Vista and HOMM 3 complete? then Wog

EEDDDITTT
Oooooh.. OOOh I feel stupid.. The reason why no one answers in websearch is because it should install no prob my disc was a little scratched and had years of settlement on it. D:

plz delete thread or something unless you want to throw tomatoes

I thought a little wipe down with my shirt would work but I had to go with some actual disc cleaning methods

I have searched this forum and google to find a way to install Heroes 3 complete.
Google searching, I came up with perhaps a solution but I dont understand it.

go to system configuration, under general tap select the diagnostic start up box. restart you computer, windows is going to look way different now but the program should install. after installing, open system configuration again, click slective start up and the two boxes under it "load system services and load star up items. click the start up tab and press enable all and then press ok, restart. and all should be back to normal! have fun.
and it had no responses anyways

Am I basically screwed yet another way by windows compatibility issues?

I want to install HOMM III complete then WoG

3/5 of the checks fail

Operating system (I have windows vista)
memory I have 4 GB and I fail because 32MB is required?
Direct X - Unknown version

I run through the installation anyways with hopes I can at least put a patch in but when I try to install, at 23% it says

an error occurred during the move data process: -106

Componentrogram files
File Group: LangInde Program Files
File: LAVA.MP3

if windows was not so bad I would write this off as my disc needs a good cleaning but nah, i think the old saying about computers work as well as the users make it work is a load of crap and I hope windows 7 is actually retro compatible

I did the web search and I think what it is now is that people already know vista sucks and to not even ask or answer anymore because so much is incompatible with it that is compatible with XP and 98. I see many of this same question, and responses do not give yes or no answers to whether its possible or not to install on vista.

Including in this heroescommunity.. The only thing I could find was in post one, I quoted...

ill, right click things until I go crazy or give up but instead does anyone have a yes or no]/b] to my question>?

\going to store

Well, maybe you can do thing that I did with running WoG on my netbook (I have XP on it, but...) - Install H3 complete on other computer, then copy whole H3 vfolder on pendrive or something on that it will fill, then just paste this folder on your Vista and install WoG. Maybe that will work.

Celfious, lava.mp3 is a music track from the CD. When such errors: either cd is screwed, or the "copy" you got by dirty means is corrupted. Try another torrent

For the memory error, it is normal. At that time they did not include a check for bigger memory. Just ignore the warning, we all do that.
