"I don't know where it is, nor its location. But there must be a reason Ouroboros kidnapped the girl from the mall. I suggest we get someone to look on her background and everything. We also need to dig into the past and find out everything we can about the old supers and villains. There has got to be a clue that pieces this all together. However, at the same time, we have slow down Ouroboros as much as we can, and if possible, find out what we can from him."
"I got a picture of the girl." I said and fumbled through my pockets until I dragged out the picture I had been "given" by the police during the aftermath of the incident "And I believe her name was Lisa...something. Had some information on here somewhere." I started searching my pockets when Mr. X's now familiar voice was heard from the other side of the phone "Info bank already got information on both the girl AND the original supers. You just need to access it and it will tell you a great deal. And if the information found there is not good enough for you Mr. Inferno, then give me a call and I'll get right on finding out more. But please, before we continue, do tell me that the reasons you want information is NOT because you need info about your heritage..." Mr. X sounded a bit sarcastic when he delivered the last remark. The same kind of tone you would expect to hear when someone asked you to "please try to keep the blood of the carpet" after hiring you to kill someone. Then the phone get off.
Curiously I looked to Inferno and was about to ask a question when Jack Kane said something more important.
((If this is okay with you Berny, of course. If you think that I should not have this information, then HCM/OOC me and I'll edit this post. However about the older supers, I believe I should have information((Mr. X is a "information broker" after all)) he just might not have all the true necessary information.))
"Then we have to use some unnatural means." "I bet there are some people able to locate others. If we don't know who, maybe there were other people at the Doctors base or something. I don't know, I simply left there."
"Good thinking!" I thought in my own mind while the woman...or at the very least I think it was the woman, answered him. Talking about a G9 and a Xion.
"Right." Jack Redfox said "Xion, curious that you would mention him after asking a question about 'a super with the power to locate other supers'. Because that is exactly what Xion's power is, ain't I right?" Jack hit the phone and soon enough Mr. X answered "Correct, but there is a reason why I DID NOT invite neither Xion or Rex Mallard to this meeting. Even thou the two of them have had encounters with Ouroboros the two of them cannot really be trusted! You do not feed the lion with tiger meat! If either of the two of them got their hands on the Cataclyst, the result would be just as catastrophal." Mr. X sounded like he could spit acid right now "However, it could be interesting to try to trick Xion into finding Ouroboros for us without him understanding why!" Mr. X laughed and turned off the phone again.
"I see. And this Xion is where?" I asked "And why would he be so dangerous."
"BECAUSE HE IS A SUPERVILLAIN! AND A TRUE ON AT THAT!" Redfox shouted "The snow would have slaugthered us all or use us for his own sick experiments had he the power to subjugate and defeat all of us!" The whole body of Redfox was shaking with fury and his face had turned brightly red "Unlike Mr. Vladimir here, who is strictly a mercenary and Mr. Kane, who just do, or did, 'small-time' crimes, Xion and Rex Mallard are actual supervillains with doomsday machines, secret hideouts, henchmen and minions and a secret evil plot to RULE THE WORLD...or something along those lines." Jack finally calmed down and sat down on the chair behind him and asked the bar for another glass of red wine.
"Hmmm...I see." I said while I started thinking "So after Ouroboros I will have to deal with this Xion and Rex Mallard then? I knew there was a lot to do here in NC." Under my mask I smiled like a kid who just found my parents secret hiding place for the Christmas gifts.

Kane leaned over to Vlad. "I used to do only small petty crimes?" he hissed, kinda emberrased. "That can't be right. I blew up several blocks for christ sake!"

The phone turned on again "One word: Biocomputers!" then turned off again. Under my mask I raised an eyebrow, this Mr. X started to sound more and more untrustworthy but before I could voice my protest Jack Redfox apologized "I must ask you to forgive Mr. X. I swear that the end could very well be ending around our very walls and he would not notice because he just found some interesting new technology with firewalls and high tech security that just begs to be cracked and studied. Even if the info would be proven to be a useless diary he would have still done it. It somewhat shames me to say, but Mr. X is unfortunately the kind of guy who sees a locked door and without thinking starts fiddling with the lock to break it open." Jack sighed.

