Well I just updated my AMD GPU drivers and now Skyrim runs worse.
So now I've got the 1.2 patch worsening my performance, and the GPU drivers as well.
To think that when I first installed the game everything worked so smoothly.
EDIT:
Haha... uncheck 360 Controller under the gameplay tab in settings... free 5-15 fps boost. Silly game.
Still not as smooth as earlier but a small improvement at least.
EDIT2:
Ah wait I are silly idiot. Had accidentally checked the Vision Engine's Morphological Anti-Alias Filtering option... now iz ok haha.

Because Steam ninja-updated me and I don't wanna bother with the reverting process.
Besides from the slightly worse performance I haven't had any problems with the patch. I bet my dragons fly backwards but I don't do the main quest anymore anyway so I don't have any dragons.

Steam just patched my game to 1.3
- General stability improvements
- Optimize performance for Core 2 Duo CPUs
- Fixed Radiant Story incorrectly filling certain roles
- Fixed magic resistances not calculating properly
- Fixed issue with placing books on bookshelves inside player purchased homes
- Fixed dragon animation issues with saving and loading
- Fixed Y-look input to scale correctly with framerate

In Oblivion we came across Falanu in Skingrad... immediately thought of Darkshadow!

Some people are getting very persistent crashes to desktop with the 1.3 patch.
Other people are having no issues whatsoever.
EDIT:
Oh yeah and apparently Bethesda is gonna release a 4GB Aware Adress patch soon as well. Which is about fricking time considering that the recommended specs DEMAND 4GB AND THE GAME IS INCAPABLE OF USING MORE THAN 2GB.
Not that I haven't fixed that with mods already but still ^^

The 11.11c Catalyst drivers smoothed out the performance quite a bit for me.

I finally managed to get the gtx to support maximized 3d performance with some tweak suggested in sevenforums (which involves some timeout editing for driver crashes). The driver crashes as often as it did, but if there is a major crash impending, it just takes 8 seconds to reload the driver and do the maths. And returns to the game henceforth.
That said, I found another tweak which sorta should increase the performance (at the same time eliminating the 295 bug), but I haven't tested it for long enough to know the results. Involves a downloadable DLL, works for all cards older than GTXs but I am hesitant to use it on mine.

Hmm... think I'm gonna make an Orc assassin.
Imagine having a 30x damage bonus on dagger stealth criticals... and then you DOUBLE it by triggering Berserker Rage...!
He slits throats very furiously ^^

I'm going to keep a short-sword (a deadric artifact) and once I leveled up double ebony blades.
I find ebony weapon's engraving to be gorgeous, I have yet to see the armour though

I'm guessing they'll rip people apart at early levels (especially with Gloves of the Pugilist + Khajiit claws) but become very weak later on.

Hehe, puredestructo mages do get their buttom handed quite swiftly without any resistance bonuses even with 100% mana discount. When you ask? When you wake up next to a boss bandit mage. I had to battle one @ lev40 without any additional resistance and no protection spells cast. Took me a few reloads to dispatch her, as she thunderbolted me in 2 quick consecutive hits swiftly  .
