well i have been to Rome..
and guys what i will say Eternal City is MAGNIFICENT!!!!
You can feel it's greatness with an almost 3000 years history..
Architecture is incredible, food is amazing, so many historical monuments... Italian wine... mmmm... Belissimo!!!!
the only minus i will say that Rome make impression that buildings do not look that much mantained and given enough care..
i mean you can find a statue made by Michelangelo and a grocery shop next to it or an absolutely anything..
but still it is one of the best cities in Europe if not the Best...!
btw. if you want to see a well mantained historical buildings go to Vienna Austria...!!! that's what i call people who know how to take care of things..

My gripe with Rome is that it fiercely tries to dominate you with all buildings rising high, yet none of them really match. The churches are hideous Romanesque gold-plated beasts and there's graffitti everywhere. Florence is much nicer in terms of architecture anyway. The Dom and Battistero San Giovanni in Florence are very impressive and decorated with art, instead of gold. Oh, and I've had the great misfortune to visit the vatican during Easter (never, ever do this) (like, never) (seriously) and it was filled with throngs of people. I visited the Sistine Chapel and my god, I stood in line for three hours, saw one hell of a molested ceiling which was too high up to see well and I was crushed between throngs of tourists.
Besides, everyone knows that today's Rome is Moscow, anyway.
Though, admittedly, I suspect Moscow is just as much a warm-blooded beast as Rome.
My favorite city is Paris, though. French churches aren't gold-plated and the Gothic style is nowhere else nearly as good as in France. Oh, and if you rise early you can even find a nearly deserted Nôtre-dame de Paris.

...see what I did there? It's funny be...oh nvm.
Apart from your humorous reference to Iceland being cool/cold I must say that I really want to visit Rekjavik some day, my geography teacher did and she recommends it Not to mention how "cool" the Icelandic language is.

Excluding the obvious of Warsaw, my favorite city was Denver: The Mile High City. Although that might be somewhat cheating because it's not so much Denver itself as it is all the outdoors in the vicinity. It's just cool to have all the epic outdoors stuff so close to a major hub of civilization.

Reykjavik is a very boring city. But there are some amazing sights on Iceland, especially if you manage to catch a day without rain (which is not easy).

Florence is amazing but very one-tracked - you have Renaissance un abundance but nothing else. Rome is much more diverse in terms of what it offers.
That being said, there are some does and don'ts you need to know about visiting Rome. Visiting in easter is admittedly one of the don'ts. I've been to Rome I think 6 times, and I still could go back and enjoy it - and experience something new. It's so big. Last time I went in early may, and I think that was the perfect time to visit, it was nothing short of fantastic.

When I visited Rome, it was in the summer, and, despite it being slightly too hot, I loved it. it was great, and not too many tourists. Although I don't think I experienced even a scratch of what you can, I'l ldefineatly revisit!
