Well said. Plus, no matter how broken it was, it was a beautiful town. At least in my eyes, anyways.
Glad to see more people supporting Fortress! Maybe they'll at least throw us a bone in an expansion or something, anything with Gorgons, Basilisks and Lizardmen would sate my appetite.

I hope that as nagas cant be on a faction alone and swamp is the closest faction to water lizardman, gorgons and basilisks will come back!

I`ve also put Fortress as a favorite faction mostly because I have a lot of fond memories, me and a friend of mine have an ongoing dispute as to who is tougher Tzar or Mephala (factions to) … makes me want to play Fortress again … and I think I will.

Maybe you can elaborate on this Ceph, it was my impression that the poll was gonna be closing at which point I would remove the thread, but that has no happened ... or will they not look into the results anymore?

I'm not sure. We expected it to be closed by now. This is what the brand manager told me:

Agree it was beautiful in some strange way it will be cool to see the good old mighty gorgon , lizardmen , basilisk , wyvern , and even the gnoll ..

Yup, artwork in H3 Fortress was amazing, so atmospheric, absolutely loved it.

I loved the concept of Fortress but felt that the town needed some serious power upgrade, especially in the lower ranks. A crappy level 2 ranger, unimpressive level 1 were not my idea of a good beginning. Sure you could get Wyverns on the 3rd day but that edge is lost as the game progresses. Dragonflies were my favorite but they couldn't win the battle on their own, especially since range support was so little.
If they bring the Fortress in an expansion, I'd like the town to be jaw droppingly awesome. Something wicked specialty like tropical fever or something. :-P

I also loved Fortress in H3. Along with it's creature design, town design, music, and even the creature lineup was great (yes, Lizardman was a bad shooter etc. but if this faction will return in H6 there is no obstacle for the developers to change the stats of the units while STILL having this great lineup: Gnoll, Lizardman, Serpent Fly, Basilisk, Gorgon, Wyvern, and Hydra )
Anyone agrees with me?

The creatures all looked like they belonged in the hot, humid, swampy jungles of what's-it-called. I could live without the gnolls though. Perhaps replace them with snakes. Chance to poison and no retaliation. Gnolls were waaaaaay too "meh!"
And definitely give lizardmen double shoot. Or at least raise their level to 3 or 4 with a proper specialty (ebola virus arrows!!!).

They said that they may trow us some might and magic birthday present like a classic town that didnt make to heroes 4 or 5.

I agree Fortress was awesome. But I had absolutely no problem with Gnolls, Gorgons(Gorgons? you can't be serious they are one of the biggest reasons people love Fortress ) and Dragon Flies. Besides, the Gnolls weren't the only non-reptilian units because so were Gorgons...and that's good because it gave some diversity. However if the Troglodytes and Gnolls would be switched between Fortress and Dungeon its OK because both creatures suit both factions IMO

Fortress creatures weren't always the strongest, but I feel that it's often underestimated as a town. It's dirt-cheap and sturdy if nothing else.
Keep up those write-ins! And make sure you specify H3 Fortress, since those dwarves share the same name.
