Are you sure the earth is only about 3000 years old?

Some people, especially those who have a strong faith in the bible, think, the earth isn't older than about 3000 years.

If this would be fact, please explain this.

I don't understand what the age of Earth have to do with the age of the universe.

Earth or no Earth, those light beams didn't really care.

Also one should have in mind that every method we use are limited to its own assumptions.

As an example, take the carbon 14 test, if there truely was a divine being, able to do anything (or at least to a limit high enough), this being could also magically produce the elements required for us to be decieved, not to say, could also just simply let the apparature come with false positives, without tampering with the element in relation to our senses.

We try to be reasonable in doing research, but when we're making a research in history, it can be very difficult, because we've no true method of showing, that this is correct, because we can't put it to the test and view the past.

That being said, the scientific methods we're using, have some very reasonable assumptions, and I thrust it to be these to be most likely to be true.

Actually, you need to do some research. No one claims the earht is only 3000 years old. Christ was born 2000 years ago. King David was 1000 years before that. I don't know anyone who thinks human history started with King David.

I already mentioned in another thread recently that the "days" of creation are most likely ages and some reasons for thinking so. I'll not bother repeating the arguments here.

The Bible is absolutely true. It does contain parables, allegories, metaphors, hyperbolees, and other figures of speech.

For example, in one passage Jesus said he cast out devils by the finger of God. It is obvious that a big ol' finger did not swoop down from heaven and thump the demon out. He meant he cast out demons by the power of God.

People us figures of speech in daily life but some people try to pretend that the Bible can't use figures of speech. Much of the Bible was written in poetry in the original language.

Luk 11:20  But if I with the finger of God cast out devils, no doubt the kingdom of God is come upon you.

I read that as a contradiction. Still:

How can anybody be so stupid they don't get that by just reading? Why explain it? Its already explained when read.
Why even bother to put down words as if you image your talking to a wall of idiots?

The entire point Jesus made is able to be summed up in one sentence: Know you are loved.

tadaaaa! Anyone who claims otherwise is elodin and his opinions hold no sway over me. Also.

Stop contradicting yourself. Did or didn't god cast out demons? the finger doesn't matter.

No, Elodin's interpretation is all wrong.  What really happened is that Jesus was riding into Jerusalem on a camel, and someone on another camel cut Jesus off, and Jesus gave the guy the finger.  And trust me, you don't want to get the finger of God.
