Super-Hero Bug - anybody else seen this?
Made a random map. Medium size, one computer opponent. no water, average monsters.
Selected Castle as my town and Orrin as my hero.
start the game. Hey Now! Orrin showed up as Level 10. Had 6 secondary skills, some in expert or advanced range.
Was not able to do again - tried 5 or 6 more times on different random maps. Kept showing up as level 1.
Anybody else seen anything like this?

This is a common bug.Sometimes starting hero can be lvl 5,10 or 30.

you will never get non-level 1 hero if you will start with random hero. Also, you can disable Prisons on random map (is it interesting?), so starting hero will be always level 1. I was working on patch for non-level-1 problem and have some code that may be useful if you know assembler.

Try to remove prisons from objects.txt, should work
