Problem solved if you have another language version of windows go to check the path of the game, it should be in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftDirectPlayApplications looking to see if the word PATH and change the native language word for path to the english version path

I made small HOMM 3 Page.
It includes HOMM3 strategies and tactics and of course a GERMAN Newbie+MSN-Zone Guide.

Ports...I assume your talking about firewall...hmmm
In my humble experience with computers, it is individual which ports you should or should not open..I need more details!
But as I recall you have mentioned this problem before, or am I mistaken? There are plenty of computer-Wizzys in ToH lobby just ; CRY HAVOC !( Shakespeare ) or just ask for help.
I have a zf list ( zone -friends ) they, or some of them can solve your problem, im sure ( the list comming is not by whom I like or treasure the most...its just in the order they are listed as zf's )

Yes I have posted about this before and I am only asking again, because I had given on Homm3 for Homm4... but since homm4 still has no multiplayer I am back for more suffering trying to get the zone to work.
Ok here is my setup. I am behind a linksys router, and when I do normal TCp/IP multiplayer game it works fine as I have the following ports fowarded to my local machine (note I am not and will not run my machine in the DMZ)
Ports: 2300 - 2400 , 10700 -10986 , 47624. Those are the ports needed for the standard TCP/IP games. However when playing on the Zone it does not work. So my problem lies in the fact I need to know what ports the MS Zone uses so I can open them. Also note that I do run a firewall but when playing I turn it off. ( I know being behind the router I do not need one, but my motto is better safe than sorry.)
I will try checking for one of you on the Zone one night to try and fix this situation.

Hello, I was just wondering what a few things meant like the following:
open/closed games
DD/FLY
hit and run
boxes
and all those other acronyms describe what game is what type.

Most of those 'topic's' are in fact rules in the actual game.
open/closed games ( or should I say maps )
Open : is where you can reach opponant without having to break through some sort of border guard.
Closed : Mainly where you HAVE to break through a border to reach opponant.
DD/Fly : DD= Dimension door ( lvl 5 spell ) most map(s) have this spell disabled, go figure
This goes for fly as well
Hit and run : also known as H/R ( H&R ) , DOH...I have MY oppinion on that topic, others have theirs. But I think , if you look more closely on this board, you'll find TONS of topics about this.
Boxes : Pandoras Box ( some are put in on maps to boost your hero(s) stats. But in some cases you need to know, what is in that particular box. ie. if it contains 15k's of experience points you might wanna concider taking it with your main hero instead of a random scout. On random maps it can contain all from lvl 1 spells to creatures.
Hmmm, that last part I dont really understand, but if you mean looking at a random room info, it might say : ToH/WW/MaH..etc. version 3.2 1500+
The first thing : ToH/WW/MaH = Tournaments
Version 3.2 = What the player(s) version of the game are.
1500+ ( just an example ) = Points in different tournaments, or that player will only play with you IF you have 1500+ points.
I could write and write about this , but I am sure you can figure some from these small details.

I have problems conecting to the zonegames
I followed your guide but still cant join a game
if I host I just see roe and not armageddonsblade so i cant choose random
and then ( is there an end to the problems this guy has) it freaks out and jumps back to the zone anyway
i have disabled the firewall, reloaded, uppdated the game but no luck and now you are my last hope....

@aafurbury to me it seems like you 'only' have roe, and NOT AB installed on your HD!?
I have SOD, and IF I install AB, it messes things up
BUT, if I am wrong in my last statement, just zm/mail me, I am daily online to have a look Maybe we can sort out your problems then im in CET timezone.

Ports??? What are hell are you talking about? All ports that you need for the game are open by default. Firewalls can block them but most will ask you if you wannna do so. I dont think that you problems with ports. It could be comparability . Say winXP are kind harsh on the heroes games and a lot of ppl have problams. Same for the ppl who can’t play arm blade or SOD. If you can do ROE and cant play the other expansion that means its something wrong with your game. Or exe files.
I would reinstall game in that case.

Hi this one should prolly be on top all the time...there are always people out there that need help and yes im 1 of them
I´ve tried to get my heroes3 to work in arcade and zone for almost a year now but the problem is in zone i get the message that the game is not installed and in gamespy i get this mess: "There was an error that prevented the game from being launched. check to make sure the game is properly installed and that the path is correct"
ive tried reinstalling the game several times and in different folders (both in programs and direkt on the hd)
i have also browsed for it in the gamespy options and its found!
i got the original cd:s and both the expansions so ive tried with 1.4 2.2 and 3.2 nothing works...
i have also talked to several of the zone support guys and
one of them had heroes3 as his favourite game but none of them could help me...
just curious if its anyone out there with the same problem i dont expect it to be solved
ps. ip games is no problem for me to play just tired of it cuz you you have to teach 50% of the players you meet how to play ip games
