Mark my words, Dungeon champion unit will be the Faceless.
Also, another prediction, a bit off-topic:
-The faction worshipping Malassa (Dungeon) will get a clone model of dark elemental.
-The faction worshipping Arkath (Dwarves) will get a clone model of fire elemental (under a name ralted to forges or something similar).
-The faction worshipping Sylanna (Elves) will have a clone model of the Earth elemental (possibly new version of the trents so I wouldn't count with them as possible Champion unit).
The same way than Elrath and Shalassa followers got their Light and Water Elemental clones.
Unless we get a Free Cities faction (which would be cool, but with 2 factions per expansion I don't see them comming) I don't see the Air Elemental having a clone, as Academy doesn't worship any of them, as much they're related to the seventh dragon.

Some creative ideas here, but I think Nostalgia wins above all and for most people, they cannot imagine their favourite factions without their favourite creatures, especially the champion units.
I myself would be upset if the titans were left out of Academy, no blacks for dungeon, and etc...
In fact I still pretty much prefer h3 devils and bone dragons over the current champion units for inferno and necro.
I think there is a strong connection with the past that makes people hope for seeing the old stuff over and over again, but in a... "re-imagined" way if you want and under new circumstances (new skill system, new hero specialities, new town lineups, new abilities, improved designs that are still faithful to the classics, h3 titan or h5? My answer is H3 titan with h5 height)
I wanna make so many polls, but it is not possible without posting in other threads first, so it's gonna take some time

I don't know why, but I feel that rocs/thunderbird will appear in academy. Titans cannot be gone!

I guess that
Sylvan will has Treant as champion, 
Academy - Titan,
Dungeon - Black Dragon 
and Fortress - Fire dragon (I would like Salamander)

I highly doubt that dungeon will get a black dragon, or dwarves a magma one. They did say they were getting rid of all the dragons.

The game takes place in an era where dragons are hidden, so yeah it's unlikely that they would be creatures in the game.

I probably posted a few of them. The thing is, dragons as powerful monsters work, dragons as gods, not so much IMO.

Basically, there are 3 kinds of people.
1: the kind of people who cannot get enough of dragons. The more the better.
2: the kind of people for whom 1 dragon is already to much. 2 at most.
3: the people who don't realy care either way.
And the third kind are often the least vocal.

Well there is a tiny bit of overlap. Personally, I fall in both groups 1 and 3. It is all basic set theory realy.

Well they also said that are some factions that just cannot be whitout a dragon

I would like these creatures as champions:
For dungeon:
I think Dungeon should keep its dragon,because it was the first faction to have a dragon as champion.
I think we don't get the faceless as champion,since the faceless seem to play a rather neutral role.
For Sylvan:
I think the Treant would make a good champion unit,but something like a Leshy(a shapeshifting forest guardian) or Behemoth(not evil looking like in older games,but more nature orientated,Behemoths represent after all the earth) would also fit as a champion.
I wouldn't like a dragon as champion,not only because I belong to the people who think that one standard dragon is enough(however different sub-species like wyverns or hydras are fine),but also because I don't associate dragons with the forest.
For Academy:
Well I would like to see the Titan back.I could also see a sphinx as a champion,but it may look too similar to the Lamassu.
For the Foretress:
Well a salamander,similar to the fire dragon from H5 would be ok,but I would also like a Fire Giant,as it would fit with the norse theme and the fire element,but it could be too similar to the titan.
