He shot himself in the foot when he sank the new Iranian destroyer off Sri Lanka with crew
Now the Navy is a thousand miles from Iran because they wouldn't dare
long-range bombing and missiles is all they can do
so the strait is totally controlled by Iran, and they will ship oil as they please, unless he's stupid enough to start attacking tankers

Iran attacking its Gulf neighbors tells you more than you need to know about its ideology. It proves the point that it is a direct threat to more than just its own population but to the people around it as well.
But hey... go ahead and attack ships in the Straight. Completely screw over any international sympathy you might have gained. There should be a constitutional monarchy back in place within the year, then Iran will be a sane country, the way that it used to be before the coup.
I expect when that day comes, the current thugs in charge will be treated much more gently than what they would have shown to their opponents.

What are you talking about ? Those Gulf neighbors are belligerent and providing logistic and supplies for the illegal aggression carried by the USA and Israel, they deserve every bit of missile Iran has. It is called retaliation.

It's called "we like it in power, we've nothing left to lose, since our people will kill us, if they can get a hand on us, so we will try to make it as difficult for you as possible and try to HURT you."
It's somewhat ironic that Trump and Netanjahu have made the same mistake Putin made - biting off a bigger chunk than they can chew. The difference seem to be that all the Russian brass made sure to assure Putin that the Russian army would blow Ukraine away in no time, while all the US brass told Trump what an extraordinarily bad idea an attack on Iran would be.
Might well be that Netanjahu forced Trump's hand somewhat.
As they in my part of Germany, put those four (Russian, US, Iranian and Israeli top governmental echelons, put them all into a big sack, take a big bat and whack on it - it will always hit the right one.
That doesn't mean, that sack wouldn't have space for other so-called "people's representatives" or multi-billion-dollar entrepreneurs.

I don't know if Putin believed his military would function but you can bet he is relying on the same mechanism of shortened attention span for forever wars.
The US+IL/IR damage ratio exceeds 99% but even then they cannot win because, as the korean war showed, numbers matter when finesse breaks down

Yeah. Because other Gulf nations need Iran's permission before they are allowed to say who is or is not allowed to keep a base in their country.
Sort of like how Estonia has the audacity to allow NATO troops on its soil without Russia's permission. I mean, really. The nerve of these people.
It is just a total coincidence that all of these countries are okay with US bases on their soil. It is not because Iran has been actively seeking the demise of all of their governments or anything. Even the UAE's fencesitting seems to have changed to a hard stance against these degenerates.
Iran has zero friends. The fact is, the USA is (and always has been) the lesser evil. Once this dumpster regime is finally gone, the ENTIRE Gulf will be better off by a vast margin. Oh, and also the added perk of Iranian kids not getting machine gunned to death by their own government. Iranians here have been celebrating because change is coming.

It is not about allowing bases, which is not a motive in itself to retaliate - Iran didn't attack those countries before, but to be attacked from those bases, which makes the country hosting them a belligerent.
If Nato attacked indeed Russia FROM it's Estonia bases, Russia would retaliate in Estonia, first. That's how proxy wars work, you eliminate the closest threat.

As if Iran has even the slightest chance of achieving any of that.
What they are supposed to do - the respectable and humane thing - is to SURRENDER and allow a new leadership to take its place.
But they won't, because they already know that most of their population wants to execute them. So... no point surrendering. Just let the country burn apparently. Anyway, Israel will just keep finding their leaders and killing them. Meanwhile, Iran has no navy and their ability to launch drones is crumbling.

I think that it's completely wrong to call the belligerents by their countrys's names. It's not"Iran" that is at war, not Israel, not the USA (and not Russia). Instead it's those in power that play their games for land, money, power and glory. Trump and his cronies in power are more like the regime that was the reason for why the current Iranian regime got into power in the first place. They behave like the kings of old times, waging war for their personal benefit - or, like in Netanjahu's case, to stay in power and avoid having to justify themselves for their crimes. They lift "insider trading" to a whole new level.
As I said a couple of months ago, the only result of Trump's (and Netanjahu's) posing against Iran will be that the Iranian population will suffer.
See, EVERYONE thinking halfway straight, would have known that once you declare war on Iran (which is, what Trump and Netanjahu did), you have to FINISH THINGS FAST: Bombing raids, missile attacks and then paratrooper landings to kill the complete Iranian leadership. All hope, the mullahs would give up were crushed when they started to kill protesters - from that point on it was clear they would do anything - ANYTHING - to stay in power, and that includes destroying their own country ny incinerating their own oil and gas wells.
So they screwed this up - first by inciting the Iranian population to go to the streets and let themselves be massacred, and then by this quarter-assed attack that does nothing except fill the pockets of a couple of people profiting from the not so vague vagueries of the financial markets.
At this point Trump and Netanjahu have just two options left: they can unilaterally declare peace and stop things or repeat Irak and go the full mileage, and BOTH options suck. This is incidentally basically the same two options Putin had exactly four years ago - and my prediction is that like Putin they won't back down, nor commit to what the Nazis called Total War (which actually mwant, stop pretending to live in peace at home), because both options suck.
Since landing on the horns of this dilemma was clear from the getgo, the responsible parties should be removed from power because of stupidity, greed and utter lack of ability - they are not fit for ruling.
Of course that won't happen either.
Zelensky has said it: we ARE already in WW 3. He's probably right.

