"I.. see. May I go home.. now? I wish to rest and.. recover. If you need me... here is my phone number." Econ took out a notepad and scribbled something on it, then tore the sheet out. He gave it to Edmund, saluted, and slowly began walking home.

"I never kept you here. You should see a doctor, but I will not force you." Edmund said as he accepted the paper.
"Don't expect any calls soon."
Edmund watched Econ, as he called himself according to the paper, as he trudged away.
Edmund turned, selected the tallest building that made up the alley and dug his claws in the wall. He began to climb upwards.
On the roof, Edmund streched his wings, trying to catch the wind. Flapping a few times agains the wind, testing it's strenght, Edmund deemed it too weak. He would need stronger winds or an updraft to get more altitude if he were to get anywhere far.
He flapped his wings again to make sure the winds were too weak.
At that point, he started to feel dizzy. He tried shaking his head, but it would not go away. Edmund feared he might get to finish the flashback he had earlier.

Econ got home without incident, (except meeting some mugger, who promptly got hit on the head with a pistol), sighed, and went to bed, not even bothering to undress.

"Thank you Kane." Melony devoured the chocolate in a few seconds. She saw Kane's facial expression as the small, shy woman inhaled the large chocolate bar. "Heh, sorry, chocolate is my greatest vice. My only one, really. Kane, I just remembered something!" Melony became excited. "You have a first name, I just-! Well, your name is Jack. Jack Kane! I remembered because it isn't short for anything else, like Jackson."

"So, Jack... I can call you that, right?"

Girl, I was wrong Miasma stopped ranting and Melony started listening. This "Jack Kane" does have powers, but they weren't what I had expected, so I didn't find them where I thought I would. If you can, have him take off his glasses.

Edmund was not on the roof anymore. He looked around. He was in a room, clean white tiles lined the floor and walls. And whereever he was now, he was bound to something. He could not move his arms, legs, tail or wings. Something was clamped around his neck as well.
"It seems I'm in another flashback, though I am my demonic self in this one." Edmund reasoned.
On a side of the room Edmund heared a door open.
"As you can see gentlemen, 'Subject G' is one of our finest specimens." A man said with a deliberate, deep and drawling voice. "We have been able to procure the desired results, without having to resort to biomechanical enhancements. And unlike the other subjects I have shown you, 'Subject G' is able to sustain himself without artifical help."
Edmund had no idea what the man was talking about, but all of this seemed very familiar. The man who was talking came into view. A large and hefty man in a labcoat. Edmund remembered him vaguely as well. The Edmund of the memory however knew this man all to well it seemed as he started roaring at the man. He strugled with his bonds without much effect. Whenever the Edmund of this memory was not roaring, snarling or growling at the man in the labcoat he, in vain, tried to snap at the man. The man was wise enough to keep a safe distance.
The man in the labcoat was talking into an earpiece and was now talking louder to make himself understandable despite Edmund's raging.
"However succesful we were physically, the psyche of 'Subject G' is a different matter. Every memory we erased, is overtaken by animalistic instincts. And though 'Subject G' can be reasoned with when he is calm, he can snap at an instant. In his berserk state, he is driven by a need to hurt anything he can. Due to the modifications we've made to the subject's body, it is difficult to sedate him. Not impossible, but his skin is extremely resistant to conventional methods of sedating subjects at a safe distance. Also we've discovered that 'Subject G' has large amounts of adrenaline in his blood, which may account for the berserks he suffers."
The man in the labcoat now listened to his earpiece.
"No, we are not sure that the adrenaline is the cause of his mental state. We've subjected 'Subject G' to so many mutations and enhancements that it is diffucult to trace the exact origin. Suffice it to say that a normal human would go into a coma with the ammount that 'Subject G' has in his blood by default. 'Subject G' is the worst adrenaline junkie in the world, hehe."
The man in the coat listened to his earpiece again.
"It took us two-and-a-half years to get 'Subject G' to reach the maturity you see. Though much of that was discovery as we went along. If we were to replicate the results, I assume it would take something over a year." He listened again. "No, there would be some form of individuality. Anyone subject to the same treatment would display a modicum of individual features. Colouration, horns, wingstructure, other superficialities that are due to environmental factors of the hostbody. Such things are not under our controll, nor do they need to be. Such superficialities do not affect anything other than their appearance. Shall we continue?" "Very well."

