Before Melony could answer Kane held up a hand to stop her. "I am not going to apologize." he said. "It would do no good, as you already know I am sorry. There is nothing I can do to make you forgive me for what I did, so I will simply assist you with whatever you need."

"There's nothing to thank me for." Kane answered. "I told you before, you may act as if you're home here."
He looked back at the door. "Though it would be interesting knowing what you actually did at home."
He found a piece of paper and a pencil in one of his drawers, stuck under a handful of knives, and started writing down notes while he rubbed his temples trying to come up with ideas.

"Remember that snowhole-ish ex-boyfriend that I told you about?" Melony told her, "That's him." She continued watching the TV which showed a news program about the ongoing war, Mallard, Xion and Vlad's current acts, on every channel she flipped to. Melony's face grew more melancholy the longer she stared at it.
Miasma walked back in. It spotted Kane and silently glided over to him, picking him up by the scruff. "The dog is washed Melony. Should I throw this out the window?"
"I told you no, Miasma." She called back tiredly.
"Fine." Miasma sighed as it set Kane down in his chair. "What's going on in the world today?"
"-A second Villain war appears to be going on, but I would hesitate to call it that Jim as the villains Kane, Refox and Inferno are still missing." The news reporter told the viewers. "Only this time, there aren't even vigilante heroes trying to stop-"
Melony turned off the TV. "That."
"Oh." Miasma fell silent. Melony looked over at Kane and saw him holding the pencil and paper.
"Whatch'a doing, Kane? Thinking up your grand entrance over there? Thinking about how many people you're going to kill to tell the others that you're in the game?" She called monotonically over.

Melony shook her head slowly, "No, at the most we are not enemies. Also, you won't have to worry about him finding it. Even if he did, he would not use it against us, and the odds against him finding it are incredibly slim as the one person who knows where it is," She pointed at Lisa, "Is standing right there."

Kane looked at the girl and straightened slowly. "You know where the Catalyst is...?" he asked, his voice a low growl. "Wanna help save human kind?"

"Alright." Kane said, trying to figure out how to explain this. "I am not used to explaining stuff like this so bear with me."
He pulled the table further out and sat down on it. "There are people in the world with superhuman powers, that much I expect you to know. They are usually categorized in two groups, the villains and the heroes. I used to be a villain, and I actually participated in the War slightly more than a year ago." he paused. "We got out power through something called the Catalyst, and I have no idea what it actually is. I know the name only and know that it was activated somehow and people around the world got different kind of powers. I am practically unkillable as my wounds will heal themselves. Zero, the leader of the previous war ((Kane disappeared before knowing the truth)) was able to foresee the future. From what I know the children of Superhumans had powers beyond that of normal Superhumans, their powers grew after their birth beyond that we could do. Inferno is a good example of this, as he is now probably able to turn this city to ash."
He stopped again, thinking. "I don't know very much more about this actually, all I know is that Ouroboros seeks the Catalyst and I expect he will try to increase his own powers to become somewhat of a God. He is already far more powerful than any other Super I've met."
He shook his head. "I don't know much more than this actually, I just know I have to get the Catalyst before Ouroboros does. Then I will destroy it and hopefully this will all be over."

Kane picked up his phone, not caring to ignore it anymore. The one calling him was sure persistent, something Kane didn't care much for. "Who am I talking to?" he asked.
