Can't do that kinda stuff without the Creation Kit. People have still done some amazing things already though... for example there's already an almost functioning online mod. Works like an arena mode.
Of course you can just replace a sword mesh and texture with a spear but to make it believable you'd have to implement new animations, which is the hard part. Bethesda games have never been very helpful with animations... you have to replace current ones or use non-practical scripts to trigger the animations when you want. We'll have to wait and see if Skyrim is more cooperative.

Going back to the exploration, I agree. It is my favorite part of the series. I remember walking for hours and hours in Morrowind, looking for that new cave or dungeon to explore.
Unfortunately, I misplaced a quest item somewhere and with how large that game was, never found it again. Didn't feel like slugging it out with Vivec either, so I restarted.

@Darksy: It's still closer than we've ever gotten before really, and they did it without the tools.
Oblivion had this co-op mode where a friend could take control of another character but it didn't seem to work very well, quite unpractical.
I'm personally not interested in playing TES online at all really, but following the development is quite interesting.

It does look evil but it is also amazing. I feel like I am a true dragon born with that armor. Going into town, casting a blizzard, shouting fire shouts and wreaking havoc. Pure ownage.

Update released. We're now at 1.3.10.

So far it seems to work well and actually improve the game (!).
So... now everyone who hasn't already fixed it with mods can use more than 2GBs of RAM. It can crash like crazy without the added RAM so... yay.

Tbh i'm not really fancying patching the game until they release a proper megapatch that atleast fixes the issues their other patches introduced

The preset high-Elf does them no justice, i managed to make a human-like face with a hint of elf, I also did so witht he wood-elf, alas there's no fixing dark elves 
You guys may want to look like Vorcha, but I don't .
That said I'm sensing much more racial tensions then in Oblivion and Morrowind.

Although I was deeply disappointed that me being an Altmer no dialog changes were made and nobody suspected me being a Thalmor justicar

I am wondering if the influence of Thalmor will move on to the 6th part of the game, or at least be handled as a mega-expansion. The convoluted and twisted plot deserves to have its own game (say, in Summerset Isles; psijik order would be your involuntary prejudiced ally with its own goals, though ultimately benevolent; you could join the Thalmor, help break it down or maybe take over the throne yourself for malevolent purposes).

Doubtful. All the dunmer called you an "outlander," even if you were a dunmer yourself! And all the business with killing people who released or housed slaves and slave traders and even drug smuggle inside slaves, etc. Slavery contains racial tension, because it was only okay to enslave the beast races.