Edmund emptied his tankard and set it back on the bar.
"Refill this, please." he said to the automatic bar.
"That Mr.X sounds like a real piece of work." Edmund took the refilled tankard from the bar and drank some of the monastic beer.
"Back on the subject of the evil that spreads in our fair town. Not only have we this maniac Ouroboros to deal with, we've two secondary targets, Rex Mallard and Xion. Whoever they might be, they threaten this city and potentially the world if you are to be believed." Edmund reasoned.
"Now stop me if I'm going ahead of myself, but could we not work with those facts. Now you're argumenting that it's too dangerous to work with them. If that is not a possibility, is there no option of having them fight eachother? "Homo homini lupus." as the Roman Plautus used to say."

"Hear! Hear!" I raised my glass towards the gargoyle "My thoughts exactly! Have the snows fight each other, and then we take out whoever is left standing!" I smirked under my mask.
"No! That is absolutely-" Jack started before he just 'froze'. For awhile he stood there completely still, only his breathing and his mouth moved, as his mouth closed. Then he finally smiled "Yes. Yes! That could actually work when I think about it. But if we are going to take down Xion and Mallard while we are at it we could invited Iratus Virgo to-nononono! She absolute great hatred against Xion would only compromise the mission! But what if..." Jack started mumbling under his breath so high that we could hear that he was talking, but just so low that we could not make out a word of what he was saying. But I was to busy to pay much attention to him anymore as I remembered the letter and list I had gotten from Emina, which stated that if I ever got any information about Xion's whereabouts I was to call her.
I looked up at Jack "Why does Iratus Virgo hate Xion so much? In the same mail package as your letter arrived in she also sent me a letter asking me to give her a word if I ever found out anything about Xion. Why is that?"
"Huh, what?!" Jack turned to me "Ohh, right Iratus. No, could not have her on the team, she has to much personal history with Xion, and unlike Inferno her who still is capable of prioritizing, she is the embodiment of roaring rampage of revenge. Xion killed her boyfriend and partner Michael, also known as Divum Patronus and it was also believed up until just recently that she too was dead. But her real ID survived, she just got hospitalized in another city. But her original image as "Ocean Patronus" is dead, now she is "Iratus Virgo" the revenge maiden with only one goal: Kill Xion, whatever the cost. She even killed me for only being associated with him at the time. Bloody hag!" Jack went back to his thoughts.
I nodded and mumbled "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorn, or was it wronged, or having her boyfriend killed? I keep mixing those up." Then I turned to the rest of the group "Now what do we know of Xion and Rex Mallard? It seems that this gargoyle here have gotten Mr. Redfox onto the idea that we might play them up against each other and Ouroboros, but to do that we need information on the two. What resources do they have? Superpowers? Do you know anything about what they are doing?" I looked at the other group as well as the phone which made no sound.

"Don't look at me, I'm just the idea-daemon. But seriously, I did not know of these Xion and Mallard untill you mentioned them. As a matter of fact, I barely know who I am myself. Let alone that vast criminal underworld of this city."

- Mallard is a genious. He was in the navy as far as I know. The Machine Mob is his handywork- Said Vlad.- And is more sane than Xion in my opinion. But obsessed with machinery. I've aquired some technology capable of destroying anything cybernetic. Not to mention very compact.

"Well think about this. The Machine Mob is a threat, but they have been laying low lately." said Inferno. "Ouroboros is an active threat. If we can somehow get Rex Mallard and perhaps even Xion against Ouroboros, it will make his path to the catalyst much harder. He is extremely powerful and would therefore deal massive amounts of damage to them both, leaving them all weakened and ripe for the picking."

