Just ditch the lord. It will make it cliche and problematic to come up with another name.

How about something like Sharra?

True dat. I have a fetisch for "lord" names but it's so... ultimate... that it makes it difficult to come up with other names.

What does Sharra mean? I like the sound of it.

EDIT:

Night Magus -> Umbral Magus

Perhaps? I think it sounds pretty cool. And it even describes the unit a bit

Sharra? Whatever you want it to. I just came up with it.

Yeah I think I'm gonna go with those names. Gonna update the entire thing now.

I'll list the changes on this page so you don't have to read through the entire thing.

* * * UPDATE * * *

- Background story changed. Entire Moonrealm concept scrapped. The Coven now worships the Night-aspect of Sylanna and her creatures.
- Society section expanded somewhat. The Coven leadership is explained further.
- Now that the Coven doesn't deal with spirits as much, they are pretty much neutral towards Necromancy.
- Creature descriptions edited to fit new lore.
- The Assassin's Fade ability is changed. It now makes the Assassin completely immune to Ranged damage until its next turn.
- Wisps and Spook-Lights can now only cast in melee through their ability "Magic Strike"
Magic Strike (Activated Ability. The Wisp can cast basic curses, but can only do so by casting them in melee with an enemy. The Wisp may suffer retaliation when using Magic Strike)
- Dark Flocks now have Unlimited Retaliation.
- Spiritual ability removed from Phookas, Moon Phookas and Champion creatures.
- New Champion Creatures: Night Magus & Umbral Magus

Night Magus
Characteristics: High magic resilience, high physical damage.
Animations:
Attack: The Night Magus waves his arm towards the enemy and releases a stream of magical shrapnel into the enemy.
Lightning Sword: The Night Magus creates an orb of lightning in his palm, and then whips the arm upwards, conjuring a sword of pure lightning from it, and then brings it down upon his opponent with a loud thunderclap.
Description: Night Magi are among the most powerful allies the Coven. Extremely powerful though very hard to control, not many leaders are skilled enough to command these creatures, but the ones who do will be rewarded in full with the blood -or cinders- of their enemies.
Abilities: Small Creature, Teleportation, Shift (Activated Ability. The Night Magus targets an allied creature and swaps positions with it. If Shifting with a Large Creature, the Night Magus can choose the specific 1 of 4 tiles that it wishes to appear on. If shifting with a large creature, there must be room for the creature around the Night Magus.), Lightning Sword (Activated Ability. The Night Magus temporarily converts its Spellpower into Attack and strikes the enemy in melee with a blade of lightning. This ability cannot be used twice in a row. This ability is considered a physical attack.)

...

Umbral Magus
Appearance: The body is covered in a dark blue aura. Beard is white. A blue spiritual fire glows from its eyes.
Description: Even more terrifying than the mighty Night Magi, Umbral Magi are the greatest symbols of the Coven's might.
Abilities: Small Creature, Teleportation, Shift (Activated Ability. The Umbral Magus targets an allied creature and swaps positions with it. If Shifting with a Large Creature, the Umbral Magus can choose the specific 1 of 4 tiles that it wishes to appear on. If shifting with a large creature, there must be room the large creature around the Umbral Magus.), Lightning Sword (Activated Ability. The Umbral Magus temporarily converts its Spellpower into Attack and strikes the enemy in melee with a blade of lightning. This ability cannot be used twice in a row. This ability is considered a physical attack.), Shadow Feed (Passive Ability. The damage that the Umbral Magus inflicts on enemies is calculated as being 50% bigger when determining the points added to the Empowered Magic or Fatal Strike Gauges.)

And that's it for now. Will be adding the boss creature soon.

Yup. I like small champions, it's kinda cool imo.

His Lightning Sword is fricking huge when he conjures it though.

I'm thinking of him as a kind of support/melee creature.

He can, for example, suddenly shift his position with a Moon Phooka which makes the Rift Field weaken the enemies that was close to the Night Magus.

Combined with the new H6 morale mechanic that allows you to know if you get Good Morale before you act, it'll allow you to plan ahead and reposition your army very efficiently.

I'm still not buying support unit as last level, how are you going to counter other factions firepower?

It's not like he can't be used offensively as well.

1. Send forth Dark Flock to attack archers.
2. Shift them with Night Magus.

Now you've not only blocked the enemy's ranged weapon, you've also brought your most powerful melee unit right in its face and teleported your relatively fragile Dark Flock to safety.

If your Night Magus would've received Good Morale, he could've used his Lightning Sword on the archers in the same turn as well.

Yes yes, sounds like opposite to arch demons in H V but, are you still going to keep him as a support? All last level creatures have been the faction powerhouse since the beginning of the series, now we know what happens when they suck, the faction either has to have another powerstack, like skellies and bonedrags in H3.

Now if your last level is relatively weak in comparison, which stack is going to be the powerstack you build your tactics around? Werewolves? How does the maneuvering help werevolves?

Maybe you should make it able to switch any unit on the battlefield with each other?

But you're still missing a turn with your best unit.

Keep in mind that this isn't level 7 only drop to next 6 level powerstack, this is a drop from single champion to 3 elites. In theory the champion should be able to at least match the combined elites in power.

True... it isn't a single level-up from tier 6 anymore. It's hard to stop thinking that way perhaps.
I don't like thinking in "this is how it's always been and how it should be" kinda way and let it limit me, which perhaps put me in this situation.

I'm not too good at balancing, I normally just think about what I think is cool and include it.

Allowing Shift to switch places with enemy creatures would perhaps be interesting... I mean, it could allow you to basically gangrape enemy fragile units by shifting them into your other creatures' reach.

