Faction: Death Wardens

I thought about this faction idea quite a while, but I think I haven't reallly posted it before, so, this shall be my faction for shooshimas challenge.

DEATH WARDENS

“Death has a place in this world and we are those who protect it”

The Death Wardens are an old and honourable order, whose origins are not certain. Certain is, that they are highly respected in Ashan for their fighting and healing ability, but still  avoided for the almost scaring calmness

In a nutshell:
The Death Wardens are an Order who beliefs in the Circle of Death and Life, and who see themselves as protectors of this circle. Lifes are neither spared nor taken without a reason - though the Cult is proficient in both areas.

It's members come from various races and cultures, and they are aided by the mysterious creatures of Death, as well as by the Blessings of Death and Life.

Death Warden troops are rather strong, but expensive and with a low growth rate, usually. Mixing them with troops from other factions is more difficult.

Inspiration:
Death Cults in General, the Aventurian "Boron" cult of the rpg "DSA" (I think "the dark eye" in english. it's the PoP "Drakensang" is based on)

Associated colours:
Aka: "The Keepers", "The Wardens of Death and Life", "Order of Balance"
Symbols: the hourglass and the scythe:
Worship: Death itself, the Circle of Being (life>death>life>etc.)
Core Philosophy: "Do not waste Life, do not fear Death!"
Country / Kingdom: no connected realm
Capital City: Phartus, 'The silent Gate'

Recent Events:
The uprising of the "Necromancers" is a development the Death Wardens are not willing to tolerate. Forcing back bodies and souls of the Fallen is the greatest heresy in their eyes, and all undeads shall be destroyed. Thus, the Wardens have begun mustering armies and preparing for war.

Social Organization:
The Death Wardens' Society is very hierarchical, but, unlike many other social orders, does not rely on Birthright, nor, and that my be even rarer, is the social position of an individual very fixed. Instead, it is determined by the capability and devotion to the Cycle. It is also considered, which skills any individual has - an extraordinary healer will not be wasted as a fighter or crafter, nor a great fighter as a leader. To find out those skills and abilities, a number of committees nd councils exist. The highest of these is the "Dying Council", deciding who is fit to get into the highest positions of the Death wardens. IT is mentionable, too, that members of such a council may not have another important position in the Death Wardens Society.

Once and as long as the position of an individual is clear, there are no uncertainties - the chain of command is rather clear. There are 3 "Castes", each with a rather linear command chain - Death Caste, Life Caste and Stone Caste. The Stone Caste hold any Crafting Power, building the cities, but also tools, and such. Artists are usually in the Stone Caste, too, if that's there main Vocation. In the Life Caste, there are all that deal with the living, healers and farmers, diplomats and nurses, cooks and sheperds...in the Death caste now, there are anyone devoted to death. Mainly, these are the warriors, but also morticians, and those who are extremely devoted in Death. Historians are also part of the Death Caste.

Each Caste now, is equal to both other castes, neither life nor death nor stone are superior - just as in the world, neither the Death nor the Life are superior to each other, nor to the stone on which they both exist.

Architecture:
The Cathedral buildings are mostly in a gothic style, build of heavy, dark stones. Most will have strange, but simple ornaments and be rather tall, symbolizing the vastness of death.

Magic:

Death Wardens Strategy: ""

* Strengths: Very strong troops in most aspects
* Weaknesses: VERY few numbers,
* Racial ability:

Cathedral

NOTE: green abilities are only with the upgrade, red only with the unupgraded creature, black with both

CORE

Jackal - Anubian

Appereance:
Jackal pretty much like this animal:

The eyes are glowing green, though, and it's bigger than in nature.
---
Anubite looks similar to jackal, but more black fur, and a black, furless head with rather large ears. The glowing in the eyes is more intense and yellow.

