Hey, guys, let's just all calm down, shall we?
Now, the information on the Republicans that Elodin gave was correct, but there are plenty of bad things they did as well. The Democrats have primarily been anti-african american during the 1800s and first 60-70 years of the 1900s, but there are plenty of great people within the Democratic party as well.
However, Elodin is wrong about the Christians. As much as they are supposed to be good, loving people (and don't get me wrong, most of them are), it would be unwise to forget that they sometimes do get quite riled up about any opposing faiths or beliefs. Take a look at the Crusades or the Spanish Inquisition, and you'll understand.
Now, to get back on topic, the KKK is a legal group, despite how horrible they are. Therefore, they have the right to set terms in which they decide who to accept to their group(s). As much as they do terrible things, it is logical to assume that they wish to have people of higher standards to either polish their image or to get to their glory days. Or both.

KKK is about hate against blacks.
Al-Qaeda is about (extreme) Islamic fundamentalism.
Not the same thing.

Don't worry, I think it's just fun to see our neighbours here.  I am quite srb-friendly. I once got a load of snow on me when I suggested that bosna could be splitted up between us two christian peoples, a lot of people gone through the roof and a 'thompson' type girl who is also in my church slapped me twice in my face and told me that I'm a guzica.