Sounds kinda overpowered but then again... you are sending your Night Magi to the enemy position as well.

Not too sure about that one actually.

Considering how most creatures in H6 seems to have like 4 or more special abilities we could always come up with some new abilities as well.

It's always complicated to balance an ability so that using it doesn't just make you feel that you've wasted an opportunity to attack...

I really appreciate your input. Glad to see that people are still interested in this plaything of mine, been a while since I started it.

EDIT:

* * * UPDATE * * *

- Night Magi and Umbral Magi's Shift tweaked. They can now attack after using Shift, provided that they are adjacent to an enemy creature after using the ability.

EDIT2:

What you thought I was done?

Just a small tweak. Got a bit bored of the Birds of Prey, didn't really think a flock of ravens was that scary anymore... now it's one big mean bird instead.

* * * UPDATE * * *

- Art, name and lore of former Birds of Prey changed.

Eye Catcher
Characteristics: High speed
Animations:
Attack: The Eye Catcher leaps towards the enemy, delivering a strong blow with its beak.
Description: A favourite pet of the Witch is the raven, and when enhanced with dark energies they become powerful allies of battle. Known as Eye Catchers both for their beauty and their tendency to rip the enemy's eyes out, the incredibly strong beak of the Eye Catcher causes great agony for its victim.
Abilities: Small Creature, Flyer, Pester (Passive Ability. Attacked units receive a -25% Attack and Defence penalty until the Eye Catcher's next turn. The Pester effect stops if the Eye Catcher is killed, immobilized, moved from the enemy unit's adjacency or use Pester on a different unit.)

Shadewing
Appearance: Dark blue glowing eyes, Its body has a dark aura, making the air look thicker and darker around it.
Description: Shadewings are ravens permanently transformed by the dark energies used by the Witches. They typically circle around Coven towns, awaiting their master's orders and alerting them of danger. Their empowered form leaves a trail of shadow as its moves, causing confusing mirages and making it very hard to retaliate against their attacks.
Abilities: Small Creature, Flyer, Pester (Passive Ability. Attacked units receive a -25% Attack and Defence penalty until the Shadewing's next turn. The Pester effect stops if the Shade Wing is killed, immobilized, moved from the enemy unit's adjacency or uses Pester on a different unit.), Mirage (Passive Ability. The Shadewing receives 25% less damage from retaliations.), Unlimited Retaliation

While I didn't think the birds of prey were particularly bad, This one is cooler.

However I personally don't like the name "Eye Catcher", sounds like something that you would play fetch with.

Slaver's Lair
Exotic creatures for sale! The Slaver's Lair lets you purchase creatures from other factions as well as neutral ones. The selection of creatures includes all Core creatures, but with a bit of funding the slavers can grant you creatures from other tiers as well.
All creatures bought from the Slaver's Lair have the Quality Guaranteed ability (Passive Ability. As this creature falls in battle, its owner receives a 25% refund of the creature's cost)
PS - to make the enslaved creature look a bit more fitting in the Coven faction, they all receive a dark shader over their default texture.

Hall of Feasts
These halls are grand enough to support celebrations for an entire army! Show your assassins, sorceresses and creatures of the night that their master spares no expenses in rewarding them for their services. Spend gold and resources at the Hall of Feasts for massive Morale bonuses as well as increased weekly creature growth.

Energy Vortex
Barely contained by the magical structure surrounding it, the Energy Vortex is a marvel of dark sorcery. An entire city can tap into its energy flow, making the construction of Coven buildings and creature recruitment cheaper. Seeing an Energy Vortex swirling inside a Coven is a bad omen for any assaulter, as its power aids Coven casters defending their city as well, granting them increased Mana.

Black Academy
Ideals, morals... none of it really matters unless you win right? The Black Academy embraces every technique that might be to the individual's advantage. It is the home of poison-brewers, backstabbers and masters of dark arts. Having a Black Academy in your city attracts shady people from all of Ashan, and their experience is at your Heroes' disposal...
The Black Academy automatically generates experience points for your Heroes, which they may receive when visiting the academy. The amount of experience generated per day is fixed, but not capped. For example, you may visit your Black Academy many times with your hero to receive small doses of experience, or only visit it a few times and receive larger doses.

It's been quite a while since I've seen your faction. Looks even better, everything, pics, ideas and even the presentation. Hmm, I sound like a marketing teacher. But anyway, if you're not set-up already <IMO> you need to find a career where you can use your imagination & creativity...'full-tilt-boogie'.

The Eyecatcher makes me think of a Grackle. Those birds are all over my feeders and cackling as if they own the place. Maybe your black bird could "distract"? A variation of "Cackle of the Grackle"

Another thought; how about some "mist" action in those dark mountians or fog, affecting the faction's magic, defense or strikes in some fashion.

Great work again, now just bring it on.

Thank you.

Yeah a kind of Distraction is kinda what I had in mind with the Eye Catcher's Pester ability. Seeing as H6 units seem to have an abundance of abilities I'm planning on giving my units at least one additional ability each, so some kinda cackle ability might show up.

Mist hmm... yeah maybe... could give the Assassin a smokebomb or something

I'm not too happy about the Hall of Feasts building (it feels a bit Haveny) so I'm probably gonna come up with something else... I'm thinking like a Hall of Sins or something... hedonism to the extreme... increases gold income

Smokebomb...reduces shooter damage. Cannot well hit what you can't well see.

What about "chanting" going on in the hall resulting in town defense? You're idea is probably better. What else would they doing up in those mountains of yours?
