Are you listening to what I'm saying? How will that happen if they don't even care what the docs/teachers say? Not in sex, not in alcohol, not in smoking. Soft drinks, for instance, despite being damaging (in health), see a rise in popularity.

They disregard the teachers' advice when it's convenient for them, but if the advice can help them live their hedonistic lifestyle and they understand that, then they'll follow it.

Furthermore, being a soldier or "assassin" (because murder was brought up) requires certain skills, even though you may disagree with them. Consider this: one alternative to stop all kids from learning any potentially skills you disagree with is to lock them up. They won't learn any skills that way. Let's see how "developed" they will be.

Hey kids! How many times have you watched a movie and thought, "Wow! I want to learn to strangle people like that too!"?

Well it's all possible now with Deathy's Youth School for Useful Skills! Take one of our many courses such as assassination, mercenary warfare, suicide terrorism or sea piracy (one school trip to Somalia included), and become the person your parents always wished for you to be. And that's not all, if you're under 14 years of age, you get a 20% discount on all live ammunition you buy for educational purposes!

It certainly beats having sex!

Facts are, Death is a sexophobe. He's biassed to the point of haviung a completely twisted view of reality. It's quite obvious that a young lovers school would teach lots of skills, ans skills that had a lot of worth in real life - discipline, for example, politeness, hygiene, social skills, you name it.

Celfious is quite obviously biassed as well - he's simply assuming the best for the young marines school - RESPONSIBLE teaching in every respect, no drilling, no brainwashing, not too big influencing, all positive and so on - and the worst for a young lovers school - children having sex with each other and so on, in short IRResponsible teaching, and so on.

Both ignore that I didn't attack the young marines school as such; I just attacked the reasoning given to justify it, because with that reasoning there was nothing wrong with a young lovers school. Which leads to the conclusion that society is biassed here, and in fact it is; speech is showing it because there is nothing wrong with using words in connection with killing, hurting, wounding and so on, not even the slang words for it, but if it comes to sex, suddenly everything is off limits.
Even the reasons for that are clear, but that's probably going too far for this thread.

I think that when you started talking about a "young lovers'" school, we assumed that you meant that it was going to focus on the ways to have sex, etc. (At least, that's how I understood it.) Now that you've explained that it would talk about stuff like manners, hygiene, etc - then I have very little against it.

Most sane kids can see the difference between fiction and reality

Anyway. About alcohol.
Alcohol should be banned to. If alcohol was introduced today, it would NEVER get through and be legal. Alcohol causes so much suffering and death.

But since alcohol isnt banned, I will probably start to drink too. But not a lot. Just a little. Plus I only like Cider anyway

Right. Better for them to do nothing and totally unproductive "skills", like going in bars and drinking.

In what stretch of the imagination is it better to learn how to load a rifle than to go out and "socialize" and "have fun"?

"Enjoying life" is overrated anyway, it's unproductive.
Shooting, now that's productive

That's about all I have to say on the matter.

On the sex ed thing:

I get what Jolly Joker is saying. He's pointing out the flaws in the defence of young marines, which is that they "should be educated on it because it is potentially dangerous", just like sex.

Joker points out that a similar school of teaching kids how to have sex is just as ridiculous as a school which teaches them how to load and shoot an automatic rifle (hardly a self defence weapon)

This is entirely different to sex ed in schools, which is the POINT he is trying to make. You can have sex ed in schools which teaches of the dangers without teaching kids to have sex practically.
By analogy, you can teach kids the dangers of weapons in the classroom without actually sending them to boot camp at the age of 8.

Quote:
Then they should be able to inform themselves if they take such actions. I mean it's not like they follow school procedures by having sex anyway, so "informing themselves" isn't that far-fetched, they're already making the decisions themselves...

This is the similarity that is the whole point of the analogy. It's a double standard to things that are considered "dangerous" because of the gun culture of America.

And you are apparently unable to be civilized in a discussion. Maybe your brain can't handle it -- of course I don't like to assume such immature things, but this has repeated itself far beyond the ridiculous stage.

I think there's much more discipline to be found in a marine school. Politeness is... uh... a bit universal/common.

Social skills? WHAT? (ah, maybe you mean prostitution )

No I don't know or care what skills you had in mind for such schools, but tell me a skill specific, that is based solely on, the "lovers" concept and does not apply anywhere else (otherwise, it is a common skill/discipline, so you cannot possibly use it in that school's favor, since it can be found in others should they implement it).

I think you should try to look in a mirror sometime.
Yes the marine school outcomes can be 'bad' and aren't always the 'best', but that's not the point. It's like this:

Marine: Criminal -> Bad outcome
Lover: Rapist -> Bad outcome
Marine: Normal -> Ok outcome
Lover: Normal -> Worthless outcome

maybe not using english is easier.

Hmm, I dunno geez, maybe if you had to use a gun? Schools are for teaching skills, not morals. The latter is subjective.

If you want to "have fun", you should go to kindergarten.

Quote:

wait, what?

Did you even understand what I was saying?

What have I been talking about in all of the last posts? Right, about skill. You know, the "stuff" that is built and learned in steps, not with a 5 minute research of information. (I don't know about you, but info=/=skill)

Even if they wanted to shoot people (in what you said) they couldn't "look it up". Furthermore, more close of an analogy to that would be someone being a rapist in comparison to a shooter.

(which would be the worst outcomes from both)

However the main point here is that, even though both have "bad outcomes", the lovers school has the 'worthless outcomes' for the other cases.

But I'm right, am I? You are a sexophobe, and it's obvious that your view of reality is twisted. What's more, it's easy to see: Think about the PAIN humans will suffer their whole life through, suffering when either beloved persons suffer or even die, and when they themselves suffer. Why should the rational mind be forced to stand thaat, but shy away from the flipside of the coin, enjoying the pleasure life can bring? That would be irrational, because it makes no sense at all.
Which means that your basic stance to life is irrational.

It's the other way round: YOU must show ME which fine skills the YM school teaches that the others don't and how those are important or why they can't be taughtg in a normal school.

Typical Death. No, it's NOT like this. You make that up. It's just an unfounded claim, an assumption based on nothing but Death logic, wishful thinking, reality twisting. Which gets worse with the part directed to TA. Can you give me ONE good reason for this 4-way chart?

See, Death, once you simply don't accept the host of unfounded assumptions all your posts are based upon, there is just nothing left anymore, that's the problem. It hasn't got anything to do with an inability to be civilized, but with YOUR inability not to invent stuff and base conslusions on them.
