How do young people have fun?
except alcool and video games?
seriously, I don't really know. being mostly interested in psychology or religions doesn't help to communicate with people. video games neither btw, except if you happen to find someone who plays exactly the same game than you at the same period.
so, do you have some ideas that I may try (or not, seeing that I live in a city for elderly )?
I'm interested in girls' hobbies as well

I am still young. I'm just wondering what you can do that doesn't make you look akward to other young people (the problem being that it should interest me as well lol)

It's better to be actually interested in something than to be casual mindless consumer. Sooner or later you'll discover people interested in movies, games and sport (on TV ) don't really have anything to offer.

well, I thought about sports indeed. now, I just want to spend time, not train like mad or compete. not like in school, where it was only fun if you happened to be good at the sport you were forced to practise anyway.

lol, actually I had thought about that. maybe it's because their studies are too boring that they need to party all the time to vent their frustration

I see what you mean. with such a guy, you will not learn anything more than what you could have seen on TV. but wouldn't it be the case with many activities that you can practise alone?

Quote: How do young people have fun?
How can they not? So many things to see and experience out there, with the right company you can have a blast no matter what you do. And if you are not satisfied with yourself as you are perhaps you should renew the way you look at things, who you hang out with, the way you live in general. It is always a good time to rediscover who you are and what you want, stagnation never helped anyone.

How do people have fun? How about hobbies?
besides they drink not because it's fun but because it allows them to relax and, thus, have fun

Fun really in the end is what you enjoy doing to pass time.
If you're interested try looking into different things.
Try sports if you're into using your body (or prostitution, but why make that sort of thing "work" and ruin it for the future?)
If you are interested in games, maybe take up programming or graphics?
You can learn c# (basically Microsoft's gateway programming language into C++ and Java) from coding4fun.com and download a free express version of visual studio from Microsoft.com/express and using that, you could make cheap indie games for window, xbox and phones. Plenty of example games provided by microsoft you can take apart too to learn the basics of how they work.
If you're a college studen with a .edu address you can download tons of free stuff from dreamspark.com
(I'm kind of an artist so I learned about that programming stuff when my hubby had the hair-brained idea to try to learn programming with me doing graphics to make a game that will probably never be made)
If you're into graphics, you can always learn how to use GIMP (gimp.org) for amazing photoshop-like work.
If you like music you can listen to music industry stuff they play on the radio, or you can check out the indie music scene (easy to find on google).
Or you can listen to classical music, a huge selection at musopen.org as a suggestion, many others out there but with Musopen you know it's public domain.
I dunno, just a few suggestions.
Or you can go consumerist and bathe in the brief euphoria of buying yourself stuff.

Elvin : well, I'm thinking about redefining my life indeed.
but I won't have the opportunity to make the choice before next year.
oh and it seems to me that most people want to be settled as soon as possible so that they can stagnate for the rest of their life. seriously, except maybe in some specific periods of the life, do you know many people whose life is not mostly stagnation?
Quote: What interests you? What would you like to accomplish? That is often fun, unless something weigths you down, is my guess.
the problem with achievment, unless you have no ambition, is that it often takes great sacrifices. you know what you lose but not what you'll get. one of the things which worries me the most is getting engaged in something, it sounds like being trapped.
Shyranis :
Some of you already know I made many mods for H5. I also made maps for a few games. even though it is rewarding to see the final results and to try to make it as clean as possible, it can still get tiresome if you have nothing else to do. it also depends a lot on my inspiration of course, some people asked how I made such good maps and didn't realise that there was no miracle, I made tons of snowty ones as well.

I'm trying a few activities. I have yet to meet young people
but there aren't many possibilities for studies here, that may be why.
