Heroes Tribes external map generator problem

Hey guys,

Anybody got any idea whats happened?

I frequently make random maps and tweak them using the editor,
but today for some reason, when I load the generator and create a map,
all the resources, terrain and artifacts etc in the object list panel are gone. All the list for everything are empty. And if I click on a town and try to change the town name to alter the bonus, that list is empty too along with many other things....

Whats happened? Anybody come across this before? Can I repair these game mechanics or am I looking at a fresh install?

The fresh install is fairly simple I know, but I would like to know whats happened, and can it be fixed?

Cheers,
Jaeger.

I've not seen this exact issue. But does sound like a "Corrupted file" issue. You've probably already done this but <jic> did you shut-down the PC and then return to the map and Editor? I ask this because whether game-play or map-work if the PC has been up and running for quite a while, I've had similar things occur. "The Editor behaves strangely" etc. or games crash. Sometimes when this has happened to me whatever map I had open becomes corrupted and un-workable.

I ran into a similar thing once and no one offered any suggestions, (due to them not seeing exactly what I had) so I did have to do the re-install. You could first try a defrag and disc clean-up to see if whatever the cause...may be corrected.

Were there any events ahead of this? Like mod or patch?

Hi,

I tried the reboot etc. No matter what I do now the lists are all blank. Even when I load a previously constructed map.

There was a precursor to this issue. When I was part way through modding a map, it CTD'd. And after that I shortly realised the issue was present.

Sounds like to me the best thing is to do a re-install. I just wanted to know if there was a possible fix for this and if it was a known issue or not.

Thanks for the reply.

Cheers,
Jaeger.

Your best bet. I didn't want you to feel like lone stranger I've had several odd things happen w/ H5 and no one else apparently had experienced the exact same problem as I encountered. It appears the same has happened to you.

Here's one example; Believe this fun or not but once I received a security update from MS and my most recent save file of the map I was working on at that time reverted back to a previous state and I lost a full day of work I have not a clue what happened and never will. What did they have in common? Maybe that's why the bugz; our Editors are hacking while we are trying to craft a map.

Anyway...Good luck and I'm sure you now know what I finally figured out; add mods...one atatime...very slowly and save save save.

PS, When working, I constantly update a map-copy on my desktop. Best idea I've had.