That "stooge" has done an incredible job of keeping his country alive for 4 years now. There's a reason why Putin wants him gone.
And it's not a few million JEWS who are affording it - it's only rougly 3/4 of the Israeli population that are Jews - it's the government of Israel in league with the government of the US - plus a few assorted corporations and billionaires, of course.
But they are just throwing a couple stones at each other, at this time.

"Iran" is just a lazy way of saying "the Iranian regime."
There is an ORGANIZED replacement for the current regime ready to go. It just hasn't happened yet cause the bombing campaign is still going on and Israel is still killing top leaders (and their replacements).
I am assuming Trump is being told by his generals to drop actual troops onto Kharg Island and occupy it.

Yeah, and that "replacement" has been elected by the Iranians, right?
Not to mention that with the current "war effort" of throwing a couple of stones there won't be accomplished anything except increasing the general turmoil - and of course prices for more or less the whole world for more or less every product, which in turn will increase the pressure on Israel and the US to actually DO something to stop that nonsense. Kharg Island won't change anything except the willingness of the Iranians in power to close the Strait completely. In case you didn't notice, they don't care about the damage they do and to whom they are doing it.
Fact is, the whole thing is a major screw-up that should be enough to finish the responsible leaders and force them to resign - provided the US and Israel would still be ruled by democratic governments. Correct me, if I'm wrong, but last time I checked the president of the United States CANNOT simply attack another country - congress must enable him to do so and that didn't happen. So Trump - shouldn't be in power anymore because he broke his oath to keep to the constitution and to make sure to protect it. He isn't doing that. He shouldn't be in office anymore.
Same thing is true for Israel. First they massacred the Palestinians. Then they attacked Iran and now they have invaded Lebanon.
I mean - is there any difference between Putin, Trump and Netanjahu?

Of course there is. Putin was the first one to successfully put a term and say NO to the constant military expansion of the USA. Hadn't the USA meddle in Ukraine elections and push its bases further and further, there would had never been any war in Ukraine. Basically, what Trump is doing right now is giving full legitimacy to Putin actions. When you give a such powerful military to a teenager, nobody is safe and preventive actions are necessary.
Remember what USA does each time, first it pulls a straight lie about dictators and how they kill their people, without any contradiction or nuance allowed on media, then it destroys that area, which will never recover. Coincidentally, there is always oil and/or gas in. A lot of.
As for Israel, there is no need to say anything more. A terrorist government, the most internationally condemned country, no fixed borders and in constant illegal expansion, unlimited support from USA.
Two thugs.

Well ... no.
You, too, mistake a specific government with a country. Russia isn't a democracy anymore - and not for some time. It's not RUSSIA who has attacked Ukraine, it's PUTIN. Same with Israel. While seettling expansion has been going on for some time now (as always, when you don't nip things in the bud, there comes the point when people try to grab EVERYthing) this escaltion wouldn't have been possible if the Israeli government led by Netanjahu wouldn't have faced serious charges, so they took the chance and switched to war, postponing things indefinitely. And Trump is outside the constitutional boundaries as well.
Now, if you believe that Putin attacked the Ukraine because of "NATO expansion" - nonsense. He lost Finland and Sweden to NATO immediately after starting that war, so that was a major failure. Also, Ukraine isn't the only ex-USSR country Putin dug his claws into. Plus, the US don't decree that countries join NATO. That's decided by the governments of those countries. Is the actual government of a country always a mirror of what the population wants? Has it ever been?
The thing is, NATO is a DEFENSE alliance, not a tool of the USA, and you could see the effect now, with Iran. NATO isn't active and NATO doesn't follow Trump.
So. No difference anymore. What will happen, if the Chinese exploit the situation and increase pressure on Taiwan? What happens, if the Chinese DON'T? Wouldn't that leave China as the only reasonable major power?