Description:
The Jackals are sacred beasts for the Death Wardens, seen as messengers of Death. Many Followers of the Death Wardens grant their bodies to the jackals as a gift, strengthening the ferocious beast with their flesh. The jackals are not only sacred, and treated well, but also, often, trained as war beasts, and they are very wild and surprisingly effective.
---
The Anubites are especially blessed Jackals, whose "raise" happens in an ancient ritual. They are the War Hounds of Death, swift and deadly killers, and also more enduring than Jackals. Alone the view of an anubite will remind the living of Death, which will unevitably wait for them at the end of their path.

Abilities: Hunt Down, Messenger of Death Pack Hunter;

Strengths: Good Speed and Damage;

Weaknesses: rather fragile = low Hp and defense; Hp better on Anubite;

Medic - Plague Medic

Appereance:
A medic of the Death Wardens wears traditionally robes in white, grey & red. He also wears red gloves, and no skin is seen except the upper part of the face, while the lower part is covered. Their weapon, the Scal Pay, is also used as surgery instrument.
---
Plague Medics wear darker robes - No white, but instead partly black. Also, their whole face is covered in a plague mask:

Description:
The Medics are part of the life caste, very proficient in healing by non-magical means. They are amongst the best healers of the world, and highly regarded not only by the Death Wardens. In any army of these, you will find many medics, aiding the wounded and finishing off the dying. They are as merciless in their work as many of the other Death Warden members are in theirs.
---
The Plague Medics are a special kindof medic. They can not only heal wounds, but are specialized in curing poisons and, especially, diseases. Their long time spent with the sick and poisoned, as well as a mercilessness for themself and a tendency to experiments leads to the fact that most plague medic are rather immune against most poisons and diseases.

Abilities: Cure Poison, First Aid, Medic's Immunity;

Strengths: helpfull abilities, good HP;

Weaknesses: Other stats rather low, esp. speed;

Raven Guard - Raven Knight

Appereance:

Description:

Abilities:

Strengths:

Weaknesses:

ELITE

Assassin - Silver Thorn

Appereance:
A slender figure, dressed in unremarkable clothes. The Assassin carries a bow and two blades.
---
The Clothes are  slightly more remarkable, streaks of black, silver and green in them, the Blades are shining Silver and the Bow is longer and black.

Description:
Assassins are the ultimate bringers of Death. These, usually Elven, Elite Killers, no neither mercy nor grudge. They get an order from a higher ranking Death Warden Member, and the execute it, without further hesitation. They are proficient in ranged and close combat, know how to hide themselves and especially effective against single targets. They are far from numerous, but their great skills make up for that easily.
---
Silver Thorns are a young offspring of the Assassin Order, devoted in killing Undead and Demons, which they both see as an affront to Death - and Life. Their Silver blades and arrows are especially effective against these, and their training fills the gap. They are, though, far from limited on Undead and Demons - they will pierce any other enemy as well, as easily and remorseless as one smashes a fly.

Abilities: Execute Target, Silver Weapons;

Strengths:

Weaknesses:

Appereance:

Valkyrie OR Nidhogg -

So... it's basically a dark haven? Or like a Necropolis/Haven mix?

I fear that when standing next to Haven and Necropolis, the Death Wardens will look a bit umm... redundant?

Abilities and stuff could help this faction find its own idenity, but the theme feels a bit too familiar.

Or between them. The Haven worship only the life and Necromancers worship the 'twisted version' of Asha. This faction worship the life/death/life cycle. But as you said too familiar for a new faction. As far as I see there are too many humanoids.

But the idea is a idea. Good job Jiriki. Continue to develop this faction and we'll see...

neither nor, as I intend it.
They share aspects with both factions, certainly, but as well as others. This faction shall view Death in a faction in a different way then we know it from the necromancers, where it is in fct rather perverted and reverted and not really there (it's allways UNdeath).

Concering the belief in the cycle. Of course, the protection of Death takes a slightly higher place in this order, as the name suggests.

For the many humanoid units...I personally do not see that as a flaw...the guard or the Knight may be replaced later, though...maybe also either mortician or assassin. also note that these are humanoid, but not all human.
