Oh that's disappointing. I thought you were saying something a lot more interesting and insightful than what you were actually saying. The Barbary Coast of course contains places that were literally part of the ancient Egyptian Empires. The ruins of Cyrene are in Libya now, but they were in Ptolemeic Egypt when people lived in them.
In fact, looking through your list, you seem to rather consistently use "slapped together" to refer to factions that have stronger themes, which is confusing because that's the opposite of what everyone else in the world would mean by that. The Sanctuary is Japanese mythological creatures with Japanese Military titles and you call it "slapped together". The Hideout is Libyan mythological monsters in Libyan pirate bands and you call it "slapped together".
Well... I guess I prefer things to be "slapped together" by your bizarro-world definition of the term. Factions should have strong mythological and cultural ties.