"Ohh?" I thought in my mind as the Mercenary spoke "Rex Mallard is the mastermind behind the infameous Machine Mob? Interesting."
I nodded to Inferno "Yes I see the logic in the statement. All we now need is a PLAN. How do we make Mallard, Xion and Ouroboros fight each other?" I looked at the others "We do not know the location of Ouroboros, and I bet that telling Xion and Mallard about the threat would not serve us in the long run, and attacking the Machine Mob hideouts which locations are common knownledge won't do us much good either!" I waved with the list of Machine Mob hideout locations before putting it on the bar. "So the question is, how do we get these three people to fight each other? Do we known any of their locations, and I mean the persons true locations for one thing?"
at my last comment Jack Redfox finally spun around "Xion disappeared around one year ago, a few weeks after my murder. Think he did it to trick media. Since then not many people even knows that he still is alive. And only a few suspects is because all the crime mobs at the East side of NC disappeared soon after. People said Xion had come back and decided to finish cleaning up the mess he had been earning a great deal of money on. East NC was after all, Xion's usual workplace, and I do not doubt that he was the one who made all the mobsters "disappear", but I don't believe he did it out of charity. No, there is something much more sinister behind those actions. And rumors has it that the mobsters have returned all over town, as "walking dead"." Jack shuddered "Creepy thought if you ask me."
I only nodded in responds and thought "I heard about that incident yes." when Mr. X came back on the line.
"And then there is Rex Mallard. That mans technopathy finally got the better of him. After all, he started to replace his limbs with robotic replicas already before the Supervillain war. And then he created the machine mob, who appearantly rever him as some kind of "God" and they refer to him as "The Machine God". And here we all thought Xion was unstable, but I honestly cannot say who's the most crazy of the two." Mr. X laughed "Probably both! Anyway, we don't know his true location either. But I do know that he kidnapped a Dr. Violet right before disappearing, think it was her that did the original operation to replace his arm with a robotic replica, so he probably kept her around to do the other modifications and tend to his health problems, if he has any. I kept tabs on any and all appearances she may have made, but I don't remember them all on the top of my head, so check the info bank."
Again I ordered a refill of my glass before finally asking "You have made many references to this 'info bank' now. Mind telling me what it is?"
"Ahh, yeah!" Jack replied and pointed towards a corridor with the sign "Information center" "In there is a room where you interact with Mr. X information gathering machine. It is rather simple as it is voice activated. You ask a question and it answers to the best of its ability. Plus minus whatever filter you have and you will have a very nice and informatively day.

Mallard may be the man behind this Machine Mob, but that still doesn't explain who this Xion is, except for some homicidal sicko that has some debit to Mr. Fox here." Edmund said, while making a mental note of the Info Bank. He would use it later to find some things out about his past life.

For those who need it, I can supply armor, equipment and heavy air support. The Mk-89 power armor is virtually indestructable. I could also use technicians to adapt Evolon technology to the suits. I'd say we locate The Catalyst first, secure it and then eliminate Oroboros. And I know just the place where to hide it. In the depth of lake Baikal.

