Very nice, are there any other units that will allow the player to make decisions during the placement as well? (no need to say any names though )

Okay, you CAN'T deny they got inspired by the Zerg Queen from Starcraft 2 after reading the descriptioin and looking at the Spider form. xD

But I LOVE IT! H6 Necropolises loooks like the best Necropolis out of all Heroes towns so far and this unit is a million times better than the Bone Dragon!

Not if they design it before they have a chance to actually look at the Zerg Queen. But yea, I can see some similarities.

The image of a spidery lady has been around for centuries and we are arguing who stole what in the past few years. Nice.

awesome, best looking champion by far. hydra like creature I suppose.

I suppose the spider form will be for battles and the lady form for cinematics?

No, both forms are usable in fights. Why should a creature have a "cinematic" form ?

The first thing I thought of when I saw the Fate Spinner was the Driders from RA Salvatore's Drizzt's novels (forgotten realms).  That's exactly how he describes them.

could have been a form she uses to talk diplomacy with other factions, to not look too scary.

Let's compare this artwork of Namtaru...

to this concept art of the Zerg Queen...

And then the description of the Fate Spinner fits exactly the function of the Zerg Queen in Starcraft 2 plus they mentioned that game a lot.

But I don't see the point of making a big deal out of this, I am not accusing them for stealing or copying since I think this is a huge step forward from the Bone Dragon.

So you mean that both look like a giant spider with a humanoid front body?

I'm getting more and more excited about H6, those artworks are very very nice.

Now THAT is a Level 7 deserving of the title. Blows the lame-ass Bone Dragon from H5 out of the water.

I can't stress how much I love the change in art style; H5's cartoony warcraft-y graphics really grated on my nerves sometimes. I also wouldn't really think this has been stolen from the Zerg Queen in any way; they're both drawing on a combination between an arachnid and a female humanoid shape and they aren't that similar.

I think she looks like the new zerg Queen AND zerg Banelings, she has the same sort of bulbous green growths.
I actually do think the artists were influenced by it, they mention having played and enjoying Starcraft II (which is completely natural if you're a human being), and I have a feeling they tracked the development also. For game developers looking at this title and it's development cycle is highly interesting, being perhaps the most highly anticipated game since 1998.
Not to mention, being a smashing success with ludicrous sales, reviews and popularity all round.
Taking cues from things that work is generally a good idea. (that is different from plagiarism and so far HVI has neatly avoided that (unlike HV's Dungeon))

Nothing wrong with it though, they came up with a completely different spin on it.
Taking similarities to Driders just feels "unfortunate" to me.
Since HV have Necromancers been strongly been associated with spiders, something like this was just inevitable.
But again, their unique spin on it makes this completely ignorable.
Yay for (as far as popular media are concerned) highly obscure mythological figures!

Well it are actually women with a spider lower body.

The first of those creatures around were the driders who came to life in 1981 in Monster manual II of D&D.

So their trails came from there, there aren't any monsters from mythology that had the lower body of a spider, so D&D took the idea from Centaurs.

Arachne the cursed woman in greek mythology became a full spider, some series and games actually made her into a drider-like creature but those were inspired by driders not by the spider-queen of greek mythology.

Pretty sure the inspiration for all that originates from an actual spider called black widow (including Arachne's story). If you search for "spider queen" in google images you'll find other images of women and spiders combined. It's quite a stretch to attribute this to Starcraft when H5 already linked Necromancers to spiders, and when that Sveltana pic came out, several people immediately said the spider lady is an avatar of Asha. Most likely it was the quickest new unit idea the developers came up with.

Do I need to mention that this unit is awesome ;p

Best unit so far because it is not only unique in desing but it is the first creature in Heroes history with 2 forms. Wow. Epic cool.

You can basically have them both in your army... interesting combo...

Inferno was my fav but now it is Necro ;P