Edmund was back into the world of the concious. He was on a different roof than he was before. This one was much closer to the cathedral. He must have moved while he was experiencing the flashback. It mattered little. It was night and this was the time he could move more freely. If he could have an indication of the time, he could see how much darkness there was left yet.

Edmund roared in his taunt as the biker closed in.
After Edmund had woken up from his flashback, he had glided aimlessly through the city for a while. But after a while he had come upon this scene.
Seven bikers were beating up what seemed to be a businesman. Edmund did not hesitate for a second and swooped down on the scene. Deliberately crashing into one, smashing the biker into the nearby tree. To Edmund it did not occur that it was strange in any way that this happened in a park. Or that no actual bike was close.
The remaining six closed in, brandishing wrenches, tire-irons, chains and other steel items as weapons. Edmund hardly cared, these men were a very acceptable vent for whatever rage still loomed in his veins.
The first one rushed in and swung a heavy wrench. Edmund sidestepped the tool, wrapped his tail around the biker's ankle and with a swift whip the biker was flung into one of his friends. They both went down in a tangle of limbs.
Now two tried rushing at the same time, one twirling a length of metal chain, the other with a pipe. Edmund charged at the one with the pipe, ramming his shoulder in the man's stomach. He grabbed the biker by his leg, stood up fully and swung the man round like a club. Edmund managed to swing his adversary into the second one with the chain and both flew a small distance when Edmund released the leg of the first biker.
Edmund bore his carnivorous teeth in a feral grin. How he would regret enjoying this later on. The haze was not anywhere near and all this fighting would stave it off for a while longer.
Two of the remaining biker made room for the third. A particularly bulky individual with a full beard, he might well have been the leader considering.
"You're messing with the wrong guys, monster. I'll show you not to mess with the Bloodhounds again."
Edmund just snapped his jaws at him, encouraging the man on. The man let out a howl as he ran towards Edmund. Edmund waited and bided his time, letting the biker embrace in a bodylock.
"Not so tuff now, huh?" The biker taunted. Edmund counted on this and sank his teeth into the biker's clavicle as he reached up and dug his claws into the man's shoulders. The biker screamed in pain and he released Edmund from the bodylock. Edmund had not sunk deep into the flesh with either his teeth nor his claws, but the biker trying to push him away led to lacerations. The bikerleader stumbled and Edmund lashed out with his claws. The leader was treated to a fleshwound on the abdomen. Bleeding, the man fell backwards.
Edmund snarled at the remaining two, who fled fearfully. Edmund was tempted to maim those lying here, now he noticed the taste of blood in his mouth. But he decided agains it. It was the demon in him that wanted more blood and while he was still fo sound mind he would not indulge.
Edmund spat out the bloody saliva in his mouth and wiped his claws on one of the unconcious biker's jackets. The businessman who the bikers were attacking were nowhere to be seen.
Edmund walked to a nearby shrubbery when a cry of terror came out of it.
"Don't hurt me! I've called the police!" And indeed in the distance police sirens could be heared.
"I never ment you any harm." Edmund said as he lept into a nearby tree.
Edmund lept and climbed from one tree to another untill he had reached to top of the highest tree in the park. The wind was strong here and he took to the sky.

Kane looked at the girl for almost a minute without saying anything, then slowly reached up to take off the goggles. He hesitated a moment, then pulled them off. Bright light flooded his vision, and it was too bright for him to see anything. Then a purple aura seemed to line out Melony, showing him where she was. His eyes was shining in an azure blue color, and he waited for a response.

Guess Who is Back?
posted January 24, 2011 09:32 PM

I chugged down the remaining coffee that was in my cup as I placed the last red pin on the city map of NC.
After arriving in my new home, I had wasted no time unpacking the little bit of luggage I had with me from Germany and setting my stash around so I felt like home, the map and weapon rack being some of them.

