to lose like that.

It's just sad to see how the 49ers throw away games they should win normally...

If you do not score in a complete half of a game, be the first or the second half, you can't expect to win it.

But still I find it remarkable to prevent Peyton Manning and his Colts from scoring a touchdown at all..nearly for the whole game.
