It's looking quite balanced in Project Nevada at least... tried to blow up a Very Hard lock with C4 but my explosives skill was too low. When you equip an explosive, containers and doors that can be blown up are highlighted in green.

I love these mods that integrate themselves flawlessly into the gameplay.

Hunted down an outcast ranger and got his armor... nice. With this realistic battle damage mod, insects and stuff can't even scratch you when you have decent armor.

I thought I was invincible for a while but then a power armored dude with a gauss rifle shot right through my armor and 1-hit-killed me.

Deathclaws also don't give a **** about my armor, though those can be quite easily killed since they don't have armor themselves... 1 grenade shell to the face is enough. In vanilla NV you'd have to use like 30.

Rad X works yeah.

Yo Ad, what mods do you use in New Vegas?

Sounding from your description of realistic damage mod I might want to pick it up finally.

For combat?

Lesse...

WME - Weapon Modification Expansion
EVE - Essential Visual Enhancements
Project Nevada
Increased Weapon Jamming
New Vegas Realistic Battle and Dynamic Combat

This is the description of the last one:

Quote:
This is a simple mod that makes armor and weapon interactions more realistic and gives weapons more punch. Now there is a big difference between someone that is unarmored and someone that is in power armor. It would be nigh impossible to take out someone in power armor with small arms pistol fire, and someone unarmored will be extremely vulnerable to all kinds of attacks.

I am an engineer, and I decided on the numbers thorough some reasonably complex math to visualize how the progression slope for combat looks as compared to vanilla new vegas. The damage and armor numbers are based on that for the most part with some tweaks for playability.

This will make combat less forgiving but more realistic as far as the effects of armor and weapons go.

Most armors have had their DT values as much as doubled and skill plays a bigger role in weapon damage now. All weapons do more realistic damage but skill is important for being able to get the most out of any particular weapon.

The result of these changes is that unarmored opponents become quite vulnerable, with hollow point rounds simply shredding their soft flesh and heavily armored opponents becoming much more formidable, just as they really would be. Armor piercing ammo has been adjusted to be in line with new armor values and larger caliber AP ammo is very effective against heavily armored opponents (and you).

This makes for a highly dynamic combat experience that can change in an instant and have much more to do with character skill and having the types of weapons appropriate for a particular armor.

This mod makes armor matter, so don't forget to bring protection as it will drastically increase survivability.

Keep in mind that you will need the right tool for the job to bring down tougher enemies. A Deathclaw with shrug off small arms fire and you don't want to bring a pea shooter to try and take on a robot sentry, as it wont do any damage.

Project Nevada also includes some quite nifty combat changes... such as locational damage... enemy in power armor but no helmet? Sucks to be him, hollow point round to the brain.

EVE is mostly visual changes though lately it's introduced some changes to missiles and stuff as well... its Mini-nuke explosion is a thing of beauty.

WME integrates with Project Nevada and EVE perfectly, giving you a much wider range of weapon modifications.

Increased Weapon Jamming does what it says, creates some really "OH ****" moments if you don't keep your weapons in top condition, and even then the weapons might jam anyway. It's the wasteland after all, perfect condition weapons are a thing of utmost rarity.

All of these work perfectly together or have compatibility patches for each other.

I also use a whole lot of other mods but that's the general combat stuff I use.

I'm playing Laser Defense 2 (www.muchgames.com). Hm With over 10 years the same folks are the chat. Ok I remember again the strategy. The best is the first row is a Laser Beam, then Change Beam, Disruptor Beam, RailGun, Inverter Beam, Radar Beam and Fission Beam. Change the second row on the contrary, then Fission Beam, Radar Beam, etc. Updates and additional speed to RailGun and Radar Beam. More power to RailGun, Radar Beam and Beam Fission. A few additional range to RailGun and two small squares of all updated. 8-9 lines of sufficient levels of up to 120 but the game for about 4 hours. IMPOSSIBLE!

Speedboat Attack, I'm rusty! A long list, but best record is Manchurian Run 02:10 and lap time is 00:42. If you have the same Russian game, let us know your best time.

Got the Lonesome Road DLC for New Vegas since I liked the mods that were made for it ^^

Quite enjoyable... I like the scenery. Wish the Mojave had more places like this.

And **** it's hard! Every guy can one-hit me hahah... and these crazy red basterds throw grenades all over the place... need to scout ahead real carefully and set up intricate mine traps to survive...

Tri-Beam Laser Rifle... my worst enemy.

Red Glare is indeed quite useful, but if I don't manage to kill or cripple them all at once I get overwhelmed.

I use my bionic eye implant to scout ahead with thermal vision, and then use my stealth field implant to lay down my traps without getting noticed.

I also got other nifty implants... like my lung implant that lets me sprint longer and breathe underwater, and my Kinetic Accelerator implant that lets me reload and fire faster during Bullet Time. I can also charge up my hand with an EMP implant and throw a wave of energy to disable energy weapons and security measures ^^

Yay for mods.

Only expanded on New Vegas' already present implant system

After all, we already had stuff like Monocyte Breeder systems and intelligence enhancers and stuff.

Didn't bother with them either until I awesomized them.

Eh, I don't really bother with balance that much. I'm more about immersion, getting the feeling of living in a post-nuclear wasteland just right.

Yeah man, but your character is a total Adam Jensen with all those implants

I think I'll reinstall NV and check if all those realistic power armor mods have gotten out of their periods.

You say it like it's a bad thing, Adam Jensen is super-badass ^^

It's integrated nicely with the world though... my implants require energy cells and stuff. Doesn't detract from the Fallout feeling, imo.

I couldn't get Powered Power Armor to work with Project Nevada without crashing... think Nevada has been upgraded too quickly for the compatibility to catch up.

PPA is awesome though... with it installed you can really understand why you NEED training to use the armor

When ya start to feel like you're being cooked alive inside the suit due to removing the temperature safety restrictions in battle (so you can kick ass without giving a ****)... and then you just activate your Liquid Nitrogen cooling system and go "OH YEAH?! **** YOU!" and blast that fiend b****'s face off.

Bullet Time and Sprint are 10x more enjoyable ways to use your action points on than auto-easy-mode VATS.