"Ohh, you don't know?" Jack Redfox looked surprised "That is going to be a long story then." Jack sighed "But seeing as everyone need to be at the same page, I might as well tell it. First things first, does everyone here know who The Dueler, Paladin, Calamity, Solara and the other "Cataclyst heroes" was?" Jack looked at everyone in turn.
"Hmmm..." I browsered my mind "Think I read about them when I researched New Constantinopel. They were the original superheroes of NC right? Can't say I remember those four specific names, as they were with a bunch of others and seeing as all of them were dead I never really noted myself any of those names except for one: The Dueler. He was the guy who later became the supervillain Zero and killed the rest of the superheroes. Correct?" I took a sip of the glass.
Jack Redfox nodded in responds "Right. The Dueler killed the other supers and became Zero, who then allied with a supervillain without any superpowers: Morte. Now Morte is a guy to note yourself as he was the cause of the supervillain war, and we already mentioned him a few times. Originally, Morte was a supervillain with a keen interest in technology. More specifically, he was a pioneer in the nanobot technology that has later been very useful for mankind." Jack emptied his glass "So people like me and the other scientists at nanotech has a lot to be grateful to Morte for, but that little drop of indirect good can not outweight his general evilness." Jack frowned "Anyway, Morte had a son. Or at the very least a foster son, Xion. Xion during his young days functioned as a lab assistant and a student of sorts for Morte. He also was a labrat in every respect of the word, and common logic and sense states that Xion's superpowers must have origined from those lab experiments. But certain people lack that common sense." Jack gave a short 'take that!' look to the phone
"Now Xion was with Morte for sometime, and God knows what Morte did to him that made him so "helpless" for that was what he was, helpless. He was not a person, but a tool existing only for the purpose of serving Morte. Xion probably knows a lot of Ouroboros and the experiments done between Zero and Morte, if he just goes down the memory line, he was after all the assistant of both of them during their co-working. But as any alliance between two men who clashes in philosophy as Morte and Zero did, the alliance could not hold. So Morte decided to strike. He captured Zero at the same time as he faked his own demise at the hands of Zero. This would leave his assistant Xion alone and abandoned in a great world which he probably found surreal." Jack refilled his glass, this time with water and took a sip of it.
"The effect this had on Xion is kind of curious, or so some says." Once again Jack's eyes went to the phone for a few seconds "Mr. X here described it as 'seeing your God being murdered in front of your eyes. The natural responds to that is either rage towards the murderer, or to draw the logical conclusion that the murderer was superior to your God, and should be revered as such. In Xion's case it was the later'." Jack shrugged "which sounds about right from my point of view, when we went to school together Xion's room was more or less a temple dedicated to the superheroes and villains, which Zero being the most worshipped one of them all. And it is because of this that Xion became a villain. After all, he knew Zero as "Zero the hero killer." so he decided to follow his example, probably measuring every kill and crime he did up against his idol." Jack emptied the glass of water and refilled it.
"So abandoned by Morte, Xion turned to worship Zero and decided to become a villain. He used his great intelligence to stage a bankrobbery, which gave him the start fund needed for him to go to a proper school, which is were I met him. Both him and I was interested in nanobots and nanotechnology, so we became pals of sorts. But both me and him had better friends than each other. After all, or only thing in common was our interest for nanobots." Jack mumbled under his breath as he realized that he once again had sidetracked "Back to story: After finishing school Xion would create a company called 'Nanotech', which today is the leading corporation in nanotechnology and after my 'demise' went public. But he did not do this because he wanted to work with nanobots. He only did this so that he could create what people now think is his 'real' superpower: The hive of nanobots that live inside his body. Most fameous for being used as material for various weapons and object Xion would create by imagining them in his mind." Jack emptied and refilled his glass of water again.
"With this new power of his, Xion would start his life in crime. Originally starting out as a psycho-for-hire, but eventually proving to be a mastermind at both playing the underground crime syndicates like puppets and killing superheroes in stacks! It was after his first superhero kill that Xion had to sell nanotech so that it might not bankrupt. I can say a lot about Xion, but he shall get one point from me: Anything he shed blood, sweat and tears into he would take good care of. So he tracked me down and after a few talks and dinners I would buy his company. Which gave Xion freedom to go on a killingspree..." Jack looked down on his feet "In recent history, the most noteworthy he ever was in on was the supervillain war, where he would discover that Morte was still living and that Zero was a good guy. Since then no one has officially seen or heard from him. We just know that he is out there, watching our every move, waiting for the opportunity to strike. Or something along the lines." Jack sat the glass down on the bar.

- No one could dive into the depth of 7 kilometers.- Said Vlad.- So it's an accidemt proof plan. The only things that go into such depth are robotic probes. Also I think that The Catalyst is of Evolon origin. They would be glad to have it back.

- I don't know much about them. They were fleeing from a war they were losing, and their mothership was shot over Earth and crashed in the Tunguska region more than a century ago. They are aquatic, making their home at fresh water lakes or seas. The Project LEGION is based on their technology. The last legionaire is standing near you. We had salvaged the examples of their technology from a facility near Irkutsk. Also the Mk-88 and Mk-89 armor are based on their tech. The logs we salvaged say that a remnant of theirs dwell in Baikal.- Said Vlad.
