Valve's Half Life

I have always been a big fan of the Half Life universe, and the characters in it.
Especially the mystic G-man, and 2nd Gordon Freeman..

The story about the universe is good, catchy, and fun to play out.
Unfortunatly there is a huuge whole between Half Life and Half Life 2 we don't get to be a part of, we just have to read it, but thats good enough, cuz to really understand the Combine's part of the story, you will have to read the half life story.

And there is not much time left on the release of Half Life 2 Episode 3 and Portal 2.
And all we know is that the Borealis Ship we heard about in Episode 2 contains something from Arpeture Science which was the company hwo created the Hand held portal device. Could we be sp lucky to maybe get the Portal Gun in Half Life E3, or is it just a tiny kind of Easter Egg/Reference..
All i know is that i can't wait much longer to get the end of the Half Life story (Unless they continue with Half Life 3)..

----

Do you like the games of Half Life and Portal?

Half Life (The groundbreaking game of the year back in 1998)
Half Life: Blue Shift (Same story, but seen trough the eyes of a security guard in Back Mesa)
Half Life: Opposing Force (Same story but seen trough the eyes of the a soldier send to kill Gordon)(Fact: Voted one of the best expansion games ever released)
Half Life 2 (After the portal storms, this game takes place, and shows us the fantastic source engine)
Half Life Source (Upgraded graphics and bug fixed version of HL1)
Half Life 2 Episode 1 (Tells us what happens to Alyx after the Explosion)
Portal (Released with the Orange Box. Voted one of the most original games in a loong time, plus the Cube and the Robot got awards for best characters)
Half Life 2 Episode 2 (Continues the saga, and reveals the Borealis and Arphature Science, and tells us about the escape of city 17)

Now we just need HL2 E3 and Portal2 to finish the saga..

I do have to mention that there is a mod which i also awaits the release of. Black Mesa Project..
A Half Life 1 version in the Source Engine (And it seems like its becoming a far superior mod)

Half Life Timeline (Story)
Black Mesa Mod

wasn't it Valve that recently teamed up with activision-blizzard?
probably to help with blizzards new next-gen mmo which, knowing blizzard, is probably coming out in 10 years at the earliest
im guessing its gonna be based around e-sport, mmofps

I played all of them, but didn't finished blue shift. I like how they constantly introduce new ideas in the games. in half life, when you get out of the compound and tanks and helicopters are waiting for you... in half life 2, when you storm the prison with antlion, or when you fight zombis in the dark... and episode 2 had some epic (and quite hard) moments

Nope, Valve just took DotA, nothing more.

For actual business they are going with EA and Sony.

Actually we don't know their story, just that they are lead by giant elephants with telekinesis and that live in bodybags

EDIT: Oh, whats Vavle?Never heard of that?

Fauch# Blue Shift wasnt that good, so you didn't miss anything.
Yeah, and i actually like how Half Life 1 and the expansions is linked together ;p I mean, you see Gordon Freeman 2 times in Opposing Force, and some of the unexplained happenings in HL1 gets xplained in Blue Shift and Opposing Force ;p...
And they shure is creative in gameplay development!

DarkShadow# Woops, i ment Valve. :S And about the story, i know that the site is just one persons guess, but i think he got it right ;p
But then again, it would be awesome if Half Life 2 Episode 3 connected all the lose ends. And it would be cool if we get to kill the so called telekinetic elephants ;p (Advicers)

yeah, blue shift seemed less good.

opposing force was also less good than half life

beaten ravenholm with just the gravity gun. fast zombies were annoying as hell. how are you supposed to fight 5 of them with the gravity gun? had to do a suicidary jump instead of waiting for the elevator
kind of did a jump of faith in the mine too lol, there were multiple headcrabs biting me, no time to think lol.

I don't get why the fast headcrabs are as hard to kill with the gravity gun than the big black ones? I hate them, they are fricking hard to hit (the fast ones, black ones are easy)

Less good yes, but still close to ;p I really like the new weapons, and the difficulty of the game is higher than the original..

I remember how to beat the fast zombies near the elevator! ;p Just bring all kinds of heavy stuff, saws and barrels up to the roof, and beat them..
And in the underground i just gave up.. Fast headcrabs are anoying as hell without a gun..
But still, i can't deal with spiders, so i get freaked out everytime i hear or see the black crabs :S

well, I had no heavy stuffs against the fast zombies, and anyway, in a small room against 5 of them, you can barely manage to grab an object and even less to throw it. but I killed all of them 1 by 1 a bit later, where I could see them coming from far.

in the mine I just ran lol. black crabs are easy, unless they take you by surprise. 3 blows with the gravity gun, like other headcrabs, but at least, they are easy to hit because they are slow.
what I don't understand is why you can't grab them, since you can attack them with the gravity gun.

No heavy stuff :S And a lethal jump down? Thats a risk ;p If i remember correctly there is a damn BlackCrap Zombie at the bottom..

Running is always an option ;p.. I'll have to try it, i need the Achievment .. But thoose fast crabs is, well, fast!

