Creature&Faction Editor (&more?)

This is about a many-mentioned point: A feature implemented in the game to create creatures, Heroes, Factions. I have experienced voices against this stuff, yet I don't really see why. At last, it's like modding the game, but the game has this option IN ITSELF, ergo: anyone can do it very easily. Since I never got to modding, I would favor that quite much!

The Editors Featured here shall work pretty much like the map editor, yet maybe all editros would be linked, like the duel preset editor is available from the H5 Map Editor (which I elseway, btw, find disgusting^^)

Creature Editor:
This editor allows you to create your own creatures, following certain rules. You can save, load (to do changes) and delete the creatures made here, of course. You can also copy-load a creature, to keep the old, but make a new, altering one.

When you make a creature, the very first thing you have to choose is it's tier. The tier determines how many Creation-points you have for the creature, as well as base growth & costs (which can alter with other choosable things).
Next, you are to choose wether the creature is mounted or not, which also is a very basical choice.

The following step is the choice of the creature race, and it's quite important. Some races cost CP, since they come with abilities. For a mounted creature, you must choose a race for the mount, too. Some Races are by default Large, others small. For some (mostly beasts), you can choose the size). The size is indicated here by L,S & C (for choosable). The size can also be altered for the other races, but this costs quite some CP, since it would be a major change (you can, however, create nice creatures that way, like Elf-Giants, or such).
Here are the races for choice, ordered as I would order them in Game

Humanoids
-Human - S
-Elvish - S

-Imp - S
-Grunt/Gog - S
-Hound - C
-Succubus - S

Elemental
-Fire - C
-Water - C
-Earth - C
-Air - C
Undead
-Skeleton
-Cadaver
-Ghostly
[Note: When choosing undeads, you also shoose another race as "SHAPE". Except of Large or not, the shape usually has little or no effects on abilties, and such, but it roughly determines how the creature will look like. Not all races are choosable as Shape. ...you can have undead creature riding living mount or vice versa. Some undead bonuses will not apply then, yet!]

...just to show^^

The Race chosen, you proceed to the next steps. Here comes quite some difference through the races, with  different optins available or not, depending on the races. Basically, you can directly alter the stats (as given basic by race&tier) here, and add abilities. Both costs points. Races AND Tiers usually have maximum stats, different for each of them, and abilities can be FAVORED, POSSIBLE, RARE or FORBIDDEN.
FAVORED abilities cost half their ordinary CP.
POSSIBLE abilities cost their ordinary CP.
RARE abilities cost twice their ordinary CP.
FORBIDDEN abilities can't be chosen directly (like a flying human). Unfortunately, often many abilities are forbidden. BUT: you can get abilities by different manner than directly choosing them:
Soem abilites are bound to equipment, which you will also choose here. For example, to choose "shooter" you must, for most races, give a ranged weapon as equipment.
Additional to equipment, you can buy training-boxes, sometimes the only way to get to abilites, but they cost good CP and come with otehr abilites. For examaple, if you want a race which is not a natural shooter to shoot without a certain equipment, you can buy "Arcane Battle"-Training and buy for them shooting together with Casting.
Some abilites get POSSIBLE (or FAVOURABLE or RARE) through equipment. So when having made a creature shooter, you can give it "No Range Penalty", which would have bin FORBIDDEN before.

I think this is quite easy for the general idea.

The Image of the creature, of course, alters whith your changes. CHoosing Fly will give many races wings. You will see armor & weapons. And of course the race determines the look of the creature quite much. But also, when having finally decided on all stats and abilities, you could alter the look soem more, choosing between some for each race&equipment. For example, you can change the skin & hair color, the face, soemtimes the hair, etc. This will make each of your creatures look unique.

Faction Editor:

Creating a faction would not be much more difficult than creating creatures or heroes. There would probably be other restrictions than points, though.
First, you decide for your faction's name and the name of it's town.
Then, you start with the faction build-up in the fitting screen.
You can define the buildings, set the magic schools that should be used, the war machines available in blacksmith, etc.

Units
You choose your lineup of units from UNSIGNED units, meaning untis which are not allready belonging to a different faction. If you want to double-use creatures, or at least have very similar ones, copy-load those. You can, of course, also go to the CE from here and edit or create the units directly for the faction.
The lineup, however, has restrictions:
For 7 tiers.
You must have 3 large & for small creatures.
You may not ahve more than 3 flyers or shooters or casters, and at least 2 units which are neither.

Hero-Class
You can choose any UNSIGNED hero class or create a new one directly (see teh HEROE EDITOR).

Buildings
For this section, you HAVE points, called BUILDING POINTS. You spend them to get buildigns with better effect or cheaper buildings.
Restricting buildings, liek the magic guild, gives BP, a does making them more expensive.
You can begin to work on teh dwellings, when you have decided for a line-up, not before. The Buildings will have a base-cost, depending on the creature and it's strength and cost. For example (still going with the OLD ressource system, for wishful thinking issues^^) a unti costs mercury than the building will cost mercury, too.
The special buildings, except the creature boosters & ressource silo, which I donÄt consider special, but jsut specific, are restricted to 3.
The basic buildings have base BP-costs, which would only change if you alter their ingame costs.

Too Complex IMO, just give us a load of extra creatures and allow us to switch them around.

^^but Why the hell shouldn'T we get the optionto create or own creatures? If you find it too complex - just don't use it^^

I guess you forgot to add the pure dragons.

Anyway, I think they should be careful if implementing this. Specially lore-related. I mean, if there are no playable mermaid so far in Ashan, adding them just to have more creatures available could be not that good, but otherwise it could, really, but with some caution not to fill the feature with a lot of things we've never seen before. Another point, is that some categories could be reduced to different body type (maybe the lion, wolf, and other beasts could be the same category with different body choice) or skin color (like the elves), and that coupled with more changes in body features, effects and so on, along with the actual mechanics would create an awesome array of possibilities (and that, of course, is what you mean, so I'm kinda being positively repetitive here ^^). So, these are just suggestions, to maybe make it look yet more simple.

As for the Faction Editor, I'll wait to see you ideas and then point out some of mine too

True, but then you've got the issue where it would play hob with both multiplayer and campaigns, unless the creatures were limited to that one map.

@don: ?What is what point? The point is you can edit much more content of the game thant jsut maps & duel presets. And if you don't want, you don't have to do it^^

@maken: I indeed did.
However, I just wanted to show some possible races, and those are here all given by what I would want if I created H6 (or 7 or whatever ) and scrapping Ashan would be my first action^^
I put as many races I coudl think of to show the diversity. I agree that elves would not be necessary to split.

@matt: As a bit discussed in the gameplay features wish thread, it could be done rather easily imo. The creatures would not be added to given scenarios, and certainly not to campaigns. For multiplayer, the host decides which creatures on his plate he wants to use. the others  can look up those creatures and agree or disagree, and if they disagree, they won't join the game. If some are not with the other players, they are sent before the game starts. So the creatures are not limited, but on the other hadn, each map has a limitation on which creatures it uses: only those existent when the map was created. And of course you can afterwards define which creatures are used.

Ability to adjust and create objects as mods or at least for specific maps is really something I think should be there. Seems for HoMM games it should not be hard. I don't ask for modeling tools, just tools in the map editor to adjust or copy data of objects.

That looks really simple, they really should do that.

And, just for the record, I was for some 10 seconds "What the... I didn't wrote that message..." then realized I do not own the avatar

...tools wouldn't be so difficult to make imo and make things SO much easier to alter^^
