I only wanted to help because I didn't think Jiriki would ever do it, but it seems I got him off his ass so ^^ (just messing with ya man I know real life can eff up things)

But sure, why not. I'll help as well.

Any general guidelines you want me to follow so our judging is somewhat consistent?

I propose a 1-10 score on whatever grounds we choose for convenience

EDIT:

Also we just travelled in time apparently It's ICTC VI not IV.

So the points scale, I'm thinking:

General info: x/10 for backgrounds, ambiance, buildings, etc.
Units: x/10 for creatures, backgrounds, abilities, descriptions, etc.
Heroes: x/5 for abilities, balance, descriptions.
Setting: x/3 for having a setting, faction background in this world, etc.
Overall: x/10 for just how appealing this faction is to you over all. Does not need to be a composite score.
Optional/ bonus points: Up to 5 for the completion of things like campaigns, going above the necessary requirements, and just generally being an over-achiever.

Does our judging panel agree on this scale?

No, personally I find it too obstructive and wouldn't neccessarily produce a score that would fit into my actual opinion of the faction.

I prefer looking at the entirity and giveing it a simple 1-10 score. A faction may for example completely lack Heroes info, but make it up by being really awesome in other areas. In your system, such a faction would nonetheless be at a disadvantage since I'd be forced to give it 0 points in that area.

That is why I proposed a 0-10 score on whatever grounds we choose. You may very well motivate it by placing parts of the score in such areas, but that is still up to you and most importantly, you may be flexible in your scoring areas depending on what you are judging.

I am complete with judging one faction, and begun a second, using a scale of 100 points maximum so far, divided into several categories, amongst them those mentioned by gnomes, and including a "bonus" category in which you can give up to 15 bonus. The general info I put together with the general impression/overall liking of the faction.

The reason I did not want to judge by personal liking this time is because it is SO subjective...I hoped it would make things fairer to use a strong scale.

So finally, my judgement:

First of all I want to say that these were all three great factions! I enjoyed reading through them and would like to play any of them in a game.

Catacombs - LizardWarrior

General
The General Infos are all given. The overall-idea seems not overly creative and also a bit pushed onto ashan to me. the overall ambiance is fine. 9 Points

Units
The units are very detailed and ambient. Some are quite creative, others quite not. Overall, the mixture of creatures is more homogenous than heterogenous to me, concerning the non-gameplay parts. 25 points

Heroes
The Racial is basically an aditional spell school, even if it uses a different "mana". Some spells seem pretty strong as well. The hero classes are fine. 17

Town
Buildings are fine. Special buildings are good as well, though not all optimum. Nothing on architecture found. 11

Setting
Many details are given, especially on the History, which seems fitting, not forced and not too clicheed for such a faction. I miss a bit of a look on the society - surely there is something like this even in the void?! The faction relation enhances again the role of the faction, though its fitting. 13 points

Bonus
THe campaign seems awesome, the the ending is even strengthenin ghte impression of this faction being - just - another UBER-ENEMY for the rest... However the many great campaign units, and close details give a huge bonus here! 12 Points

Total: 87 points

Dungeon - Nocturnal

General
This faction keeps quite close to the Dungeon of H5, yet alters it a bit with some creative and classical ideas. the ambience fits dungeon well and the faction is put into the Ashan History well. Maybe a bit much Warhammer in it, but that's easy to happen with dungeon these days. 10 points

Units
A solid combination of dungeon units, some innovation in it and yet a somehow classical style. 25 points

Heroes
Not awesome in my eyes, but not bad either. 11

Town
Not so many details but what is given is nice. The special buildings are not otstanding, but fine. 10

Setting
Would have liked more input here. The relations are nice, though. 8

Bonus
I count the music in here, with 2 bonus points.

Total: 66 Points

Mirage - BlizzardBoy

General
Good overall ambience, good general infos. Creativity is great! 15 points

Units
A great mix of units, some outstanding and great, others more solid. 24 points

Heroes
Fitting and quite nice. And nice amount of details. 17 points

Town
Nice. Special Buildings are extraordinary. 13 Points

Setting
An awesome lot of details, and done nicely as well! 20 Points

Bonus
1 Point for the music^^

Total: 90 Points

So, from me, the places are:

1st Place: BlizzardBoy, with the awesome Mirage.
2nd Place: Lizardwarrior, with his great gloomy Catacombs.
3rd Place: Nocturnal, with his nice version of Dungeon.

ICTC VI Faction Judging
Judge: Adrius the Bärsärker, conqueror of worlds, vanguard of destruction, harvester of souls, grim reaper of the battlefield, the great scourge, thirster of blood, slayer of kings, etc etc...

Let's rock.

Ah the obligatory parody faction. It's quite well written and easy to read. The presentation is clean and nice, though a few pictures of the forum stereotypes wouldn't have been too hard to find and may have upped the first impression a bit.

I personally can't really relate to the creatures in that "haha that's so true" kinda way, which is a bit sad. Kudos for not just sticking with the usual "spammer" unit and "ToH rager" unit or something though, it's a bit more thought behind it than that.