I took a step back from the wall and took an overview over the city. "Red Pin for known Machine Mob "hideouts", that is to say, armoury and storage buildings. Blue pins for information contacts, these are so called "reliable" people I can go to for information and "help", whatever that means." I thought out loud and looked down on the two lists that I had arrived with the newspaper this morning. Both of them were lists of contacts, gangster hideouts, active supervillains and superheroes and their last known locations. One of them were signed "Iratus Virgo", a known superhero, while the other was signed "A most helpful Mr. X". Both of the two had contained letters as well. I looked back up on the map "Yellow pin means superhero hideout, black is for supervillain." I nodded to myself "And the purple one shows the Langsley Mall. a 'Place of interest' as I like to call it." I smiled, now this was good, I now have a good overview over the city, thanks these two. "However, before i make any assumptions, I have made sure to keep the pins from each list apart by using different colour strength in each colour. Light colour meant Iratus' list, dark is Mr. X" I sat the coffee cup on the table and took up both lists again to do a double check that I had done it correctly, before reading through the letters again.
Iratus' one was rather uinteresting. Just a "welcome to the neighbourhood, I am an avenger type hero who wishes you to keep an eye out for a supervillain who I am almost sure I killed a year ago." Letter. I sighed as I sat her list down on the table again.
"Avenging heroes, they are the worst! Like if it is not good enough to fight for justice and the good of the people!" I mumbled angrily as I looked over Mr. X's letter again, which I found much more satisfing:

Quote:

To: Der Kommissar
From: A Most Helpful Mr. X
First let me welcome you to our city and do my best at easing your adaption to our american landscape by giving you a list over things that might help you. Secondly, and more importantly, I have an request: CATCH OUROBOROS! As you most likely do not know, Ouroboros was the villain that you arrived just to late to catch in Langsley Mall yesterday. And I assure you know, coming to late was not harmful, nor was it harmless! I doubt that it was very much you could've done in Langsley Mall yesterday other than maybe pissing Ouroboros off enough that he would kill you, which would have been sad. However your help would be most wanted...no NEEDED in catching the villain! Ouroboros is a supervillain amongst supervillains! He would make Zero look like a boyscout on a picnic! He is such a powerful super, that he is capable of STEALING other super's superpowers! YES THAT IS RIGHT, HE COULD STEAL YOUR HEATH MANIPULATION POWER! And like this was not enough, he is also hunting for a device known as "THE CATALYST" a most powerful device which in the wrong hands, could send the world BOOM! Gone! Anyway, it is unsafe for me to say more, please contact superhero INFERNO for mor information!

"Hmmm..." I lifted my eyebrow "Most of this might be rubbish, but if nothing else, he has given me a good list of contacts and the name of the villain I am going to hunt. Perhaps I will hunt down Inferno, he did give me his previous known location after all, but first things first!" I mumbled to myself as I started to gear up for going out town "I shall go to each of the informant locations on my map, which will probably take all day, and see if they are to be trusted or not. When that is done I will probably hunt down either Inferno or Econ or someone to find out what is going on." I placed the hat on my head and made sure it sat good on it before looking at the door "Right, time to go!"

Her hand stopped just short of Kane's face. "Beautiful." Instantly her hand drew back, and Kane's eyes glew brighter. "But then... I guess that it could just be my personal... I don't know what other people would think about them."

Settle girl. Control your d@mn emotions! For all you know, this man is still evil. For all you know, he could be planning to take everything he can from you and then dispose of you. Miasma cautioned her. And I'm not strong enough to protect you right now.

"Maybe I don't want your 'protection'" Melony hissed out loud. (loud enough for Kane to hear)

Miasma was silent for a second. What did you say, girl? It asked in a small, shocked voice.

Melony has nothing to fear when she's with me, I don't see why I would even wish to lie. If I wanted to hurt Melony there would be nothing able to stop me from doing so. I thought I had shown clear anough that I am to be trusted, maybe I am infact a good person."

He looked at Melony. "I take it she can hear what I say."

Please... Tell him that... Miasma seemed rather shaken by Melony's mood swing.

"Jack, Miasma can hear you, and please stop calling it a girl. If anything, Miasma has more of the overprotective big brother thing going on." Melony seemed to be drained, despite the adrenaline coursing through her system.

Also... I, I can admit that... Let me talk to him please. Miasma waited for her permission this time.

"Alright, little shadow. Go ahead."

Melony felt herself drift out of control, but not into darkness like before. She could still see and hear everything that Miasma did, meaning that it was apologizing to both of them.

"Jack Kane," Miasma whispered. "I am sorry for thinking that you were untrustworthy. Since you have seen us, you have been nothing if not kind and worthy of something more then my suspicion. I'm sorry that I have been rude and... Well..."

((It seemed to run out of words to say, and was waiting for Kane to finish off its apology))