It could be awesome if you could grab the crabs with the Zero Point Energy Field Gun , which reminds me about another question i have to ask..
Am i the only one, hwo thinks the game sucks ALOT after you acchieve the Blue Gravity Gun? (The start in EP1 is fun though)

I did the jump, lost about 50 HPs. still better than getting killed lol. and I have the achievement, that part with the fast zombies was the hardest to me.

black zombies are no problems either. because they are slow too. I 1st take care of the 3 black crabs they can throw. (except this time, because there were 5 fast zombies after me lol)
at the beginning I was also very afraid of black crabs, but actually, they deal very little damage. in another hand, a horde of fast crabs can kill you fast...

actually, I think the first level in the citadel is quite fun since there is a lot of enemies, but it's really easy after having fought all the striders... the last level kinda sucks, it's short and easy. the 2 helicopters in nova prospekt are like 10 times harder...

The helicopter boss in episode 2 was pretty cool too from what I remember.

Yup, blackies will get you down, but you gain the lost life again, allmost.

Alot fo enemies, but no guns.. Only that damn gravity gun and combine energy balls.
But the last level was not even close to Nihiliath (HL1)

You mean the place where you use the heli's own bombs to blast it?
Then, yeah, nice level!

you can kill combine troops super easily with the super gravity gun. did you think you had to use energy balls?

nihilanth was also far from being the best level in half life, even if it's still way better than void energy.

the best level in the original was surface tension. then interloper and lambda reactor core.

in half life 2 they are almost all good in their own way (except void energy lol). too bad the vehicles are so weird to control, you want to turn left it turns right, wtf? that's such a pain when you are trying to fight an helicopter with the hydroplane.

episode 1 is much easier than what I remembered, I could be able to beat it firing no bullets but one I think I'm near the end of the hospital.

Yeah i know, but i wanted to blast them with grenades and shotgun.. It just gets boring with the Gravity Gun after a while. But i admit it is fun to grab them in the foot and throw them down.

True, true, but still, at least Nihiliath is a boss, and he is annoying with his teleport thing. Its nothing compared to the 3 barnacles in the rocket test chamber though ;p That was great..

They could have made vehicle control much much better! But i don't remember it that hard to control?
But Void Energy? (Can't remember what it is?)

What? You just run past every unit? (How do you avoid the zombines in the dark parkinglots while waiting for the damn elevator? Running arround in the dark with a flare and flashlight?) You will have to take down the Helicopter and the Strider ;p
(And Episode 1 is by the way too easy even if you use your guns)

-----
EDIT
-----

I'm currently creating our (The electricians workshop) storage, and at the moment Reactors for the lamps..
I noticed the greek letter lambda was written on every reactor.
So i asked my co-worker, and he said "Google it"..
So i did ;p

Info of the letter:

Lambda indicates the wavelength of any wave, especially in physics, electronics engineering, and mathematics.
Lambda indicates the radioactivity decay constant in nuclear physics and radioactivity. This constant is very simply related (by a multiplicative constant) to the half-life of any radioactive material.

and ofcourse i thought of Half-Life the game instantly
But still, i clicked the link!
Half-Life

It's not interesting to read, but i think its quite cool that the name and letter in the title is science, and it takes place in a scret science facility, and gordon is a scientist, and G-man drobs a nuclear warhead (Lambda) at black mesa..

Barnacle is the thing that hangs from the roof and has infinitely long tongue.I guess you mean the tentacle's that you have to destroy with the rocket?

Btw, when Breen used the teleporter in ending of hl2 I thought I would have to fight zillion waves of combine troops coming from there

there aren't that many actually.

I thought he was talking of the rocket room in the level "on a rail"

oh, it's not void energy but dark energy, the last level of HL2 (énergie vide in french)

you can use the crowbar, gravity gun, grenades and rocket launcher (maybe also grenade launcher and energy balls, but it isn't said) you just can't shoot bullets. the fact is, alyx is unkillable, so it makes things easier. I hide while whe kills combine soldiers.

Yes, ofcourse, my bad.. The room you need oxygen, fuel and power.
Like in HL1OF where you have to turn on "Valve and Gearbox"

I almost died in our benefactors lol. was trying to get successes with the grenades. could kill a dude with its own grenade (though, I played kamikaze and hurt myself too, because in my previous attempts they would always dodge the grenade)
but didn't manage to kill 5 of them with a single energy ball. I shoot in the middle of a group of 6-7 guys, kills 4 of them, and then the ball bounces in random directions hitting nothing

ok, I crossed the beach without touching the sand. it was tedious

lambda caches are hard to find, I find weapon caches all the time, but they are never counted as lambda caches it's stupid.

in duke nukem secret places were secret places. there were no lambda secret places.

I think I heard that several times.

well, for the beach, sometimes I reloaded because I wasn't sure whether I touched the sand or no.

I finished episode 1 with a single bullet. the last mission is a bit harder, sometimes I ran out of rockets and had to assault the combine soldiers with the crowbar lol

lambda secrets : weapon caches with a lambda sign on a wall

The sand rumbles when you touch it. But still, easy..

Yeah you have to grab every box you can find and hope for grenades and rockets and such.. But running towards a shooting enemy with a crowbar is risky if the combine got an AR2..

I have to ask you, whats the deal with g-man? Is he human, is he alien, is good or bad, whats his story? Everybody guesses but no real answer awaits the questions