As for abilities, some of the creatures feel like they've received more love than others, most notably the Breeder with one single ability. I like the ability descriptions, among which a few are quite amusing as well.

Heroes are pretty lacklustre, no special skills or stuff. The racial ability is just a stat boost which is a waste really, since racial abilities are a great way of really tying your faction's theme together and combine abilities.  Could definitely have been cooler.

Overall, for a parody faction it's quite nice.

Score: 2/10

Rampart
Author: Vindicator

First impression is awesome. I like the pic and the small introduction text really sets the mood right, which is very important. Likewise, the music you've chosen feels very fitting... the town theme is badass. You seem to know well how much atmosphere can play into the impression of a faction. Kudos.

I see you've used a H6 template for the presentation, which I like, very informative and easy to read.

The units are well thought out and fitting to the theme. The ability descriptions are top-notch, very nice. I also like how you've included animation descriptions and some general stats guidelines. I find too many stat numbers boring, and a simple description of the main changes like you've used much better.
The strategy section for the units is always a nice addition, giving the reader a bit of insight on how the author intended the units to work. Gives a serious impression, me like.

Sadly, the line-up is unfinished.

The racial ability could've been more interesting than a stat boost imo, and I'm not sure how the permanent stack bonuses work when splitting stacks and the like, but still quite nice and fits with the hunter theme.

Overall, a faction with great potential that was sadly unrealized. Could've been a major contender if finished.

Score: 4/10

The Catacombs
Author: Lizardwarrior

Lame copy of my Spiritualist Void faction from 4 years ago. Score: 0 / 10. Go kill yourself.

...

Bah ok then ^^

You must've spent days in Photoshop, this is how you set a first impression! Nice! You really catch a few eyes with this presentation. You are very consistent with the style, which pays off significantly in atmosphere. I still think you should've skipped the blood on the creatures since it just looks like you smeared sauce on them honestly, you're very good at manipulating existing artwork but when you add your own drawing skills on top of that... it gives a rather ugly contrast imo.

Your grammar is a bit lacking overall, which is a bit annoying when reading through your faction. The background story is decent enough, had a bit of trouble making sense of it.

The creatures are generally quite original and interesting, and as mentioned earlier the artwork is very impressive. I feel like you could've stayed with the "monstrous" kinda creatures more rather than mixing them up with undead creatures, as to make it more distinct from Necropolis. The abilities are diverse and interesting, some a bit unoriginal but not unfitting overall.

Using a new magic school as a racial ability is a rather classic move among faction makers on HC, and I feared I'd grow bored of it. The affiliations are a nice twist that I like, and the spells are rather interesting. I'm not sure why I'd bother with other spell schools when I have the Void Spells though.

I don't care too much about the campaign, though the added creatures are nicely made... impressive effort there.

Overall, it's a rather unoriginal theme in theory but it's very original in its execution. Regardless of whether this faction reaches a high score in the competition, I believe it deserves a QP for the amount of work put into it.

Score: 7/10

Revenants
Author: Gnomes2169

They're like Necropolis but with nice guys that don't want to eat your brains. Hmm ok.

First impression is rather chaotic, as we have some sorta large artwork and then a wall of text beneath, along with a history that just goes on way too long for one's interest to hold. It badly needs BB codes and perhaps additional images to make it easier to read and navigate.

The creatures are rather diverse but worlds apart in style. We have zombies and warriors and black spiky thingies and spirit warriors and manga-style dark warriors. I can't see this group as a line-up on the battlefield.

The first two creatures are completely lacking in interesting abilities, having some minor statboosts instead. It gets better from there, with the Shade Stalker tier having the best ones.

On to the heroes OH GOD that first might hero artwork, it's probably the most overused piece of artwork on the planet... ah well. The magic heroes have quite nice artwork.

Last Rites is a rather interesting racial that forces the enemy to think ahead of how he plans to attack... it's nice.

Overall it's an average faction with a style that contradicts itself far too often, and a presentation that needs work for the story to reach the reader.

Score: 3/10

Crainneog
Author: Flackmandan

Presentation is clean and easy to understand, nice work there. First impression is "Haven clone", but I read on. The heroes are quite classic and frankly, boring.

You have only human creatures in the line-up which is also unfinished, and the abilities are uninteresting.

The racial ability is overpowered to the extreme and makes no sense, "Pride" reflecting damage?

I started off thinking "Haven clone" but in the end it's more like "Sylvan but with humans".

Score: 1/10

Dungeon
Author: Nocturnal

First impression gives a rather unoriginal feel, but hell... it's Dungeon.

The artwork is rather fitting considering that H5 Dungeon was a Warhammer clone to begin with, so why not just use their artwork eh? This is obviously not meant to be an original faction in terms of theme, but rather in abilities and strategy.

The units are quite standard Dungeon except for a few ones... goddamn that Minotaur is horrifying haha. It looks monstrous and scary as hell.
Among these I have no idea what the Siamese is doing, as it's neither stealthy, magical nor particularly monstrous, it feels like an unnecessary waste of a tier considering that you already have a female in the line-up. Hidden Reversal and split are excellent abilities.
Oppressive Revenge is rather interesting... ultimately giving the Dungeon creatures a round where going all out offense really pays off. It's ok.
The Hero types all have very good abilities, among which Treacherous Plot is definitely the most awesome one. I can just imagine what a "OH ****" feeling that can give to the enemy as you rearrange all your creatures.

Overall, quite nice.

Score: 5/10

Mirage
Author: Blizzardboy

Presentation is perfect, with the town music setting the dreamlike, paradise atmosphere very nicely. It's very easy to read and navigate, and all parts are of proper length and never gets too long or feel too short.

The theme of a remote island that changes location is excellent and I absolutely love it. The bards are a very nice, classic idea weaved into the theme, and I love it as well. I wanna live there ffs.

The creatures are excellent and have a nice balance of half-elves and creatures. The Minstrel has awesome artwork and is the creature that represents the theme the best imo, loving it. Aside from the Minstrel I like the Salamander the most.
At first I wasn't too fond of the Muse, but it has grown on me quite a bit.

The hero instrument attuning is an excellent idea, I really like that. The hero types are well thought and named, with interesting abilities. The racial ability is a very creative way of integrating new utility into the existing H6 warcries... nice.
You took the time to make yourself unique skills for your faction, which H6 sadly lacked, kudos.

Overall, bloody awesome. This is your best faction so far.

Score: 10/10. I can't think of anything to improve, it's just perfect.

Top 3 Factions.

1st Place: Mirage by Blizzardboy
2nd Place: Catacombs by Lizardwarrior
3rd Place: Dungeon by Nocturnal

Ad, I A) wasn't done with it and B) dropped out.

On to the judging:

The Catacombs: By Liz

A take on the undead and demons that one rarely sees (well... beyond H4 at least. Infernopolis ), this faction is powerful, to say the least. With their "Enemies of everyone" status, one would hope for a very interesting campaign. While interesting, it does seem as if this faction was completely uber-buffed so that you could win. (The fact that you control a boss creature in the final mission would make victory almost seem too easy...) Maybe you could tone it down a bit next time?

On the whole, the faction is well planned out and described, if a bit strong. The artwork itself is interesting, since (if I'm not mistaken) you made it, and that kind of dedication earns you brownie points. Not enough to sinch second, but enough to give it a go.

7/10 points.

Dungeon: By Noct

A decently modified version of Dungeon, this faction tries to make a pre-H5 version of the faction. The creatures themselves are very powerful, some of them are rather new or unique adaptations of the old (flying hydras ). I love your faction relation descriptions, it gives us a very clear look at the viewpoints of the faction itself. On to more specific things:

What I liked: The hero abilities are awesome, and they had amazing heroes to go with them. The heroic strike ability seems like it could become a bit powerful, but that is in dungeon's nature (to build infinite power!) I loved the Minotaur, and how many creatures/ abilities you had that kept dead things dead. The faceless abilities are powerful, and many of your other creatures have abilities that make them useful in most, if not all, situations. You balanced out the faction well by ensuring that their low growths will keep them from becoming God in the late game. I love the artwork.

What I didn't like: The creatures themselves may have a few too many abilities, which isn't really too bad but makes them a bit strong in my opinion. The faceless is basically invincible, and the Matriarch has some pretty high tanking ability for its role as a caster/ shooter. While those might just be nitpicking, and while they really didn't affect the total score, they did cost you somewhat.

What I missed: A campaign overview. If this faction had included one, then the brownie points accumulated would have caused delicious, chocolaty baked goods to rain from the sky. If you had included the aforementioned campaign, then this faction would have been a strong contender for first.

8/10 points.

Mirage: By Blizz

Can I say anything that hasn't already been said? This faction has it all, it is beautiful in both design and in functionality, and I love the society. I cannot properly gush enough about this faction. As it is, I'll just read it again and wonder what the campaign would have looked like.

9.9999999/10 points (that .0000001 is just me wanting a campaign).

HoMM Community: By Geny

It made me lol, but not much else. Missing quite a bit. Still, the lol factor made it a contender.

3/10

So I would score them:
1st: Mirage
2nd: Dungeon
3rd: The Catacombs

Some of you actually judged my faction. I'm impressed. And grateful.

I agree, Adrius, it could have been better thought out. Unfortunately, the fickle goddess of inspiration hit one day before closing time and I ended up writing this while thing in just several hours. I didn't intend to make anything, but it occurred to me that it would be villainous not to continue TnT's and kooka's tradition. And now I'm glad I did.

Who knows maybe next time I'll actually put some real effort into it.

1) I am not going to reverse the qp they EARNED for winning the contest.
2) The other qp was given by another Moderator.  We do not touch each other's +qp or -qp.

So..the qp's stand.  Again congratulations to the winners and thanks to everybody for participation.
